He was easily the class of the field. 2. Jake posted: 05.02.2005 - 12:06 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Yeah, you're right. I'd hate to say it but it definitely looks like Hendrick has caught up to DEI on the plate tracks. Congrats to them and also to Michael Waltrip, taking his 2nd straight podium finish!!! I hope DEI will have him back in 2006. Also, congrats to Kevin Harvick and RCR winning the pole in the Goodwrench car on Dale Earnhardt Day. That was awesome. 3. je24go posted: 05.02.2005 - 9:20 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Jr. said that if he keeps it up then they were keeping him for next year. 4. Great day for Jeremy and Jamie. They haven't been near the front a lot this year, so it was nice to see them both back up there. Now I wanna see 'em win. 5. --- posted: 05.03.2005 - 3:18 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Jimmie continues his streak of wrecking, can he make four for four at darlington? 6. Or at the very least, the most dominant restrictor plate car that Hendrick Motorsports has ever built. It took groups of cars to try and pass Jeff, but Jeff could pass them all with ease by himself with no help, and move his car anywhere on the race track that he wanted. Anywhere he wanted to put his car that day, he could do it. This race also helps prove to me why very few are better than Jeff as a driver. Sure, you need to have a great car, but I don't think many drivers could weave in and out of traffic, block all 4 lanes across the track at Talladega, hold off that many challenges for the lead, and hold on to the race after the GWC. Yoda was with Jeff that day. 36. Damon posted: 12.05.2016 - 9:03 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) 35, 2005 Pepsi 400. Cash posted: 11.30.2018 - 8:53 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) I think the laps led is the wrong take here to show how dominant the 24 car was. There were a handful of different strategies in the race. The best demonstration was early on. Gordon flat-spotted his tires on a set of green flag spots and fell to the 20s, but when FOX came back from commercial break minutes after his stop, he was already in 4th. Not to mention, after he passed with 6 to go, he basically got 2 of them back a lap later, in about a mile on the race track & pretty much on his own. I won't say this was the most dominant plate car of all-time, but it does deserve to be in the conversation. 51. Anthony posted: 11.30.2018 - 9:25 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) @50 well either way, I still consider this a dominant plate race for Jeff Gordon. There would not be a wreck that got 26 cars in NASCAR until 2018 Daytona, but It would be the last time in Cup for 7 years The Big One had more than 20. You Think about it this the peak at the time between 1997-2005 numerous Daytona Or Talladega races had really large car counts for cars in the wreck. Often getting 20 or more it was the 4th time since 1998 at the that time in a 8 year span and 5th time in the spring in that span the Cup Race had a wreck get more than 17 cars at least all of it during the Spring races. 54. Every car that was involved in that one either stayed on the racetrack or went to the garage and came back out to attempt to finish the race, which is even more impressive since the wreck happened with just inside 30 laps to go. 56. danny posted: 07.17.2020 - 9:32 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) This Talladega race also had the fewest lead lap finishers since 1998 at the track but its still the fewest for the track since then In edition to that 26 car Million Dollar Junkyard big one. 57.
