NOBODY punts a Roush driver and lives to tell about it, bwha ha ha ha...... And don't tell me about Bristol - that was months ago and no Roush driver has EVER spun somebody out intentionally on the last lap of a race. Kenseth is far too much of a quality human being to ever attempt payback for this travesty, but fear not - we can always send Kleuver, McMurray, or somebody not near the chase (maybe promote O'Quinn or some schmuck from the Truck Series for a race) to get well-deserved revenge. 3. mcmurrayfan posted: 07.10.2006 - 4:26 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Cup debut for Todd Kluever. Darrell posted: 07.10.2006 - 3:30 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Gordon did NOT spin Kenseth on purpose. Kenseth was on the brakes harder than Jeff, not to mention the fact he was blocking him. Not to mention the fact that Gordon was going to win anyway. He was faster than Kenseth, and Kenseth ran out of fuel during the caution anyway, so Gordon was going to win no matterwhat. Now as for the fans, I hope you never get to go to a race again after the immaturity you showed after the race. Throwing debris on the track at any time, even after a race, is simply unexcusable. To heck with the safety of the drivers. My guy didn't win, so I need to throw a tantrum on national television. Begone you idiots. I wish Gordon didn't spin Kenseth, but it wouldn't have effected his chances of winning any. At least he apologized after the race for spinning him. I am sick of the Roush/Ford fans who put drivers such as Kenseth on this pedestal, and think they can do no wrong, and any time Chevy or Dodge beats them, it is an anti-Ford conspiracy by NASCAR. I have a question for you, what would your reaction have been if the roles were reversed, and it was Kenseth, Biffle, Jarrett, etc., or dare I say it, one of the Earnhardts, who spun Gordon to win. What would your feelings have been then? I thought so. 9. mk17ce99 posted: 07.10.2006 - 5:46 pm Rate this comment: (0) (1) Responding to the post above me. So spinning him was the right thing to do. Matt wasn't on the brakes, he had to slow because dumb shit Casey Mears was in his way. If any of you who are for Gordon would like to watch the replay on nascar.com you could see there is clearly enough room for Gordon to roll out of the throttle and try to pass them once they got out of the corner and around Mears. Gordon was simply impatient and I know Bristol was on his mind. Why else would he say in his post race interview that he got the bad end of it at Bristol and now Kenseth got the bad end of it at Chicagoland. Seems pretty intentional to me. And I love Steve Letartes comment, im sure Jeff didn't mean to do it. What are you God? Do you know everything Jeff is thinking? And about throwing beer bottles and what not on the track, I thin it is hilarious. Do we have to be good citiziens every second of our lives. Not everybody cares about what is right and wrong in life. People pay damn good money for those tickets (Chicagoland tix through brokers are EXPENSIVE). They see a great finish get spoiled because Wonder Boy spins out a good decent driver, so yeah they are going to be pissed. And Gordon's apology was an empty apology. I'm sure after post race and what not he didn't go to Matt and apologize to him. Matt called him after Bristol but they never talked. Shows what kind of driver he really is. At least Tony Stewart will be man enough to talk it over with the driver he just got into and is true in everything his says. But in all its Karma. Apparently people will say Matt got the bad end of Karma from Bristol, maybe he did, maybe he didnt, who knows. But what comes around goes around and if Jeff wants to play that game, he will get hit again.. 10. mk17ce99 posted: 07.10.2006 - 5:51 pm Rate this comment: (0) (1) And the guy who is nascar is a sitcom is dead on. But I think a tie for second in worst commisioner is between David Stern and Gary Bettman. Nascar is very inconsistent. Every since the 2004 year when Winston left they have had very bad calls. Some calls were deserved and others weren't. They will give a rough driving penalty to a guy who is racing in the middle of the pack and gets into somebody. Its basically what they think is intentional and if Rick Hendrick tells Mike Helton that it wasn't intentional, then it wont be. And about darrell's comments on us Roush and Ford fans saying Kenseth can't do anything wrong. Kenseth has done things wrong and knows that he did them wrong and tried to make up for them. I didnt see Gordon ever going to Rusty Wallace and trying to apologize for all the times he ran him out of the way for the win. I didnt see Jeff Gordon buy Morgan Shepherd a brand new race car when he wrecked Shepeherd at Atlanta a long time ago when Shepherd was barely hanging on and had no money. Its a far cry from what any Ford drivers have done. Sure all drivers screw up, but they are real with each other and talk to each other and make sure things are cool. I dont see Gordon doing any of this. 11. Steve posted: 07.10.2006 - 6:46 pm Rate this comment: (0) (1) Yeah, I think it's cool that we'll have a world-renouned Formula 1 racer, and winner, racing in NA$CAR. Juan Pablo is one of 10 active Grand Prix racers with a victory. Another awesome run for Reed Sorenson (7th) and a solid day for polesitter Jeff Burton, who was the first driver to cross the finish line without pulling a cheap shot! (Please excuse me for my language.) I can use one word to describe what happened in Turn 2 with 4 to go: Unnecessary. Or insolent. Or desperate. Or bullshit. Or ridiculous. Or dirty. Or typical. Take your pick. I agree with the comments about Jeff being faster and that he didn't need to hit Matt. He could have rolled out of the throttle and gotten another run on him and passed him on the outside! Kenseth said he would have to run the bottom because his car would not work on the high side, so that was open for him! Matt was right. Jeff isn't stupid, though he did something stupid. He'll wait until NA$CAR gets off his back and then pull this kind of crap. And because he's Jeff Gordon, the winningest active driver, NA$CAR will do nothing as far as penalizing him on the track or off the track during the week as far as money or points. And as a 4-time champion, Jeff should have much more class than that. And the TNT guys don't understand why the fans threw cans and other crap on the track. It's because, in pure NA$CAR, that's right, NA$CAR fashion, a guy spins out the leader, hoes unpenalized, and wins because NA$CAR is to pussy to do anything about it! "The fans won't like it if we penalize him!", or whatever the hell it is they think when this happens. It's the opposite; the fans will cheer when a wrong is righted. I'm sure this contact was intentional, but even if contact is UNintentional, and the receiver of the contact crashes or just spins, the driver who made contact should be penalized one lap and to the end of the longest line. Period. I hope he misses the CHA$E a few more times and decides to go to Formula One. If he tries to pull a stunt like that in F1, the stewards would be investigating his sorry ass. And even so, his car would be damaged as much as the car of his victim. 13. Anonymous posted: 07.10.2006 - 7:20 pm Rate this comment: (0) (1) Hey Darrell, there's this website out there, you outta check it out. http://www.nascar.com on that website there is an article: http://www.nascar.com/2006/news/headlines/cup/07/09/jgordon.mkenseth.chicagoland/index.html. You have to read the very last paragraph of the article. That is the part where Jeff said this: ""I wanted to race and I had a run but he blocked me again," Gordon said. "I couldn't believe he was doing that and then I had such a great run that I'm not going to back out."" It's from Gordon's mouth, it isn't any consipiacy. I believe it was the Las Vegas Race earlier this year where Kenseth led the most laps and Johnson got past him at the end. Kenseth could have easily wrecked Johnson to keep him from winning, he even said that in his post race interview. Gordon didn't have to bump Kenseth. Gordon doesn't have "the magic" he did in 97 and 98 and he of all people know it. If he had such a strong car, he should have shown the superior horsepower that Hendrick Motorsports brings to the track each week and drove around Kenseth. Did Bristol have anything to do with it? Just as sure as Jeff drinks Pepsi it had everything to do with it. Gordon is allowed to do this, because NASCAR lets him. It isn't a conspiracy. NASCAR knows it's going to sell a lot more tickets now over the coming races (until Labor Day) to see Matt settle the score. Two things about Gordon that people don't factor into what they say about the race. 1st and foremost, there is an incredible amount of "pressure" put on Gordon by fans and the media to get past 76 wins. Secondly, every track that Gordon hasn't won at, just about every media outlet points out the tracks that Jeff hasn't won at. Scratch Chicago off of the list (at any cost). If this is the turnaround point in Gordon's season, then mark Chicago as what may vault him up in the standings. Come the drop of the checkers at Richmond this fall, if Jeff is on the chase bubble, let's see if he is a gracious about being "moved" out of the way as Matt Kenseth was. Earnhardt did that to Terry Labonte 7 years ago at Bristol. His comment was "I only meant to rattle his cage." But his smile said, "I meant to do that". The difference between a driver with class and a pain in the ass is how Gordon handled Bristol, compare to how Kenseth handled Chicago. Comes right down to it, Gordon would run over Evernhams kid to get a win. My hope for the chase is that Johnson chokes for the how many consecutive seasons? And that Gordon come banquet time is off in Europe or Iraq or Iran or North Korea pouting because he missed the chase. 16. Don Hintz posted: 07.10.2006 - 8:09 pm Rate this comment: (0) (1) We can discuss, debate, disagree and argue whether this was intentional or not longer that it would take to reach the end of the internet. What I don't understand from Gordon's comments is he couldn't believe that Kenseth was blocking him. So if it's wrong for Kenseth to be blocking Gordon, why it it OK for Gordon to move Kenseth out of the way? It came out of Gordon's mouth that he had a run on Kenseth and he wasn't going to back out of it. My biggest concern about all of this is not that Gordon was wrong or right. But that NASCAR allows this kind of thing to go on. Then the drivers take it upon themselves to "settle it". Which is how we ended up with the "Luck Dog" rule. Drivers wouldn't follow the 'gentlemens' agreement to not race back to the yellow. Finally, after many warnings, NASCAR stepped in. What's going to come of this? I think the fan's reaction is only a precurser to what things will be like when NASCAR does step in. 17. Jeff Gordon has not done anything different on the track as anyone else who has ever raced. I sat every week & watched Dale Earnhardt, Sr. "bump & wreck" everybody that was in his way, time & time again & get away with it. Do anything he had to to win & everybody thinks this crap is "cool". But, Jeff Gordon or anybody else does this intentional or not, & everybody flips there lids & loses it!! Earnhardt,Sr has had faster cars & run into the back of people & spun them out & went on for the win, too. so, what the hell is the difference?? NONE!! Even other drivers in interviews have said that Earnhardt could do almost anything & get away with it. Also, if you read the article thoroughly, Matt Kennseth does take part of the blame for the spin out. He sayshis car was tight in the corners, he says he did slow because of it & a slower car, too & also concedse that he wouldn't have won anyway because he ran out of gas!!! Which in reality is the REAL REASON he wouldn't have won. with 1 or 2 laps to go, he would have run out of gas anyway & Gordon would have went around him when he dropped down on the apron, & Jeff would have STILL WON!!! you guys need to quit your crying about silly shit & GLORIFYING one driver for so called rough driving(Earnhardt, Sr) & DOWNING the other driver (J.GORDON) when he has done no different. I bet if Earnhardt,Sr would have bumped Kenseth & went on to win, we would not be having this discussion!!! It would be all positive cheers & credit like "You don't get in Earnhardt's way or "slow him up" he's coming thru to the front!!! Yea, he wins!!! He's THE MAN!!!! Oh, well, Kenseth shouldn't have been in his way & slowed him up!!! he got what That crap don't make any sense!! And, this whole issue should be put to bed anyway & people quit saying J.Gordon is going to be paid back!! That's ludicrous!! At Bristol, Kenseth got "bumped" out of the lead for a potential win by Kurt Busch. Really, Kenseth was mad because of it & if you watch the replays, he really knocked the shit out of J. Gordon because he rammed him square in the rear bumper!! HE took his anger out on Gordon but was not penalized!! There should be no more "getcha back" crap down the road. They're even now. They both wrecked each other in a race!! It's over- let's move on. also, it proves since Earnhardt's death that all you Earnhardt fans are band-wagon fans anyway!! The majority of all of you jumped to Dale, Jr. automatically hoping that he will be as good as his daddy & beat out Jeff Gordon in anything!! Jr. will never be as good as his daddy. He couldn't carry his jock- so all you band-wagon fakers keep holding your breath, ok. Dale, Jr. really ain't that good. he wrecks nearly every week or every other week & the last 2 races in a row he has finished 43rd & 43rd respectively!!! HA HA HA!!!! And he is now OUT of the top 10 in the points for the chase!!!! The only thing that is HELPING Dale,Jr. have a career in NASCAR quite frankly is the NAME he carries!!!! That's it in a nutshell, period. All you fakers who jumped ship because Earnhardt died, are sitting back HOPING & PRAYING that JR. can "CARRY ON THE LEGACY" & do anything to beat out Jeff Gordon. You all couldn't decide on new driver to pull for & be different. All Jr's fans are all his daddy's former fans. And ALL of you know this is the truth deep down, too. And if Jr's so good, or the best as all of you say, why has he only won 17 races in his 7th full season??? If he's so good, coming out of DEI, it looks like he would have more race wins & at least 1 championship by now. And don't give me that level of competition crap, cause it goes up with every generation. You have to adapt & stay on top of the game to be successful. I mean Jimmie Johnson has been racing less time, & has more victories to his credit than Earnhardt. Johnson has 22 victories. And Matt Kenseth. He has 13 victories, only 4 behind & 5 to pass Jr, but, even he has the one thing that Jr has yet to win: a Championship!!! The way it's going Kenseth will pass Jr in Victories before Jr ever wins a Championship. And it still remains: Jr has talent & is a DECENT or GOOD driver, just not the absolute BEST!!! The original buyer Ron Pratt bought the car for $500,000 then donated the car back to be sold again in 2013 where it was sold along with a 2000 Jeff Gordon-edition street-going Chevrolet Monte Carlo and some NASCAR experience stuff for $350,000. Gordon used the same car to win at Charlotte, assumedly the fall race in 2007. 43. Ouch. 47. Gordon7timechamp posted: 01.29.2016 - 6:59 am Rate this comment: (0) (1) Jeff Burton choked again. He had the best car and still couldnt close the deal. 48. Screw Roush. Matt Kenseth wishes he could be half of the driver that Jeff Gordon is. And to post 37 - "Steve", Earnhardt sure as hell didn't seem too apologetic when he knocked Terry Labonte twice at Bristol for the simple fact that he couldn't handle losing a race, and then decided to act like an asshole afterwards with his "who, me?" response. I can also guarantee that Ella and Leo will both be better kids than The Intimidator's bastard children: you know, the ones he never gave a shit about and had terrible relationships with until one of them decided to become a stock car driver, and then he magically became a daddy. Sorry the truth hurts. 49. I seem to recall he tried to be around more for his youngest daughter Taylor (who turned out to be the only one who didn't try racing) and tried to be more involved later on with Kerry, Kelley and Dale Jr. even before they started racing. 51. {}{}{}{}{} posted: 08.21.2017 - 3:36 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) @37 Someone should just make a compilation of idiotic comments like these. No, after Jimmie Johnson took the checkered flag first in the 2008 Chevy Rock & Roll 400 at Richmond, all 43 cars finished the race. 53. What? 26th place finisher Sterling Marlin is scored a lap down just like the others behind him... This race was extended to 270 due to green/white/checker (GWC). 55.
