His average finish is 9.9; his next best track is Texas, with a 10.8 average finish. 3. biffle16 posted: 02.11.2007 - 4:35 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Chevrolet's 400th win. 4. Robby Gordon purchased the assets later in the year and would begin running the team full-time himself in 2005. 10. He put on quite the smokeshow! 11. JSPorts posted: 03.31.2020 - 6:17 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) I always love a good burnout. They're especially unique when they have engine/tire failures. And the Chevy boys made sure to come out strong for this one, leading 369 of the 400 laps en route to taking the win with Dale Earnhardt Jr., his third in the first eleven races. The FOX team was predicting a messy race, similar to the previous night's Busch race, but this one was pretty clean. They looked like they were onto something when Robby Gordon shredded a tire on lap 1, but the second yellow wouldn't come until after lap 100 and there was also a 132-lap green flag run later on. A lot of drivers smacked the outside wall during that run and limped around hoping for a caution, but NASCAR didn't budge until Scott Riggs had a blown engine with a substantial side of smoke. The DEI duo of Earnhardt Jr. and Michael Waltrip were probably the two best cars most of the night, but even more surprising than Waltrip getting his first top ten at Richmond was that Earnhardt's car was the same one that he parked at Las Vegas two months earlier. Clearly it was better suited to Richmond, a track half the size of LVMS. 13. Incidents like that -- plus a ticky tack 25 point penalty at Bristol -- contributed to him missing the 10-car Chase by 15 points. If he made the Chase he would have finished 4th in points due to his 9.0 AvFn in the Chase races. 14. Steve Byrnes, Dr. Dick Berggren and Matt Yocum were the pit road reporters. Chris Myers and Jeff Hammond were in the Hollywood hotel. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
