No matter how you slice it, it doesn't really matter how many laps you lead in racing, just as long as you lead the last one. BTW, Las Vegas desprately needs a makeover yes. Heck, they got a bullring track there. Why not use that instead?! 4. dalejr8 posted: 03.13.2006 - 8:59 pm Rate this comment: (0) (2) and hendriks cant ever win w/o bying them ! all his wins r from him bying them so the other drivrs coodnt pass ! gordon jonson and all the rest that ever drove for him wood be feeldfillers w/o hendriks bying there wins! 5. And I will tell you this - had I not been a long-time race fan, having been tuning in since before the sport was popular and racing was "in", I would've turned this poor excuse for an event off. The Formula I race earlier in the morning was more exciting, with actual passing, some pit stop drama, with Raikonnen coming from dead last on a heavier fuel load and Alonso managing to beat Schumacher out of the pits and hold him off in a stirring duel reminiscent of their race at Imola last year. This definitely was not that, and I was wondering what race Jeff Hammond was watching when he talked about how great the racing and passing was. I saw very little of it, even much less on the IN-CAR feed (you'd be amazed how fast the cars got single-file on the restarts), and I was bored to tears. Halfway through the race, I considered mounting my steering wheel in my office in the other room and going to play Sierra's NASCAR 2003; I figured I'd have some better racing on that than what I was watching. I say bring it on; this track needs serious changes, something has to be done. This rules package is an absolute disaster, and only goes to show you that the racing is no longer important to the France family. The $$ and the show is. 8. Spencer had done next to nothing all season, except for some great dueling to the flag with Dale Earnhardt at Talladega (where he also triggered one of two "big accidents" during the race), where he would triumph three weeks later fending off Irvan and teammate Bill Elliott. 9. Ost posted: 03.14.2006 - 8:05 pm Rate this comment: (2) (0) The only thing more tedious than this race is the people who constantly harp on about races being "fixed" ...I guess David Pearson must have had a lot of "fixed" wins seeing as he was the master of the last lap pass? Morons. 15. Chicago posted: 03.14.2006 - 11:10 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Anyone remember when Pearson laid back at the white flag in the Firecracker in '74, handing the lead to Richard Petty by faking a blown engine, and then got up a full head of steam and blew by Petty down the backstretch and into turn three? Petty was astonished and had some strong words for Pearson's tactics. I didn't make any comments about a fixed Johnson victory. Perhaps we could make a case that the finish was artificially generated considering that NASCAR loves to find something on the track and make sure the finish is a green - white - checkered, but that all depends on what side of the coin you are. But as I can't stand Johnson and think he's about as interesting as watching paint dry, you can obviously guess my reaction Sunday, combined with the absolute terrible race. 16. mk17ce99 posted: 03.15.2006 - 3:48 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Thomas, you're exactly right. I couldn't believe Matt didn't try to wreck Johnson. That's just the way Matt is, but most fans conceive him as a dirty racer, because of his McMurray incidents and the times that if he got into a driver because they got into him first he was dirty. If I was in Matt's position, I would have taken Johnson out. Who are you really going to harm? Everybody hates Johnson anyway.... Im looking forward to Atlanta, Kenseth has some awesome cars this year and he has ran top 5 in a lot of the previous Atlanta races except for the 1st lap crash of last years spring race... 17. Thomas posted: 03.15.2006 - 6:53 am Rate this comment: (0) (1) Ost, I didn't think the race was fixed because it was a last-lap pass. I think it was fixed because it was a last-lap pass AND Johnson had not led a single lap all day AND he drives for Hendrick, who NASCAR loves more than any other owner, for some reason. Chicago, you're exactly right with your comments about the '74 Firecracker 400 and one of David Pearson's sly, villainous tricks. mk17ce99, you're exactly right, not to mention hilarious. If it had been anybody but Matt, Mark Martin, maybe Dale Jarrett, or the Labontes (like that unfortunate finish at the 5.5 hour Charlotte Crash Marathon last year where that punk Johnson beat Bobby) Johnson's car would have landed in Reno after he entered turn 3. I guess we Roush fans will be eternally paying for witnessing that awesome finish when Carl Edwards edged Johnson out at Atlanta last year. 18. Sure, NA$CAR threw the caution AFTER learning about Kenseth's engine problem, so that Johnson could win. What a load! When that last caution came out, he was all glum on the radio that he was sure he was going to get beaten and, sure enough, he did. Can't say I blame him though; sometimes an athlete will just lose their focus when the going gets really tough. 28. Mk17Ce99 posted: 01.26.2007 - 6:14 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Ok? He was reporting a miss in the engine. He was dissapointed that a once so dominant car is now crap and he is going to have to limp it home. He didnt lose his focus, the car just wasnt there. 29. The Real Thomas posted: 04.02.2007 - 4:01 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Really Jackson, you didn't hear ANYONE complain about Jack Roush dominance in 2005??? Hell, that's the reason they made this communist 4-car rule, which basically cancels the sponsorship and driver relations with one of his teams. How does Hendrick deserve to win? I guess the people he bribed with cash and cars and customers who he cheated millions of dollars out of deserved their fate, too? Meanwhile, Hendrick gets lucky and doesn't do any jail time because of his illness. 30. Anonymous0 posted: 04.12.2007 - 4:06 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Well if Rick Hendrick deserves it because of leukimia and the place crash. Then Kyle Petty deserves to win every race at New Hampshire because of Adam, would you agree with that? Probably not. If people deserved to win things because they have suffered loss then Jr should have a couple championships by now and more than just one Daytona 500 win. Is it that way though,no it's not and it shouldn't be that way for anyone especially for Hendrick. 31. 18fan posted: 08.04.2010 - 4:30 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Kyle Busch on Tony Stewart during this race: "Could you get on NASCAR for me, the son of a bitch is trying to kill me." 32. 18fan posted: 11.13.2010 - 2:34 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) I think the last caution was for debris off Stewart's car.
