Clint Bowyer had a great run in front of his home fans. 6. Thomas posted: 10.03.2006 - 8:15 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) DaleJrFan15, you pretty much summed this one up properly! 7. Only reason was Benny Parsons had been battling cancer and was not broadcasting some during the 06 season, it was also the last race he didn't broadcast before his passing. 19. I'm having a hard time trying to recall another time that a driver was pushed around under green flag conditions without a caution flying - especially as recent as this race was. -Once pit stops started with about 10 laps to go, Carl Edwards was looking to make a move on the slower car of Tony Stewart who was trying (and succeeding) to save fuel. Stewart just about closed the door on Edwards in turn 1 before pulling back up the track with minimal contact being made. If the two had crashed there, it doesn't just change the race's outcome - it almost certainly has a larger ripple effect on the final Chase standings. -Kasey Kahne spun coming into the pits with 5-6 laps to go and rolled through the grass at very low speed before crew members from teammate Elliott Sadler's stall ran to push Kahne down pit road. The crew managed to push Kahne most of the way down pit road and into his stall, all while the race stayed green and while other cars sped down pit road for their stops - with Jimmie Johnson literally speeding past the 9 car and incurring a penalty for being too fast exiting. Once again, not sure how almost any of that was allowed to happen in 2006, as that situation seemed to be a callback to the very hands-off approach of race control from decades past. Then, of course, there was race winner Stewart running out of gas coming out of turn 2 on the final lap and coasting for more than half a lap to the win. With the NBC broadcast's attention mostly focused on the bizarre happenings of Kasey Kahne's attempt to pit, the finer details of Stewart's time as the race leader are a little murky. 21.
