It was awesome when Mikey and Dale Jr. ran 1-2 for a long time and were swapping the lead back and forth. It was also awesome when Jeffy crashed in turn 3. Everybody and I were cheering!!! What an awesome race!!! 2. I'm just saying that it would've been neat if Busch would've been closer to Newman and both of them spun each other out. When you go to a race, you want your 2 favorite drivers to finish 1-2, and Dale Jr. and Mikey came really close to doing that. Their 3rd and 4th place finishes feel just like a 1-2 finish since they had competitive cars. 4. Darrell posted: 10.30.2005 - 5:51 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Doesn't matter Jake. You have to sink pretty low to want a couple of drivers to spin out just for your own to win. It's fine to want your driver to win, but you have to have your limits. 5. J. I spent most of the day in what turned out to be the winning pits of Ryan Newman. I was also outside of the infield car center when Jeff Gordon was released and then had to do interviews. Finally, I was able to slip into victory lane and was a few feet from the winning car. 6. DaleJrfan14 posted: 06.01.2006 - 8:31 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) did you get on the tube? 7. Thanks! 13. Schroeder51 posted: 10.15.2011 - 5:51 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) This marked the second time that I know of that an idiot fan decided to run on the racetrack. It was mentioned under the caution for Ricky Rudd stalling on the track that a fan had decided to run out on the track. What is it with this place and crazy fans? 14. Jolly Mean Giant posted: 08.05.2018 - 2:58 pm Rate this comment: (4) (0) During the caution for Ricky Rudd's car stalling in the track, "fan" Steven Paolino decided to run out onto the track in turn 1 on a $30 dare. He proceeded to run across the track, with Jeremy Mayfield having to swerve to avoid hitting him. Before he hopped over the outside wall, Paolino proceeded to drop his pants and moon the field. He was apprehended by the authorities and TNT turned over their footage they obtained of him running on the track to aid in the investigation against him. (They never aired it.) Dunno what it is about Pocono and drunken idiot fans deciding it's a good idea to run onto the track, but this place has quite a history of it... 22. rm posted: 01.01.2019 - 11:16 pm Rate this comment: (2) (0) Reutimann was indeed supposed to drive the 04 in this race, but he turned it down after his test date rained out in favor of running the ARCA events instead. This would have been his first time racing at Pocono and he wisely decided he'd try his hand at the tricky triangle in ARCA instead of Winston Cup. 23. rm posted: 03.30.2020 - 9:28 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) Casey Mears won both ends of the ARCA doubleheader held on this weekend and parlayed that into just his third top-10 qualifying effort of the season. Mears caught a break when a caution came out just after he made a green flag pitstop for a flat tire and got to lead a few laps when the field came in for service. Mears led was shuffled back in the field after a couple more restarts and eventually crashed out, one of ten DNFs during his very trying rookie season. A wild coincidence occurred on the broadcast inside of 50 to go. Benny Parsons was walking the viewer through what can cause an engine to expire via the Home Depot-branded virtual cut-away car, with two cars already out of the race from blown engines. As soon as BP gets done with his explanation, the camera pans to Tony Stewart's Home Depot car trailing smoke on the racetrack - a blown engine. The booth immediately noted the extremely unfortunate timing and nature of the jinx that they seemingly put on poor Tony, who was in the middle of a season plagued by mechanical issues. 24. Mile501 posted: 10.14.2020 - 3:09 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) It was mentioned during the broadcast that Bob Latford, the designer of the point system NASCAR used for many years, had passed away during the prior week. It seems somehow fitting that he died during the last season in which NASCAR's top series used a traditional full-season championship format. On another note, Jamie McMurray had a car fast enough to win this race. He had to go behind the wall to have (I believe) a transmission replaced. He went 8 laps down, but made 3 of them up and finished 5 laps down. 25. However, since he DNQ'd for the previous race and did not get to test at Pocono as planned, McClure entered him into the ARCA race instead. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
