It had a lot of leaders, had some great racing, and Junior had a great run! BTW that wreck with Mikey was very scary I was worried after a few seconds and he was still in the car. Thank god he was okay. 2. Douche Bagolow posted: 09.03.2007 - 7:24 pm Rate this comment: (0) (1) I think I can kiss Greg's CHA$E hopes goodbye after this one. But it was great to see Jeff Gordon struggle again. :) 3. Figures. Was nice to see Jr actually run the car for what it's worth. Wish he would run like that more often instead of being "conservative". 4. There was actually some passing and good 3 and 4-wide racing. Congrats to Jerkface Gordon on separating the shoulder of a driver (Ricky Rudd) that's ten times more talented than Gordon will ever be. I'm surprised he actually admitted that it was his fault. That means 2 milestones were broken tonight: Ricky's amount of starts and Jerkface finally admitting he caused a wreck. 5. When they do make the race, they have ran very well in most of them. They had a damn good car in the World 600 also. 8. Steve.M. posted: 09.05.2007 - 5:18 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) so heading into the last race before the chase everything is pretty much set as far as you can and cant make it IN: Jeff Gordon Tony Stewart Denny Hamlin Carl Edwards Matt Kenseth Jimmie Johnson Jeff Burton Kyle Busch Clint Bowyer Martin Truex Jr IN BUT COULD FALL OUT Kurt Busch Kevin Harvick Outside Looking IN Dale Earnhardt Jr Everyone else out Jr is 128 pts behind harvick i doubt he makes it but you never know, he just needs to have a great run, or Harvick a bad one Kurt Busch is basically in, he would like have to finish last and Jr and Harvick get top 5s for him to loose his spot 9. Zac posted: 09.05.2007 - 7:01 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Once that #83 Toyota gets locked in to the show, boy, look out. Vickers can drive a car, and Doug Richert is probably the best crew chief out there because of his experience. Great job A.J. Allmendinger finishing 18th. And another shout out to Bobby Labonte who came within a few tenths of getting his third straight top ten. :) 10. Luke posted: 09.05.2007 - 10:21 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Brian Vickers is too low in points and missed too many races this year to be a threat to win. Moving from Hendrick Motorsports to a startup team with a new manufacturer and no owners points is probably the dumbest decision anybody could make 11. Don H posted: 09.06.2007 - 3:29 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) An interesting look at the points this year, compared to last year. Last year, a two man race, Kenseth and Johnson. Kenseth had a 9 point lead over Johnson and third place was 342 points back, this year, third place is 344 points back and first to fifth this last year 394 points, this year, 370 points. The two drivers making the most noise last year from Richmond on? Stewart and Edwards. Two drivers on the move this year? Stewart and Edwards. If Kenseth can't win the championship this year (unlikely) then Stewart better, because their jump to toyota next year literally floors me. Consider that Gibbs has three championships this century, tells me he's on to something, but toyota? Wow! What about Jarrett. Then again, Jarret jumping to toyota turned out real well for him, didn't it? The only thing that put Mikey on the map was Sr. hiring him, and Jr.'s marketability. I had no expectations for MWR this year and they haven't let me down. But, to finish, last year, after Loudon, all the "experts" were giving Harvick the Championship and Johnson was in 9th. But Johnson ended up winning the championship, it still came down to Johnson/Kenseth. Johnson put it all together when he had to, Kenseth didn't. As for Vickers, lets also look at the numbers... This year: AS = avg start AF = avg finish Gordon AS 11.7 AF 8.4 Stewart AS 16.8 AF 12.7 Hamlin AS 11.5 AF 12.6 Edwards AS 17.1 AF 12.2 Kenseth AS 21.7 AF 12.0 Johnson AS 12. AF 13.4 Burton AS 21.2 AF 16.2 Ky Busch AS 13.9 AF 13.7 Bowyer AS 15.6 AF 15.0 Truex, Jr. AS 16.2 AF 15.7 Kur Busch AS 15.1 AF 15.2 Harvick AS 19. AF 15.8 Jr. AS 13.6 AF 16.4 2007 Vickers AS 23.8 AF 24 Vickers Best AF 19.2 2006 Champ AS 10.8 AF 9.7 2005 Champ AS 12.0 AF 9.9 2004 Champ AS 15.0 AF 12.5 2003 Champ AS 21.3 AF 10.2 2002 Champ AS 13.2 AF 12.6 2001 Champ AS 9.5 AF 11.0 2000 Champ AS 11.6 AF 7.4 1999 Champ AS 13.2 AF 6.8 1998 Champ AS 7.0 AF 5.7 1997 Champ AS 9.4 AF 9.6 8th place awards 142 points per race, times 25 = 3550 24th place awards 91 points per race, times 25 = 2275 Last year, after 25 races, 2275 points puts you in 26 to 27th place, however, Vickers has only ran 15 races, so 15 races times 91 points puts him at 1365 points. Last year 1365 points after 25 races puts him in 40th place, this year he is in 39th. Oh yeah, I'm ordering my 2008 Vickers Championship diecasts tonight. As for a race in California on Labor Day Weekend? Just as painful as watching Jerry on the telethon. Just not what it used to be. Didn't watch a lap, didn't listen to a lap, but the deck on my house sure looks great! 12. Nuck Chorris posted: 09.24.2007 - 8:04 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) I agree with Luke. Vickers's new team does suck. It doesn't matter how well you run in race trim if you can't run well in qualifying trim. 13. Sounds like this was a rare race from the 2000's at Fontana that was actually good. Also, it is hilarious to see that a salty Jeff Gordon hater commented about this race. 25. In his 41 starts for Furniture Row, he finished last 5 times and finished 40th or worse 10 times. Moving to a part-time operation while running with Regan Smith really helped the team turn around and begin to chip away at the reliability issues. 28. He looked to be having a good run after his hard crash at this track earlier in the year and was running around the top ten until he got involved in the big wreck with Rudd and Jeff Gordon. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
