Turns out I got called on a run and listened to it on the radio and drove around looking at what was left of the neighborhood, not too bad but still a memorable race for me. 8. biffle16 posted: 12.30.2006 - 5:29 pm Rate this comment: (0) (1) Greg is Number One! 9. biffle16 posted: 01.07.2007 - 2:06 am Rate this comment: (0) (1) !Gregorio es numero uno! 10. myself posted: 02.21.2007 - 8:27 pm Rate this comment: (1) (5) This race is very special to me. Not b/c I'm a Biffle fan, but b/c its the last race I'll ever attend. Its also the only race my wife'll ever attend! I liked the irony of this being my final race in attendance....the final Winston Cup race @ Nascar's greatest track--DAYTONA! I'll never buy another na$car ticket nor item! When the nextel announcement came down, I decided no more of my hard earned money would go to those gluttons!!!! My poor wife (we were newlyweds), who knows very little of racing, didn't even know who won the race cause' she was so captivated by Robby Gordon's hood that flew off & landed one row down, one section over from us. I told her as we were walking out that Greg Biffle won. Her reply, "Who's that?!" 11. Cecil Davis posted: 02.22.2007 - 10:20 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Big one happened on lap 79. Robby then ran into the wall, and some more people hit him. 13. most posted: 03.03.2007 - 9:05 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Also remember how pissed Kyle Petty was because 43 and 45 did not qualify? 14. It was pretty cool, except I got a s**tload of debris in my eyes, and I had to spend most of the race looking at the Jumbo-Tron. Still, pretty awesome. Jeff Gordon (my fave) didn't win, but I had a great time! GO JEFF! 19. Jeff Gordon had another Pepsi Billion Dollar scheme, McMurray had a Terminator 3 scheme, Tony Stewart had something about the Declaration of Independence, and Stacy Compton in the 4 had Pirates of the Caribbean. I can only remember Compton had that because he could not keep up with the draft and a good number of people around me were laughing. 22. The soft drink maker didn't ended up paying out but one person won $1 million while all 1,000 people eligible for the billion in the special won $100. RaceFanX posted: 03.12.2012 - 10:09 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) Elliott Sadler's team had to modify their special paint job which featured a psychedelic 1960s tie-dye look. NASCAR looked at it in practice and deemed the roof numbers on the #38 Ford weren't visible enough so the team removed its stylized ones and replaced them with a normal set. The odd look was to promote some special M&M's that added little pieces of tie-die colors onto the candies as part of their promotion at the time. 26. Paul posted: 04.01.2012 - 3:30 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) I don't remember Sadler driving the M&M's Groovy Summer paint scheme, but I do have the 1:64 diecast of that car. NASCAR may have made the 38 team change their roof number to make it more visible to the spotter, but the diecast still has the psychedelic design. 27. The problem is he went too far and the fuel cell actually blew up like a balloon. Supposedly the fuel cell stretched so much that it bent the brackets which hold it in place. "It looked like the shape of a football," according to one person who got a glimpse of the fuel cell. NASCAR especially frowned on this since 1) it was a blatant rules violation and 2) attempting to enlarge the fuel cell could have resulted in an explosion." 40. Interestingly, only fans with Cingular Wireless cell phones could participate. This race's poll question was "who do you think will overtake Matt Kenseth in the championship standings?" A-- Jeff Gordon (33%) B-- Dale Earnhardt Jr. (53%) C-- Bobby Labonte (8%) D-- Nobody (6%) 47. In another race dominated by long green flag runs, Biffle tried to stretch his fuel mileage to the checkers, albeit by clinging to the back of the main pack instead of running in a small breakaway like he did here. While that race is better known for its controversial finish that is still divisive to this day, had Jamie McMurray not grenaded a motor in the closing laps, Biffle may have been able to blow away his margin of victory from this race and set a new plate-era MoV mark. 49.
