racing was just not as good i gove some the drivers credit but at the
same time didnt like the fact the race was dominated by biffle could
have been better

look like bug eyes. i think that chip ganassi should just drop mears
cause mears just doesnt have the skills to be in nascar...

Bobby Labonte out of the top 35 again this week, not sure why no one
mentioned it back then but now it's a huge ordeal and people are selling
points, Nascar isn't as much fun anymore!

The year 2005 was originally to be Mark Martin's last in Sprint Cup and
as such was dubbed his "Salute to You" tour as Martin wanted to give his
fans a farewell tour. Although that eventually came apart, in no small
part due to Kurt Busch's later and rather sudden decision to leave Roush
for Penske in 2006, Mark still saluted his fans with several retro paint
jobs over the year. Here his original colors with Roush, the solid dark
blue look he ran for Stroh's and Stroh's Light beer in 1988 and 1989,
returned for a final ride.

2005 also saw the Ganassi Havoline team fielding several retro paint
jobs over the course of the year. Team sponsor Texaco was celebrating an
anniversary and at four races throughout the year had the car repainted
into retro schemes featuring their old, retired logos and styles.

This was the first Cup race in over 20 years without at least one
Northeast driver in the field. Just 5 years before, at least a handful
of Northeastern drivers (Andretti, the Bodines, Craven, Lepage, Nadeau,
Spencer) would be in a given race; strangely all of them were casualties
of teams that imploded, younger drivers getting an opportunity, or
career-altering injuries.

After Jason Leffler crashed, DW said "I'm hearing we might see a driver
change in this little hot rod before too long." Still, Joe Gibbs let him
drive the #11 Fedex Chevy for 14 more weeks. In 19 starts for Leffler at
JGR: 0 wins, 0 top 5's, 0 top 10's. 1 DNQ.
