Closest finnish in Bristol history. The CoT did not seem to change the Bristol racing experience, we will have to wait till a superspeedway race to see its true colors. 2. beardog91 posted: 03.26.2007 - 3:44 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) jeff burton is a class act. 3. smartliberal posted: 03.26.2007 - 4:57 am Rate this comment: (0) (1) Hamlin would of won if it weren't for that dumbass Johnson blocking the track, 4. Once again, Roush/Fenway's drivers prove they can't drive without knocking someone out of the way. Between that and Ragan wrecking every five laps, it's a miracle NA$COW let them finish the race. Awesome run for Jeff Green though! 5. Darrell posted: 03.26.2007 - 1:40 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) First start for A.J. Allmendinger and Regan Smith. 6. Who spun kurt busch past the checkered flag ? Ken Schrader ??? 8. Dan posted: 03.26.2007 - 6:25 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) "Hamlin would of won if it weren't for that dumbass Johnson blocking the track," LOL. Stewart was the one who blocked Hamlin first. Where was Johnson supposed to go? Hamlin had a fuel pump issue anyway so he would have lost the race either way. 9. As for the race itself, it was a decent race. I liked watching a fairly clean race at Bristol, not one where there's a caution seemingly every 20 laps or so. The finish at the end was pretty nice, but it would have been nice to see Burton rough up Busch a bit. I mean, Burton was all over Gordon before that final caution came out, if he drove Kyle like that he probably would have won. Not to mention David Ragan spun three time during the race. 11. More bad luck for Stewart; he leads over half of the race, but has a mechanical failure. A.J. Allmendinger: Nextel Cup debut for the Champ Car standout (40th) Mike Bliss: another solid finish for BAM Racing (17th) Jeff Green: best finish since he finished 5th at Talladega in 2002 (6th) Denny Hamlin: engine lost power near the end of the race (14th) Casey Mears: finally gets a good finish this year (10th) Regan Smith: Nextel Cup debut (25th) Martin Truex Jr.: 50th start (37th) Barney Visser: best finish for his team (Kenny Wallace finished 21st) DaleJrFan15, Ward Burton's previous Top 20 finish was at Charlotte in October 2004 (finished 19th), and Joe Nemechek's last DNQ was at Bristol in the spring of 1998. In 2001 Joe had an injury from a Busch testing crash at Dover, and in 2002 Joe was rideless for some races. 16. That must've been a nightmare for smaller teams trying to build two completely different cars. Why did NASCAR do it in 2007? They planned to do it again in 2008 (with the CoT getting more races) but scrapped that idea. 45. The only one that didn't were the #37 Front Row Motorsports Dodge (too many DNQs probably squeezed too much out of their budget), and the #13 & #14 Ginn Racing Chevys (because Bobby Ginn pulled a JD Stacy and quit racing after he didn't get the instant success he expected). 49. ScottB posted: 11.18.2020 - 11:06 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Out of the 6 DNQ's here, 4 of them are drivers who won at least on Cup race at some point in their career. Another went on to a Truck series championship. The remaining one (Lepage), and the one WD (Chaffin), were driving for a small part time organization, but one that is still around today and went on to win at the Cup level. Not only was the number of teams higher, the quality of the entries at the back of the field was better than it is today. 50.
