Shows the whole problem with this insipid format, which supposedly they're going to change, etc. Great run by Dave Blaney, but it barely gets mentioned by the clowns at TNT. 2. Also the past two champs aren't in the chase with Busch missing as well. Interesting chase start to say the least. 3. Nascar needs to note that as long as you are penalized so severely for wrecks or mechanical failures this kind of tenative racing will be common in the last few races before the chase. Can Bill Webber and TNT's coverage of the race be any worse. Constantly calling drivers by the wrong name, dumb or obvious comments. And who didnt love Webber's line at the finish last night, "Harvick sweeps at Bristol". In my opinion Stewart was most deserving of NOT making the chase. Started off the year wrecklessly at Daytona, first contact with Gordon then obviously goin after Kenseth with a move that I will never understand how Nascar didnt penalize. Constantly got himself in fueds and battles all year that hurt his teams performance. Then spoke arrogantly about how he was sure his team would make the chase. All this followed by three terrible performances the last few races and intentionally wrecking Sterling Marlin early in this race. You have to have mental composure to win a championship and this year Stewart faired poorly in that area. My hat is off to him however for how he handled his interviews after not making it. Great must have good runs by Mark Martin and Jeff Burton two class acts of the sport for many years. Incredibly effort by Dale Jr. to get that car to the finish with brake issues. One of the most determined drivers in the sport in my opinion. And how bout Ken Schrader first top 10 since Daytona. Would love to hear peoples' pick for the Championship now that everyting is even. 4. Jim posted: 09.10.2006 - 6:03 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Yeah, TNT's announcers are pretty pathetic. Excellent run by Blaney, top top all night, but they only mentioned him a couple times in the middle of the race. And how bout Schrader? Best finish of the year for him, despite the fact that everyone expected him to fade quickly after the 2 tire stop. It is too bad Stewart missed the chase. I kept hoping and hoping that either Gordon or Dale Jr would have their brakes fail, so they could hit the wall and miss the chase, but it wasn't meant to be. 5. If you think that "Kandy" Kahne doesn't deserve to be in with the most wins something is wrong. 7. Kevin posted: 09.11.2006 - 4:18 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Say what you want, the 10 best drivers this season are in the chase, the rest are not in the chase. I am thrilled that Jeff Burton is in the chase. As well, Mark Martin making the chase. They are both class acts! Jimmie Johnson and Matt Kenseth are the 2 drivers to beat this year. But, I will be pulling for Jeff Burton and Mark Martin, who are the most deserving of the 10 in the chase!! 9. Steve posted: 09.11.2006 - 6:21 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Awesome runs for Dave Blaney and Kenny Schrader, and another strong finish for Scott Riggs. Denny Hamlin becomes the first Raybestos Rookie of the Year candidate to qualify for the CHA$E! Blaney's 4th place finish is the first Top 5 for BDR since the 2004 Daytona 500, when rookie Scott Wimmer finished 3rd in the #22. Two things held true in the three years of the race to the CHA$E: a driver who was outside the Top 10 entering Richmond displaced someone who was in the Top 10 (Mayfield in 2004, Newman in 2005, and Kahne in 2006), and someone who was in the Top 5 in points after 14 or 15 races, and seemed to be a lock in the CHA$E, missed it (Labonte, Sadler, and Stewart respectively). 10. The last two drivers were Dale Earnhardt, who won in 1991 and finished 12th in 1992(this was also the only time in 5 years that he did not win the championship) and Alan Kulwicki who won in 1992 and passed away in 1993. 11. Bob Jenkins and Ken Squire must've loved that. Blaney, Schrader, Riggs, Yeley and Mears had greats runs, and Blaney had a great car all weekend. Maybe Bill Davis has found something. 13. JPM42ROTY2007 posted: 09.12.2006 - 5:22 pm Rate this comment: (0) (1) Typical Richmond in drivers not getting mentioned after strong runs. Mike Bliss's 4th place in 04 was ignored, Terry Labonte's 9th place was ignored last year and this year its Dave Blaney's 2nd ever Top 5 thats ignored. Who will it be next year? 14. Steve posted: 09.12.2006 - 10:52 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) To answer Anonymous' question, I watched Wind Tunnel with Dave Despain on SPEED Sunday night, and during the "Eye Candy" segment, one of the video clips shown was Jeff Green's noseless racecar ramming into the side of Jimmie Johnson's car under caution. It was from Jeff's frustration at Jimmie for an earlier wreck which cost Jeff a lot of time in the garage area. Jimmie Johnson and Matt Kenseth are the only two drivers to have never missed the CHA$E (Mark Martin has never missed it either, but in 2007 he will focus on running the entire Truck Series schedule). 15. Anonymous posted: 09.13.2006 - 4:08 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Yeah, I knew Green hit Johnson, but it was, as you pointed out, retaliation for an earlier incident. This sort of thing has happened before, where the driver who was initially in the wrong is not punished, and the guy who got punted the first time ends up parked or fined. Not only does it mean you you see less bumping and banging action, but it also sets a dangerous precedent, where you can hit someone and ruin their race and get away with it. This is stock car racing, bumping and banging is part of its character. 16. Thomas posted: 09.13.2006 - 7:00 am Rate this comment: (0) (1) If they parked Jeff Green for just bumping into Johnson after he spun Green out, Jeff might has well have just put Johnson in the wall and totally ended his night, too. 17. It seems to me both Kahne and Stewart were pretty inconsistent. Kahne had twice as many wins, and hasn't made it in yet...sounds to me like he was a lil more deserving. 19. biffle16 posted: 12.08.2006 - 3:27 am Rate this comment: (0) (2) I hate Kevin Harvick, but he has good taste in music! 20. Everytime he gets run over by somebody, he has to cuss them out or jump all over their car to get his point across. Sure, Biffle once punched someone, but he certainly has not done that recently. Harvick continues to be that way to this day. 22. highheat98 posted: 05.03.2007 - 9:42 pm Rate this comment: (0) (1) Here's an interesting list: Drivers Favorite music...
