Jr deff. did not have the best car, and probably wouldn't have won.... but I am sooo glad he did. 3. Casey Mears did a good job, came home ninth and was Dodge's top-performer besides the black and gold retro livery and Rusty Wallace. Earnhardt got lucky; one more lap and he was toast. I thought it would've been pretty neat to see Scott Wimmer pull off the upset, myself, but it was a great finish to an otherwise tranquil and rather "marred" race ... Goodyear needs to figure out what is up with the tire compounds. I don't feel NASCAR is moving in the right direction with the tire package, and I am tired of the excuse making by Goodyear. Teams are not running aggressive setups all the time, Goodyear; to have this many tire failures per race is a joke. 5. I about broke my ankle exhibiting my frustration in him not winning, too. Great run for Tony, coming from the back after his practice wreck and concussion to finish 5th. 12. dalejrfan14 posted: 03.17.2006 - 3:28 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) hmmmm tu shay 13. TennesseeMountainMan posted: 12.15.2019 - 5:01 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) @32 After your comment got me curious. It's astonishing to find Dale Jr only won 2 cup races at one mile and half tracks his entire career. This one and Atlanta in 2004 34. RaceFanX posted: 12.15.2019 - 5:02 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) His first Cup win at Texas in 2000 was also on a mile and a half. 35. RaceFanX posted: 12.15.2019 - 5:06 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) In 2006 Chevrolet put out a TV commercial featuring its drivers attending a fancy dinner where they were toasting each other for their 2005 achievements. Tony Stewart was congratulated for winning the championship, Jeff Gordon got a salute for winning the Daytona 500, etc. Dale Earnhardt, Jr.'s win in this race also drew a toast from the other drivers as if this was a real Crown Jewel victory for the brand. 36. Tarheel posted: 12.15.2019 - 8:37 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Ok, Jr had three wins at 1.5 mile tracks. It seems he excelled at the opposites, ten wins on plate tracks, nine wins on tracks one mile or smaller, and only seven at tracks in between despite those in between tracks making up the bulk of the schedule. I'd always casually thought of him as a restrictor plate specialist.... which he was, but he really has a pretty good spread across most types of tracks, lacking only a road course win. 37. rm posted: 06.25.2020 - 7:00 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) From the broadcast: 00 crew chief - Ryan McGlynn 38.
