Reason being Jeff Gordon is a big suck up, Jimmie Johnston is winney, and Kyle Busch is a cocky punk! If nascar wasn't to quick to throw a caution, it could have been a good battle between Jeff and Ryan or Jeff could have slipped in the water and Ryan could have won, but it is what it is. 8. Steve.M. posted: 06.11.2007 - 5:55 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Gordon really only had a top 10 car maybe a top 5 but Steve Letarte had an idea that could have been either the dumbest move or the smartest, and it ended up being smart. Also great run for Truex the week after his first win. Was clearly the best car before the rains came, well for the situation, if the race had been 10 laps longer truex would have one again. Mears gets another top 5 Mark Martin gets ANOTHER top 10 and the rains still wont stop in 2007 on the nextel cup circut 9. The Real Thomas posted: 06.11.2007 - 11:25 am Rate this comment: (0) (5) It was pure luck. And a stupid decision by NASCAR to start a 500-mile race at a track without lights at 5pm est. I find it interesting that NASCAR threw the caution for rain RIGHT before Ryan Newman started to pass Rainbow Boy. So here's the score: Rainbow Boy in 2007 due to luck - 4 Rainbow Boy in 2007 due to the best car/best driver/talent - 0 For all of life's worries, there's real racing. For everything else, there's Rainbow Boy. HAHA! At least Jimmie finished next to last! On to Michigan where there's usually a good race, and Hendrick usually doesn't do very well. 11. James W. I don't mean to sound forward, but that name hardly seems accurate for JG, particularly at this stage of his career. At 35, he's hardly a "boy," and his car hasn't had the rainbow paint scheme since 2000. Got it? 12. DEIFan16 posted: 06.11.2007 - 1:51 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Well I honestly dont have much to say about this race cause i only saw the final 30 laps., except Gordon did luck out on this one for sure. 13. you-know-who posted: 06.11.2007 - 2:55 pm Rate this comment: (0) (1) That all may be true James, but it's not going to stop the FAGs (stands for 'Fans Against Gordon', or so they claim). There were plenty of times that Jeff Gordon had the best car. And if you're saying that he isn't the best driver on the track, then you are probably the most ignorant person I've ever come across. It's amazing how blind some people can be just because they hate someone they don't even know. How is it even possible to hate someone that you have never met so much? You call him "Rainbow Boy" and then say that the Hendrick drivers and fans are immature. Laughable. 16. The Real Thomas posted: 06.11.2007 - 7:16 pm Rate this comment: (0) (1) Name one race THIS YEAR that Jeffie won where he had the best car. Granted, the best car does not always win in racing, but it just gets annoying that Jeffie can have so much ridiculous luck. Let me remind you about this season: Phoenix - best car, Tony Stewart Phoenix - winner, Jeffie, due to a lucky caution Talladega - best car, (arguable) Denny Hamlin Talladega - winner, Jeffie, due to a lucky caution at the end where he was able to beat McMurray since they waited so damn long to throw it for a crash Darlington - best car, (hands down) Denny Hamlin Darlington - winner, Jeffie, with a shitty, overheating car Pocono - best car (yet again), Denny Hamlin, and also Ryan Newman Pocono - winner, Jeffie, due to a bogus pit call that made Steve LaFart look like a genius and a lucky caution when Ryan Newman was about to make a race out of the damn thing Oh and by the way, those who live in glass houses need not throw stones if you're calling me immature because I say Jeffie is "Rainbow Boy", yet you resort to simply calling fans who dislike him (which is a large amount), "fags". Real clever. It's like when someone becomes president or is a coach. They are called that forever, even if they aren't anymore. Jeffie was "Rainbow Boy" for 7 years and it's hard to drop that moniker since he still acts that way, regardless of what his age is or his paint scheme. 17. Anonymous posted: 06.11.2007 - 10:54 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Being there I can easily say Gordon did not have a top 10 car. Just short probably, his car was in a class around Harvick and Bowyer. Hamlin had the fastest car early, Newman and Truex had the fastest cars later and had no problems chasing down Gordon from way back. I said around lap 94 Newman needed 10 laps to get Gordon, he got 9 1/2. Johnny Sauter hands down had the worst car in the field, nothing went wrong with his car for him to lose the 3 laps. His car was that terrible 19. dale E posted: 06.12.2007 - 3:54 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) the 24 team had the best at the following races: martinsville - best car texas - best car phoenix - best car; passed tony stoolwart with ~10 to go talladega - best car; lead the most laps. went from 16 to 1st in just 5 laps all star race - best car; flat tire lowes - best car; got from 30 to top 5 in less than 40 laps 20. Dale Jr., like his father, is pretty much a class act; too bad the same thing can't be said of a significant segment of his fans. 24. Zan Cunningham posted: 06.13.2007 - 9:12 pm Rate this comment: (0) (1) If "end of the world" means Jr fans aren't a class act because of the beer can throwing at Talladega, he just doesn't realize how passionate Jr fans are in Alabama, or "Jr Nation", as it's called. And also how much they hate Jeff Gordon. One of the reporters at Jr's live press conference said Jr going to Hendrick, is like if Bear Bryant's son went to Auburn. Not many people laughed, but Alabamians are also passionate about either the University of Alabama OR Auburn. But NEVER both. So truer words were never spoken. It really shows that Jr and Gordon can NEVER be teammates to "Jr Nation". How about around the rest of the country, how are the Jr fans responding? 25. It's about being out front at the end. Nothing else matters. Now I'm not a NASCAR conspiracy theorist, particularly for a Mark Martin fan, but I will say that the timing of that caution seemed pretty convenient for Jeff Gordon. I think Newman got gipped. Also, I enjoyed listening to Kyle Petty as an analyst. With McCumbee's performance maybe his team would be better off with him in the booth instead of on the track, as much as I like the guy. 26. Just because I don't think Jeffie is the best driver on the track does not make me "ignorant", it simply means that I have a differing opinion. In NASCAR, I think Tony Stewart is the best driver on the track (even though I have mixed feelings about him.) I'd put Mark Martin 2nd, Matt Kenseth 3rd, Greg Biffle 4th, and Ricky Rudd 5th. Jeffie is maybe 6th at best. Once again, this is just my OPINION and is not a sign of "ignorance." 29. He has four championships, he also has 81 wins and 238 Top 5s! I am a huge gordon fan and don't think im bias. Gordon had a sixth place car and steve latarte had great pit strategy to win the race. Jeff gordon was lucky untill the end of the year win he lost the championship to Jimmie (very disappointing). You guys fight like babies. I will settle this. The top five drivers in the last five years of NASCAR are: #1 Jimmie Johnson, #2 Tony Stewart, #3 Jeff Gordon, #4 Matt Kenseth, #5 Mark Martin. I think that MArk Martin should be ranked about 14th or 15th greatest NASCAR Driver of all-time. He never one a championship but finished second four times! He has 35 wins and 241 Top 5s! No one is gunna change anyones mind so please give it up. 36.
