It was great to see the U.S. Army, Air Force, and National Guard be the
podium finishers. This race will be one I'll never forget. Hopefully
sometime in the future on Memorial weekend, 4th of July weekend, or
Veteran's Day weekend, they can repeat this awesome accomplishment.

Rusty Wallace and all those people outside the top 10 complaining "ooo
we dont get fair coverage" well nemechek and rudd showed how to fix
that. RUN GOOD!!!

Rudd had it, on the last restart Rudd was making a move but got shoved
down on the apron by a lap car that happened to be Joe's teamate Scott
Riggs, Rudd slips way back and had to fight all the way back up there
and loses by a fender to Nemechek, good race though, good to see someone
different win.

First time Joe Nemecheck wins a race with a team that he came back and
ran for the following year

In 1999 wins for SABCO: in 2000 runs for Andy Petree

In 2001 wins for Andy Petree; 2002 runs for Travis Carter/Hendrick
Motorsports

In 2003 wins for Hendrick; 2004 ran for MB2 Motorsports

Just a trend I noticed

Being a Joe Nemechek fan this was a great weekend for me to watch NASCAR
races. First Joe won the day before in Kansas in the Busch series race.
Then the next day starting from the pole Joe wins the Nextel Cup race.
Unfortunately Joe has not won another race in either the Sprint or
Nationwide series since then. Joe is still my favorite even if his best
days are behind him.

What the heck happened at the start for Sterling Marlin? He had some
sort of problem in the pits, there really isn't any excuse for it, I know.

This capped off the best weekend of Joe Nemechek's NASCAR career,
sweeping the Nationwide and Cup races (only time he's done so in his
career).

His 4 Cup wins came with 4 different teams in a 6 season span.

Rusty Wallace lost the right side window on his car during the race. The
odd failure sent the #2 Miller Lite Dodge to pit road to have a new one
installed.

Kurt Busch and Jimmie Johnson spun on the backstretch just past halfway
but remarkably they didn't hit anything. Kurt rallied back for a top-10
but Jimmie's luck ran out later when he crashed out.

an effort to communicate with the ever-growing fanbase.

This race's poll question was "What is most important in winning a race?"

Kyle Busch crashed out for the second time in his fourth career start in
2004. Oddly enough, neither of his first two crashouts directly resulted
in cautions coming out for his wrecks. At Las Vegas, he smacked the
outside wall twice very early on. The hits weren't hard enough to spray
debris but they were sufficient enough to force the crew to park the car
after Kyle limped it back to the pits. Here at Kansas, Kyle hit the
outside wall in the trioval and knocked a brake rotor out of his car,
which was promptly run over by a trailing Mark Martin. Kyle slowed on
the track without any visibly significant cosmetic damage while Mark had
to pit after one more lap with two flat tires, finally prompting a
caution for the debris. Mark was almost instantly bailed out thanks to a
caution just after the ensuing restart, earning him the lucky dog, but
Kyle had to drive his car straight to the back of the hauler due to the
terminal brake system damage.

When Kyle wasn't crashing in his Cup races in 2004, it's because he was
crashing in qualifying and didn't make the race. I miss the days when
race cars were hard to drive. Now you never see someone spin out by
themselves.
