Hey Jeffy why don't you just get a Kleenex and sob over it!!! 5. JJ Lehto posted: 11.21.2004 - 7:18 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Great win for Rusty, Jeff Gordon would've won but what are the chances of that happening. It was meant to be Rusty. 6. HomeDepotKid posted: 11.29.2004 - 12:26 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) What can I say? I gotta agree with Lehto. That race was for Rusty. It's always great to see a veteran break a winless streak. 7. Anonymous posted: 02.28.2005 - 4:13 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Despite a lackluster season, it was great to see Rusty break his winless streak and to do it in typical Rusty fashion -- at a short track! 8. Mike D posted: 08.29.2005 - 10:36 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Yes, how did he cheat? Yet another Dale Jr. cheated accusation with no proof what so ever. Just because you say it makes it so? Oh and I liked your lack of capitals and punctuation. 9. underdogfan posted: 02.13.2006 - 10:09 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Not a big Junior fan, but I wouldn't say he cheated. Somebody like that probably will, at some point, post that same comment at every race, even the ones before Junior was even in the sport. Great job Rusty! And how 'bout good old Morgan Shepherd, showing us he's serious about racing and not a "Field Filler". He ran the entire race on used tires. Grit and determination are what built this sport, and Shepherd's always had plenty of it. 10. dalejrrules14 posted: 02.26.2006 - 4:51 pm Rate this comment: (0) (1) yea it was one of shepards 2 races he ran 2 yrs ago out of the 14 he ran where he finished!!!!!!1the world will come to an end when he finishes another race or makes the field for that instance.i like hiom though 11. On the other hand, it is ridiculous that Joe Ruttman, Todd Bodine, Andy Hillenburg, and Stanton Barrett tried to run this race as field fillers. 21. Great job by Rusty, nice to see Bobby at 2nd, and Sterling with a 9th. 22. Mark O. posted: 10.01.2008 - 11:01 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) Josh obviously isn't privy to the other stats on this site. He went the distance at Rockingham...crashing doesn't make you a field filler. 23. 18fan posted: 02.19.2010 - 6:43 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Last Martinsville race as of 2009 not won by a Hendrick or Gibbs car. 24. If he'd of gotten by him a few laps earlier it would have been a close finish! 28. Evan posted: 11.03.2011 - 10:54 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) One thing to say about this. A Piece of the Track 1, Jeff Gordon, 0 This race felt like the 1993 season, Rusty leading the race and winning at Martinsville. Rusty breakes the long winless streak since Cali in 2001. However he does not win again, in the fall race, his politicking move to try and tell Ryan Newman to move over so he can win the race in 2004 was blasphemous and Newman did not give in, which no racer should give stoop to a request. Still Rusty earned this one, despite being a poor teammate in the fall, if Newman and Rusty worked together they probably would have been more successful. 29. The #2 Miller Lite Intrepid's trip to victory lane for the first for a Mopar at Martinsville since Dave Marcis won here in 1975 and proved to be the brand's only win here during its 2001-12 reentry into NASCAR competition. 34. The crowd did the wave during the red flag, best wave I've ever witnessed 42. Mile501 posted: 12.15.2020 - 3:09 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) One thing I noticed after watching this race again is that Jeff Gordon rebounded quite nicely after the incident around lap 280. However, his pit crew did not do the best job on their last two pit stops. He had the last pit stall (since he won the pole) and a great opportunity to gain spots, but I don't think he gained any--and may have even lost a spot or two--on his last two pit stops. Had they done a better job (as they usually did), he could have still been in contention for the win. All in all, though I'm not a Rusty fan, it was good to see him get one more win. And Morgan Shepherd did a very respectable job, running all day long and finishing just 1 lap behind a pair of well-funded RCR cars. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
