Also, Ryan Newman finished 10th, and Clint Bowyer was 8th. 2. Rusty posted: 07.16.2007 - 9:58 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Wrapup of this race: Casey Mears got his 3rd career pole and had a top 10 car all day, but never ran well enough to win. The early dominant car belonged to Jimmie Johnson, and the race stayed green for the first 60 laps or so until Jeff Green spun out. Kevin Harvick stayed out and was able to lead 54 laps before getting passed by Jimmie Johnson. Jamie McMurray smacked the wall after winning at Daytona the week before, later Dave Blaney cut a tire and smacked the wall hard taking out Ward Burton. Jimmie Johnson who may have been the only driver fast enough to compete with Tony Stewart cut a tire and crashed. Stewart then ran away with his first win of 2007 and his second career win at Chicagoland. 9. But if Greg did finish 11th, that means that he has finished 11th at Chicagoland for the third straight year. And whoever is impersonating me, STOP. There is no www.gregbiffle.com, BTW. One last thing: Darrell, quit putting down Ford. 10. Mr. Consistentcy posted: 07.17.2007 - 4:23 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Kyle Petty was right. This race wasn't very exciting. I don't know why, but the racing isn't very exciting at Chicago. Not much to say about this one. I was glad to see Mark Martin in 14th after starting from the back. Too bad about junior's power steering went out, he had a pretty good car. 11. Brock posted: 07.17.2007 - 6:16 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Ryan Newman snared a solid 8th place finish after suffering minor damage to his right-front fender late in the event. Mark Martin bounced back from a very disappointing practice crash that took out his 4th-place primary car to finish 14th. He had started at the back of the pack with Kurt Busch, who had an even bigger run to 6th place after losing an engine before the race. A very rough day for DEI overall: Dale Earnhardt, Jr. lost his power steering late in the event just moments after a blistering 12-second pit stop put him up to the 3rd position. Earnhardt, Jr. did manage, however, to muscle his car to a lead-lap finish in 19th. Martin Truex, Jr., driving the same car which nearly nabbed him wins at Michigan and Pocono, gave up the ghost after a late pit stop. Smoke in the cockpit signaled an abrupt engine failure that knocked him out inside of 60 laps to go, happening at almost the same moment Earnhardt, Jr.'s power steering failed. Paul Menard's Chevrolet smoked heavily in the early laps of the event, then returned to the track after lengthy repairs 131 laps down to finish running at the checkered flag. 12. He's acting positive and that is what leads to good finishes. If not for the power steering failure,he may have had a top 5 car, maybe even a winning car. 13.
