Congrats to Jimmie and Kyle Petty. 3. This chase without Gordon and Jr makes me laugh, haha new race fans :) :) :) 5. Chris posted: 09.28.2005 - 4:20 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) It hasn't been that bad for Gordon, has it? He's won 3 races, including the Daytona 500. Surely that counts for something, doesn't it? I think the points system is still clearly flawed when guys who have won races aren't in the Chase and guys who haven't won at all are in. 6. They struggled for years, but in 2011 the #78 got it's first win in the Southern 500 with Cato, New York native Regan Smith behind the wheel. 15. Just imagine the #32 car that runs in cup right now and imagine ten years from now, that team not only still exists, but is a race winning and championship contending organization. Exactly. You can't. It is truly amazing how far this team has come, and I'm not sure if its something that will ever happen again, although it would be really cool if it did happen again. 17. Kyle stated he felt he had the better car. 20. Wil posted: 06.05.2018 - 9:51 pm Rate this comment: (0) (2) @19 Sounds like something Kyle would BS about. He led a total of 0 laps in this race, Johnson led 134. 21. Still bothers me to this day, but not as much as before knowing that the race the following year made things better when Gordon won for the final time in his career. 24. Anonymous posted: 06.06.2018 - 7:16 am Rate this comment: (1) (0) @20, that doesn't mean that Kyle wasn't better at the end of the race. Leading more laps doesn't guarantee you the win. 25. John posted: 06.06.2018 - 8:08 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) @24 Beat me to it with your comment. The interview is in the SiriusXM on demand section currently. @23 When Kyle said that about not trying to race Jimmie for the win the first thing that came to my mind was the Jr/Gordon Martinsville race. If Gordon wins that race he goes to the final 4, and he would have been the favorite to win the title. I wonder why Rick went one way in 2005, and the other way in 2013. For the record when talking about team orders after the Martinsville race Hendrick said something like "you can't do that type of thing." 26. Anthony posted: 06.06.2018 - 11:36 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) @25 you mean the other way in 2014. Of course there was that 2013 MWR scandal at Richmond. I guess there were different implications with Rick Hendrick between him 2005 that he only wanted Jimmie to win at Dover & not Kyle versus 2014, when he just didn't care who won as long it was one of his drivers. 27. John posted: 06.07.2018 - 10:13 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) @26 Yes, I was referring to solely Rick Hendrick's feeling of team words in 2005 vs. 2014. 28. Greg Biffle was running second with about 100 laps to go when he had a flat right rear tire which put him a lap down causing him to finish 13th. Matt Kenseth had a flat left rear tire while running in the top five just past halfway and then on lap 368 blew a right front tire and hit the wall ending his day. Kurt Busch looked to have one of the best cars all day but got caught a lap down while making a green flag pit stop after Kenseth's accident, then a few laps after the restart suffered a flat tire which put him 3 laps down and caused him to finish 23rd that day. 32. Kyle's stats at Dover were up and down with solid runs including his final win in June of 1995 and his near wins in 1997 competing in the hot wheels machine. Overall, while not his best track, Kyle competing at Dover was not half bad, either. A great run by a team that had an up and down '05 season. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
