Carl gets a nicely deserved win and the Big One strikes with 14 to go. But what was going on with Truex Jr. still running even when he was smoking out the rear end and he was leaking fluid? A guy who should've finished 25th ended up 13th. Bad no-call by NASCAR. Mikey gets a Top 15. Casey Mears gets another good finish, and Matt Kenseth has the biggest heartbreak of the race. 2. But apparently NASCAR couldn't risk having 3 cars on the lead lap at the finish. 3. He brought Jack Roush his 100th win as a car owner in the Cup Series. Darrell, before you accuse Roush Racing, the car was not purposely tampered with, and you know it. But then again, the NA$CAR Gestapo probably won't care. If it were a Hendrick driver, they probably wouldn't penalize them. 6. It's amazing how one week we go from all cars running at the end of the race to only 26 or so. I find that funny. Matt Kenseth's first expired engine since 2005. What a bad time for that happen, especially while leading the most the laps. Congrats to: 1. Carl for winning 2. Greg Biffle for not sucking for once. ;) 3. Mark Martin for almost winning. 4. Casey Mears for sneaking out a top ten 5. Michael Waltrip for both MAKING and FINISHING the race (15th after starting near the back) 7. Of course, he's not in the Chase, so the Evil Stepmother will let him have good engines. Or at least one's that won't blow up. 8. Nearly ten minutes of commercials and a replay of NASCAR Countdown passed before the race coverage resumed. No mention nor apology was made. 9. Allmendinger had his best qualifing effort to that date spoiled by a blown engine on lap 4. Allmendinger had only 2 DNFs all year, both when he scored a career best qualifing effort. (He qualified 5th then crashed at Talladega) Gamerscore doesn't translate to a good run... Even with the help of the Master Chief on the quarterpanels, David Streme couldn't finish higher then 39th in the Halo 3/ Target Dodge after a blown engine 11. Douche Bagolow ....You know, you are right. In the 2008 Bud Shootout, the 5 car was found to be too low but NASCAR says that the car is all right because there was damage to it so they are letting it be. Same happened to Carl at this Dover race with the same COT, right? 12. 18fan posted: 11.28.2008 - 3:13 am Rate this comment: (1) (0) Wow! what a wreckfest. Kurt Busch has something break in his car running fourth, then a bunch of cars had absolutely nowhere to go, just like the lap 17 wreck in June 2008. Kyle should be listed as involved in the big one. He got hit from behind and hit the wall. What was Denny Hamlin thinking. He came 3 lanes up in front of Petty and then blames Kyle. Clint Bowyer did well after suffering damage in that accident. Heartbreak for Kenseth once again ib the September Dover race. His disappointment continued this year after leading the most laps but lost the lead with eight laps to go. 13. jp posted: 03.01.2009 - 3:19 pm Rate this comment: (0) (1) The NASCAR Gestapo is destroying the sport like papers in a paper shredder. 14. Anyways watching Carl Edwards win on my birthday in person easily made him my favorite driver after this race. Also 6 cars finished on the lead lap, when does this ever happen nowadays? 17. I was really young and new to NASCAR at the time but I remember this being a great race. It certainly lived up to the "Monster Mile" hype. Even Carl Edwards who won had to overcome a brake problem. 20. rm posted: 05.09.2020 - 1:51 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) Denny Hamlin & Kyle Petty's accident touched off a confrontation between the two back in the garage area. An irate Petty immediately found Hamlin in the garage and expressed his extreme displeasure about being wrecked by Hamlin. After #11 crew members and NASCAR officials pulled Petty away from Hamlin's window, Hamlin climbed out and tried to make a run at Petty, but the officials and crew members ensured that the two drivers stayed separated from each other. It would not be the last disagreement that Hamlin & Petty had with each other. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
