Awesome what Sterling said about Biffle while TNT was interviewing him.
Pit reporter: "Sterling what happened?" Sterling: "I guess the old
bug-eyed dummy got me" Sterling Marlin probably ranks 2nd behind Michael

Well NASCAR once again helped Crybaby get a better finish. When Gordon's
transmission broke w/ 20 to go, he was running way off the pace. All
NASCAR did was give him a warning to pick his speed when he should've
been black-flagged and parked for being too slow.

It rained and the grid was set by owner points.

If there was any doubt that Tony is one of the top drivers in Nextel

still say the sight of you getting out of your car to pull a fender away
from your car was hilarious. I think we all know who is really the

And Greg could have, maybe, stayed off of the rumble strip? Maybe have

I remember one time on "Trackside" they had Sterling on and in Columbia,
Tennessee there is a donkey show, and they ask Sterling what its all
about, and Sterling, in his southern accent says "Well, I guess everyone
comes to town and shows their asses I guess!" It was so funny!!

This race was Tony Stewart's sick day and he pretty much won with
diarrhea and it was hot inside the car which does not help when you are
not feeling good. This race sealed the deal that Tony back then could
race through adversity. But it helped that he had a good race car as
well. I just about shook my head, Tony won some respect points from me
on this win.

first 22 races of 2004, it was indeed 700.

The 80 car in this race was fielded by Hover but the actual owner was
Denny Lamers, a sports car racer. It ultimately wound up being Lamers'
only foray into Cup, though I believe he also fielded an ARCA car at
some point too.

an effort to communicate with the ever-growing fanbase.

This race's poll question was "What do you think has been NASCAR's most

Jimmie Johnson loses an engine for the second race in a row, with
another one yet to come in the next race at Michigan. The blown motor
here was the result of Johnson missing a shift pretty early, causing
intermittent problems until the engine expired. Johnson was very
disappointed, as he claimed this was the best road course car he'd had
yet in his sixth Cup road race, largely because he persuaded Chad Knaus
& co. to use the same setup that Robbie Loomis and Jeff Gordon had in
the #24 car - and it was fast. Coincidentally - or perhaps not - Gordon
developed issues of his own not long after the #48 was pushed behind the
wall that manifested as a bum transmission with 7 laps to go. Fellow
Hendrick driver Terry Labonte also dropped out with engine issues.

Gordon was black flagged for being too slow with 5 laps left, marking
the second time in three races that a top car was warned (following John
Andretti in Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s #8 at Pocono). Like Andretti, Gordon
was able to finish the race instead of being parked, though ultimately
neither result had any impact on the standings come Richmond. The moral
victory of not being parked, though, is a different story.

Tony Stewart's crew was searching for Scott Pruett as their intended
relief driver for Stewart if he had to bail, but Stewart obviously never
vacated the seat. They tracked down the much-taller Boris Said, a more
than capable driver but a very poor fit for Tony's seat. I'm not sure I
would have wanted to climb on in there after Tony got out of there.
Gutsy performance...pun only mostly intended.

Ryan Newman was not very happy when he received major right-side damage
courtesy of Morgan Shepherd curb-hopping into the much-quicker #12 car.
Shepherd was multiple laps down and the second-to-last car running at
the time of the incident, pulling behind the wall shortly afterwards.

commentators. Bill Weber, Matt Yocum, Marty Snider and Dave Burns were
the pit road reporters.

The Dodge Ryan Newman drove in this race was remarkably the exact same
car he flipped in practice here at the Glen in 2003 with the team
repairing it afterward. While the car was still fast, he qualified in
the top-10, he finished down the running order after the previously
mentioned incident with Shepherd.
