Since it rained hard the day before, Gordon was stuck in the grass and lost a lap, one of the best things ever!!! 2. Yeah, I hate Dale Jr. but I never cheer when he crashes or spins...No real NASCAR fan likes to see drivers possibly get hurt when they crash... 3. Of course, it was overshadowed by the epic duel at Darlington three weeks later. It looked like Dale Jarrett would again be a title contender after this event. 6 races later, his crew chief was gone, and he eventually wound up 26th in points - his worst ever full season. 5. This dropped him to about 5th or 6th, and once he was back in traffic he couldn't make up the time. Great battle by DJ and Busch. Nice run for Ricky Craven in 4th and Jamie McMurray's first top 5 of his actual rookie year(his win at Lowe's came the year before when he only raced 6 races.) 7. Honestly, I never really understood what Robert Yates was thinking, too many cooks in the kitchen is never good and Dale had way too many cooks in the kitchen. 18. This was his final top 10 at the track, which was probably his best track on the circui. Nearly a quarter of his career top 10s (9/41) would come at The Rock. 22. BadBooking posted: 03.20.2020 - 9:18 am Rate this comment: (0) (1) I blame Steve Park for DJ's downfall because of the wreck the following week at Las Vegas. I believe DJ was concussed as a result of the wreck that was left undiagnosed and definitely affected the team. Went from 9th to 27th in points in one year. 26. TheDewCrew posted: 03.20.2020 - 9:55 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) @25 It's certainly possible. Dale had suffered concussions previously during his career, like at Kansas '01. Those went undiagnosed, making him more susceptible to future concussions. Similar things happened with Dale Jr in 2012, when he suffered a concussion at a tire test at Kansas, then a few weeks later at Talladega. 2014-2016 had the same things for Jr. Jarrett was definitely getting up there, so multiple undiagnosed concussions, especially at that time is likely 27.
