But this one means a whole lot. It was my favorite driver and my favorite superhero, winning at my home track. :) 8. First of two times in his career Mark Martin drove a Batman-themed paint job. As such, his normal Viagra sponsorship was toned down to just Pfizer to be more kid-friendly for the diecasts. 11. While the results weren't immediate in this race, Fatback and Ricky Rudd hit their stride later in the fall and ended the year with nine straight top-20 finishes. Jimmie Johnson's third straight blown engine, leading to a 300-point swing in favor of Jeff Gordon. The clearly-exasperated Johnson said he was dumbfounded as to how this kept happening, especially with the three lost engines stemming from three different issues. Here, he said it seemed like a cylinder dropped before the engine lost power completely about half a lap later. He was in no mood to hear about the Chase keeping him in the hunt - his point being that three straight blown engines is the furthest thing from reassuring at this point in the season. It also wouldn't be his last one of the year quite yet. The 8 cautions in the first half of the race gave this one the look that it would shatter the race caution record, similar to what happened at Indianapolis a couple weeks before. With the spinouts and the backmarkers dropping parts & fluid done for the day, 93 of the final 100 laps went green and the race merely tied the existing record. The record would be broken in 2006 with 10 cautions, but the record of 78 caution laps set in 1969 may never fall, especially considering there's only been one race since then that came within 25 laps of that mark. 25.
