DW joined the field on its pace laps with a special #11 Chevrolet painted to look like the Budweiser car he claimed his third and final title in 1985 with. In the race itself Kurt Busch got three wheels off the ground when contact with Rusty Wallace led the red-and-silver #97 Ford going for a spin. Busch spun again on pit road due to his car leaking fluid after its brief flight. 12. After this race he would drive the 0 car for Gene Haas. Ward Burton was very loyal to the Bill Davis Racing operation, almost too much but he could wheel a car at the tougher tracks like Rockingham and Darlington. 18. Interestingly, only fans with Cingular Wireless cell phones could participate. This race's poll question was "Which type of track is your favorite?" A-- Short Track (42%) B-- Intermediate (21%) C-- Superspeedways (37%) 22.
