Dave Blaney gets his second-straight top-ten, and is once again ignored. He picked a bad time to start getting competitive. 3. They made sure to interview Dale "Golden Boy" Jr. after his amazing 13th place finish, though! 4. Good finishes for Tony Stewart (not a surprising result, but a second place finish can certainly give that #20 team the momentum they need to have a better 2007 season, and get back into the CHA$E), for Brian Vickers (5th after a solid run all day long), Elliott Sadler (sneaked up on the Top 10 guys late in the race to get 6th), rookie J.J. Yeley (tying a career best 8th place finish he got at Fontana in February), Dave Blaney (3rd career pair of back-to-back Top 10s), Robby Gordon (the owner/driver had an uneventful September race at New Hampshire for a change, to finish 15th), David Stremme (finished 20th, as he is trying to get that #40 Dodge away from the #14 and #45 teams who are dueling for the 35th in owner points), and Michael Waltrip (a 23rd place finish helps him get into realistic contention for the Top 35). And remember what Bill Weber told us: Jeff Burton has 175 wins since his last victory at Phoenix in 2001! And he looked it up, so we don't have to! 5. For saying that Harvick will be the 2006 Nextel Champion based on other 1st race to start the chase is incorrect. Ryan Newman won the 1st race last year and was not win the championship. Do not get me wrong, I would be happy to see Harvick win the championship. There are 9 races to go and anyone can still take the championship!!! 6. JPM42ROTY2007 posted: 09.19.2006 - 12:48 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Actually history does not show that Harvick will be the champ. History shows that the champ will probably be either him, J. Gordon, or Hamlin. Last year Newman won the race and didn't do anything else in the chase.(He finished 6th). The only instance of the winner going on to win the championship from winning the race is back in 2004 and even then Busch wasn't points leader.(Jr. was) So the race is still pretty much open. 7. The BUSCH Series he will win no doubt. The Nextel cup however is much farther away than it may seem for Harvick. 4 things stand in his way. That being Charlotte, Atlanta, Texas and Kansas. Harvick has only 4 top 10's in his last 30 races combined at those 4 tracks, and an Avg finish of 30 at ATL over his last 9 there. I know the 29 team is much improved this year, but I dont know if there performance on those 4 tracks can improve enough to take home the cup. Harvick winning NH is no big shock, he also won Phoenix in the spring, a track very similar to NH. And by the way, a note to the TNT guys. Jeff Gordon and Jeff Burton are two different people. 8. Freak accident that matches up perfectly with all the luck he's had in Sprint Cup...NONE. 14. As bizarre as his race may have seemed here, this proved to be his final race in what is now the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series. Kevin Harvick got his 5th of 6 poles in the 13 years he raced for Richard Childress from 2001 to 2013. After leaving Richard Childress Racing and joining Stewart-Haas Racing, he has managed to get 15 additional poles to date along the 6 he had with Childress. Morgan Shepherd ran his last race in his self-owned #89 at this race, but he would run the July race at this track in both 2013 and 2014. 19. This race's poll question was "How many additional points should NASCAR award for a win?" A-- 25 (58%) B-- 50 (21%) C-- 100 (9%) D-- Double (11%) 20. He also started first twice in 2010, but both of those were due to rainouts. 21.
