Impressive runs by Boris Said, Robby Gordon and Scott Pruett and a great drive by Tony Stewart to pull off another dominating win. Rest in peace, Coo Coo Marlin; Sterling was not there because of his passing. :( 2. My condolences go out to the Marlin family. 3. HomeDepot20TS posted: 08.15.2005 - 5:12 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Way to go Smoke! A nice tribute to Mr. Marlin, his son's car being brought home fourth. Great run for Scott. Too bad Ron Fellows couldn't get in the mix. 4. Labonte would get a top ten at Richmond. Then Gibbs used his prospects Yeley and Hamlin, with Hamlin outperforming Yeley, but both getting rides for 2006. Hamlin immediately would start turning heads. 15. After an incredible string of results that scored him 1431 points in 8 races (an average of 178.875 per race), he left Watkins Glen 105 ahead of Jimmie; a gain of 485. Michigan: 2nd, led 97 laps (Most) Sonoma: Won, led 39 laps (Most) Daytona: Won, led 151 laps (Most) Chicago: 5th Loudon: Won, led 232 laps (Most) Pocono: 7th Indy: Won, led 44 laps (Most) Watkins Glen: Won, led 83 laps (Most) He continued a string of Top 10 finishes; added to his early summer hot streak, the next 5 races helped produce a 170-point per race average (equivalent of a 2nd place) over 13 races: Michigan: 5th Bristol: 8th Fontana: 5th, led 56 laps Richmond: 7th Loudon: 2nd, led 173 laps (Most) Without the points being reset after Richmond, his lead would have been 200 points over Greg Biffle. Summer 2005 was amazing for Tony Stewart, and one of the most impressive series of results in NASCAR's modren era. 31. During Stewart's prime he was at his best during the summer schedule when the tracks were slick. 32.
