the first caution happenned on lap 1 on the frontstrech.

thae race was a bore until about 100 to go

AGH! I dont believe in Friday the thirteenth, but Saturday the
fourteenth was the day from Hell for me! After trying to recover from
that, I was looking forward to raceday.It helped me recover in the way
that Jeff Burton won, Jr led 96 laps, and the Hendrick streak finally
ended. but it was not near enough to get over the fact Jr wrecked
(Prepare yourself, your about to hear something never said by me!)

I believe that it was Jr's and Busch's fault for the wreck, NOT JUST
BUSCH :o is this possible! If Jr hadnt slowed so drammatically, nd Busch
had slowed more, then this could have been avoided.

Good Job Jeff Burton.

Another classic clean finish between Jeff Burton and Matt Kenseth like
the 2006 Dover race.

Some shoutouts:
-Jamie McMurray's first top 5 of 2007 (5th)
-David Stremme's first career top 10 (10th)
-A shoutout to the #2 team of Kurt Busch, crew chief Roy McCauley took a
leave of absence because his wife is very ill(get better!) and the fill
in crew chief nearly won the race for Busch at a track penske has
struggled out, Kurt probably would've won if the caution didnt come out
after he pitted under green.
-Another solid finish for Brian Vickers (14th) they have a hard time
making races but when they do make races they run well.
-Solid run for Paul Menard (15th)

Also, kinda weird Tony Stewart spun out collecting Kyle Busch and Dale
Earnhardt, Jr. but when Kyle's car was repaired Kyle had already left
the track(what a punk) so Dale Jr. stepped in the 5 and finished the
race for him.

Also, Jr has confidence and is starting to "Keep up with the changing
track" hell be up front again in no time :)

I don't think anyone has mentioned this yet, but for the last 9 laps
Dale Jr. drove Kyle Busch's car when Busch couldn't be found.
-Tony Raines stayed on the lead lap all day and ended up with a solid
finish.
-Evernham cars all struggle again.
-Reed Sorenson had a top 10 going until his engine expired.
-Kevin Harvick and Clint Bowyer struggle while Burton wins.

Tony Stewart's comments after the race:

"It's not fun anymore...having 180,000 people boo you every time you
come around the corner...it's not about racing anymore."

Could these comments mean Stewart will leave NA$CAR? If he does, it
won't matter what form of racing he leaves for; he will succeed. Whether
it's Champ Car, IRL, or sports car racing (he'll be 36 in about 5 weeks,
so he's too old for Formula 1), he'd be a constant winner.

Denny Hamlin: 50th start (9th)
David Stremme: first Top 10 (10th)

I didn't know a lot of people booed Tony Stewart. I could understand
why, but that's a new one on me. Or are the fans so drunk by mid-race
that they confuse him with Jeff Gordon?

I got to watch this one from the TMS Press Box above the grandstands.
Time of my life! Got to see the Jr/Busch wreck right in front of me.
Angry that Matt lost, but glad that if anyone had to beat him, it was
Jeff Burton.

Jeff Gordon's greatest race at Texas, leading 173 of the races 334 laps,
hits the wall toward the end while holding a commanding lead, which
slows his car to about 8 mph slower than the rest of the lead cars and
he fades to a 4th place effort.

Jeff Gordon clearly had the best car in this race, but he hit the wall
twice in the closing stages and fell back. Only Junior was in the same
league as Jeff in this race.

If anyone from r-r.info reads this: How about implementing a listing for
driver changes during a race? It's sort of relevant to this one, and of
course I'm sure it was a lot more prevalent in the past...

This was the first race I ever went to. I was all decked out in Jeff
Burton gear. Hats and shirts with a diecast. The battle between Jeff and
Matt was classic! Everyone was on their feet watching. When Jeff cleared
him on the last lap, I was losing my mind! On the way out, everyone was
high fiving me on the way out. I told them I didnt have much to do with
it. On a funny note, whenever the 5 car came back out, no one knew Dale,
Jr. was in the car, so everyone booed him.

The unknown part of this race is Dale Earnhardt Jr. jumps into the 5 car
to run some laps after Kyle Busch leaves the track, thinking the car was
too damaged which start up rumors Earnhardt jumping to HMS(which
Earnhardt decried as crazy) which is EXACTLY what happened.

One of the greatest races of the 21st century in my opinion. Great
racing, lots of action, and a last lap pass for the win by a guy who
played it just right, staying in the top ten the whole race but never
actually leading the race until the very last lap.

Of course the thing that this race will always be remembered for now is
the unofficial beginning of the Dale Jr/ Kyle Busch feud which lasted
throughout 2008, and also the beginning of the end for Kyle Busch at
Hendrick and the beginning of Dale Jr. at Hendrick. We all know the
story of how Kyle drilled Jr slowing down for a wreck (or in Kyle's
case, not slowing down), and then left the track in one of his tantrums
while his crew fixed his car and had Jr drive it the rest of the way
since he was out of the race from the wreck.

This was my first race ever, and I wasn't disappointed! Still, hate to
see my favorite driver, David Ragan, get in a wreck on Lap 1...

I know the feeling sorta..My first Cup race was the 2008 Daytona 500..My
2 favorite drivers finished 41st and 42nd..

Jeff Burton never won a Cup race from the pole, but this win was his 4th
and final from 2nd place on the grid.

Don't be confused by Jeff Burton's 1 lap led and think this was a fluky
win. He started 2nd and hung around in the top 5 all day until
surgically passing leader Matt Kenseth on the white flag lap to take the W.

Mike Joy, Larry McReynolds and Darrell Waltrip were the commentators.
Dr. Dick Berggren, Steve Byrnes, Matt Yocum and Krista Voda were the pit
road reporters. Chris Myers and Jeff Hammond were in the Hollywood hotel.
