He must've found the hidden grove of bad luck that Harry Gant found between 86-88. 5. Awesome runs to Blaney, Stremme, Waltrip, Rudd, Labonte, and Allmendinger. Hell, even Petty did pretty well. 7. daniel posted: 10.14.2007 - 8:33 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) gordon was faster than anyone 8. lowesdupont posted: 10.16.2007 - 12:46 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) This was a stressful night for 48 and 20 fans. The 48 spins out with about 100 laps to go, moves all the way back to 6th. Then on a restart he runs out of gas. Then the 20 has a nasty encounter with menard and kahne on pit road early in the race. 9. Jeff Green blows an engine, but NASCAR doesn't throw the caution until his HASS-CNC teammate Johnny Sauter slips and wrecks in the oil. The resulting mess forced a red flag. Bummer for Ryan Newman, whose best runs seem to have always come in races that Jeff Gordon just edges him for (i.e. Kansas September 2001, Infineon June 2006, Pocono June 2007 to name a few). Man, oh, man was Newman fun to watch, though! Jeff Gordon snaps a 5-consecutive DNF streak at Charlotte to win there for the first time since the rain-delayed fall event in 1999. That 1999 race was the second-consecutive win Gordon scored with crew chief Brian Whitesell after Ray Evernham left Hendrick to start his Dodge operation. To give you an idea of how long ago that was, Gordon beat Bobby Labonte and Mike Skinner for the win. 11. This was also Gordon's last win with the blue flames scheme that made its debut in 2001. Stewart ran into both Menard and Kahne on pit road during a single pitstop, lol. Great runs for Blaney, Stremme, Waltrip, Rudd, Yeley, Allmendinger and Petty. 15. Even though I didn't like Tony at the time of this race, I enjoyed what he said simply because it's true. If Paul didn't have his Daddy's sponsorship, he wouldn't be in the Cup Series. I've seen much better drivers than him get fired (Ward Burton comes to mind). 16. Art D posted: 02.28.2010 - 3:41 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) 81st career win for J. I remember while watching the tape of this race (I was working that night) that I made notes of how long it took for each driver to get mentioned by the telecast. Dispite getting a top ten, Stremme was the only driver in the entire field who's name was never once spoken. Even Tony Raines got one brief comment! 19. But he won anyway because Newman blew a tire leading with two to go. 24. Boom Confetti posted: 02.22.2016 - 6:47 pm Rate this comment: (1) (6) Perfect example of Gordons perfect luck right here he butcheres the restart like typical Gordon but gets the race handed to him anyway because Newman blew up. Doesnt matter in the end though because Jeffie got his ass handed to him the enxt four races by JJ. 25. M posted: 05.04.2017 - 5:40 pm Rate this comment: (1) (4) I am so glad Jeff Gordon won this race. Not just because I am a Jeff Gordon fan, but because I get the enjoyment of hearing the crybabies come out in full force, like the two morons above. Dale Earnhardt Jr, was driving too slow and was in Jeff Gordon's groove, so Gordon punted him out of the way. Dale Jr. then proceeded to throw a hissy fit tantrum on the radio, claiming he was going to get Gordon back when he caught him. The problem was, he could never catch him, as Gordon had the best car all night and was leagues better than Dale Jr, LOL. This was the race that Rusty Wallace spent basically the entire night criticizing Gordon for DARING to move Junior out of the way, but lord knows if Dale Earnhardt Sr. had done the same thing to Gordon, he would be getting all kinds of praise. Jeff Gordon's victories taste so much better when everybody gets mad and jealous because their favorite can't win. Oh, and just by looking at the stats for the 2007 season: Gordon straight served Earnhardt Jr. his ass on a silver platter. 26. I cannot believe that Jeff Gordon haters were out in full force in 2007. To my shock, most of them from 2007 aren't even Jimmie fans. Let me remind all of you Gordon haters that you are criticizing a first year nomination Hall of Famer right here, and THE true 7 time champion. Jimmie only won the 2007 title because he was GIVEN points for winning 6 races, he did not earn the points lead from Jeff Gordon by being consistent, it was HANDED TO HIM on a silver plater for win bonus points... 28. Gabriel posted: 05.05.2018 - 6:33 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Also, to all the A-holes that say Gordon "lucked out" on his 6 wins? Well, those make up for the races he dominated and didn't win that season. Gordon was the best driver that season no doubt. 29. 242124 posted: 07.03.2019 - 1:55 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Just rewatched this race and Rusty Wallace mentioned Gordon moving Jr out of the way about every 10 laps lmao 30. Anonymous posted: 12.23.2019 - 7:32 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Both Blaney and Mikey no question bad big runs that race which were great to see but also you got to give props to Ricky Rudd and that 11th place run, it was also his last Top 15 Cup Finish and 2nd to last career lead lap finish. and think this that was also Michael Waltrip's first lead lap run all year. Litterallty that whole season of 07 he did not complete all the laps in a race until That night at Charlotte run and get that top 10 and get his last 1.5 Top 10 Career finish. But that run was huge at the time. 31. Rich posted: 12.20.2020 - 5:23 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Dr. Jerry Punch, Andy Petree and Rusty Wallace were the commentators.
