Started under caution because of a wet track around 11:15pm, they should have just had it the next day. 6. HomeDepot20TS posted: 07.06.2005 - 9:36 pm Rate this comment: (0) (2) WHOOO HOOOO! What'd I say in the Talladega comments? That first plate win is coming and it came! WHOO BY GOD HE GOT 'ER! As you can see I'm still excited. I think all the Rushville Rocketeers are. Way to go Smoke. 7. HomeDepotKid posted: 07.11.2005 - 6:18 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Tony Rules The Track. Leading all but 9 laps at Daytona? DAMN, that's dominant! 8. After being in the rain all that time, there was no way I wanted them to call it off. 9. I pray he maintains that momentum so that he can finally, I mean FINALLY, win the upcoming 2006 Daytona 500 for the first time in Smoke's career. Go Tony!!! 10. dalejrfan14 posted: 03.17.2006 - 3:27 pm Rate this comment: (0) (1) and to think who would nwin the next week! 11. The did not withdraw, they just did not made an attempt during qualifying. http://www.jayski.com/stats/2005standings/july2results.htm For example in the 2015 Atlanta race a lot of driver were unable to make an attempt during qualifying but it is not like they withdrewso they are still listed as DNQ 34. Ryan posted: 06.08.2016 - 5:19 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Kyle Busch had a pretty funny interview about his odd crash late in the race. He slid through the muddy tri-oval grass, hit the outside wall and came back down towards the end of pit road only to hit Scott Wimmer, who had avoided the crash back by the beginning of the tri-oval but got inadvertently taken out by Kyle's out of control car. That might be the cheeriest I've ever heard Kyle Busch after a wreck. 35. Tide1732 posted: 03.26.2017 - 7:14 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Best position for #42 Chip Ganassi at superspeedways. 36. Mayfield had a good run but the movie didn't, it flopped on release. 39. Mr.Victory posted: 09.21.2018 - 3:29 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Stewart led the first 103 laps? RaceFanX posted: 09.21.2018 - 3:58 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Scott Riggs' Valvoline #10 Chevrolet got a Herbie the Love Bug style makeover for this event as part of a tie-in deal that saw his car promoting the NASCAR-themed family movie "Herbie: Fully Loaded" during the flick's theatrical run, similar to how Dale Jarrett had run a similar scheme a week earlier at Sonoma. Riggs put his Herbie-look Chevrolet on the outside pole and ran well early until he got collected in the Big One; ruining his chances for a good finish only about a fourth of the way into the race. 41. rm posted: 03.13.2020 - 10:56 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) The crew chief for Dan Pardus ill-fated comeback attempt was supposed to be the one and only Red Farmer. 42. Kurt opined that 36th place should be the cutoff spot, that anyone in that position or lower would get the same amount of points (or no points), discouraging teams from fielding damaged cars that were well off the pace. Kurt was well aware that he was ranting and rambling on, but said he had to get on his soapbox while given the opportunity. Fast forward to 2017, and as part of the new damaged vehicle policy rolled out by NASCAR, 36th-40th in the final running order now all earned 1 point - much like the system proposed by Kurt Busch (and plenty of others over the years). In a twist, self-fulfilling prophecy be damned, Kurt did not fall victim to the new rules in the first Cup race in which they applied - he won the Daytona 500 instead. 44. Fox aired the '06 race then TNT took over the race coverage from '07 to 2014. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
