Ties second closest finish in history. 2. Darrell posted: 07.08.2007 - 1:30 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Great run for Gilliland. Not too excited about McMurray winning, but he has been pretty fast this year. 3. And I guess it was the end of an era with the last plate race for the car of yesterday. And what the hell is up with Sorenson plowing into the back of Labonte & Jr. like that :( 4. Also David Gilliand spun and worked his way back up to a decent 11th place finish. On a side note this is kind of strange, the 07 car Clint Bowyer finished 7th on 07/07/2007. 6. DEIFan16 posted: 07.08.2007 - 3:47 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Okay, lets have a rundown on how "Lucky" My 7/7/07 was: 7/6/07 (I know it doesnt count but it started here) Qualifying rained out.Mike Wallace misses show.I chose him for my fantasy team. 7/7/07 Jr doesnt finish so hot at Daytona during the busch race Junior wrecks and finishes bad :( he had a nice paint scheme too. I chose him for my fantasy team too. Martin truex had a good run but finished 13th. I chose him too. Mark Martin Sloshed through the field to finish 17th. i also chose him Tatal points I got for my fantasy team:144. Pitiful :( Montoya wrecks :( had a good run Tony and Denny wreck eachother XD and at the same time :( Now, for the only thing that was positive: My mom got home with 25 to go, she decided to watch the rest of it with me. First we were going for truex until he fell back . Moms like "Why is he so slow?" Im all like" he doesnt have a drafting partner" and shes all" Whats that?" and im like "You wouldnt understand" we fought about that for about 10 laps then we watched it. We were both going for Jamie. When they were side by side with 5 to go, I just knew that this was going to be a photo finish. and as they crossed the line Me and mom thought it was a dead heat. until 5 seconds later. and we were all "WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" Grats to jamie. i knew you could do it. And I believe that there is a certain someone (Mcmurray26fan is it? I already forgot the name) whos gonna be all smiles for the next week.) 7. Steve.M. posted: 07.08.2007 - 4:33 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) WOW WOW WOW what a finish, screw the COT (at least at Daytona lol) 0.005 Sec McMurray beats Kyle Busch Clint Boywer in #07 finishes 7th on 07/07/07 after leading the most laps And Stewart does the typical Stewart thing and blames Denny Hamlin for the crash And how about Kasey Kahne gets wrecked on lap 3 but still gets a 9th way to go. 9. Roush kicks Hendrick's butt at Daytona!!! All Roush cars finish in the top 12!!! Solid, guys!!! Congrats to Jamie!!! Irony: Clint Bowyer drives car number 07, on day 07-07-07, and finishes 7th. 11. Brock posted: 07.08.2007 - 7:02 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) A thrilling victory for Jamie McMurray, trailing Kyle Busch coming into the tri-oval, but getting just enough of a last-minute side-draft to squeeze by him on the outside! Well done, Jamie, well done! The win puts McMurray up to 13th in points, just 49 points out of 12th. A surprisingly-strong run for Clint Bowyer, leading a race-high 55 laps in the first Daytona race since flipping on his roof at the 500 in February. Also, an incredible 9th place finish for Kasey Kahne who, after an early wreck with Jeff Green on lap four, was able to use pit strategy and hang on with older tires to snag a top-10. Casey Mears had also held the lead by staying out with Kahne, but was shaken from the draft and wound up 19th. It's just a shame that Boris Said DNQ'd, though. After sitting on the provisional pole with 14 cars left to qualify, the field was set by points due to rain and Boris was sent packing along with the equally-fast Toyotas of Jeremy Mayfield and Michael Waltrip. 12. Brock posted: 07.08.2007 - 7:02 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Also an awesome run by Sterling Marlin before he "cut a damn tire" late in the going and hit the turn three wall hard. 13. Zac posted: 07.08.2007 - 8:24 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Awesome job Jamie McMurray. Now he goes from one hit wonder to a two hit wonder. I need to thank Montoya for wrecking yet another guy. Coming off turn 2, Montoya goes over his head, like normal, and takes out Harvick who had a legitimate car and good shot at getting a top 5 or top 10. He needs to get his head of his ass because he has talent, but he's still learning in stock cars. For once, Chevy didn't dominate that night. Bowyer had a great run finishing 7th from pit stall 7, on 7/7/07 driving the 07. That's pretty funny. He accidentally hit a switch making him go from 1st to the pack of the pack. He'll win one these races sometime soon. 14. biffle16 posted: 07.09.2007 - 12:05 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Hey, did anybody see the fight after the Indy Car race? But Jamie couldn't have done it without the help from Carl Edwards and Jeff Gordon. Jamie said on NASCAR Victory Lane that the car he raced was built in 1999 for the #97 team and Roush has all his cars in the top 12. 17. Anonymous posted: 07.09.2007 - 6:59 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) The top 7 cars in qualifying before it rained were teams outside of the top 35 in points. They were: Said, Blaney, Mayfield, K Wallace, Waltrip, Riggs, and Reutimann in that order. The start of the race would had been interesting because they were all in qualifying trim. Riggs wasn't even able to stay in the draft and eventually had engine trouble. 19. DEIFan16 posted: 07.09.2007 - 4:08 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Thats just me mcmurrayfan im a giver :) another thing, qualifying was the biggest bullspit in quite a while. All those good qualifiers were forced to go home due to rain. I think they should fix the qualifying procedure and make sure nobody is guaranteed a spot in the race. Its risky but it would be fair. 20. biffle16 posted: 07.09.2007 - 10:49 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) I actually saw it live, too. 21. Anyway, great coverage by TNT of an unbelievable race. Best NASCAR race of any kind (plate or not) in many years. It was great to hear Wally and Kyle in the booth give the win to Busch coming out of turn 4 and then see him lose to McMurray at the line. Way to go, Jamie!!! Roush owned Hendrick's ass tonight. 23. Hamlin took the blame admirably(wish he would be that way now) and acted very mature about the whole thing. * Michael Waltrip fails to qualify in his car, seriously Toyota sucked bad in 2007, and still does. The equipment and engines are awful. 43. The October 2007 race at Talladega was the Superpeedway debut of the CoT. Also its surprising no one mentioned that this was Dale Earnhardt Jr's final time racing the iconic number 8 for DEI at Daytona. He would leave his father's team to join Hendrick Motorsports in 2008. 53. TBS and NBC were supposed to partner in 2001, but Turner decided that TNT's "We know drama" was better. For whatever reason, TNT and NBC never used "No Brakes" during their 2001-2006 run. Thankfully, TNT did so during their 2007-2012 run at the July Daytona race. That was probably the best part about their run, because the booth from 2010-2014 was awful. 54.
