At least we've seen Jr really CAN drive and DEI really was just a bad team 4. Clayton posted: 03.30.2008 - 11:25 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Let's not crown Jr champion because he is 4th in the standings!! I liked this race! A lot of interesting things! Ken Schrader and BAM Racing's first race in a Yota and having BDR engines and Schrader and Blaney have engine troubles. Bill Elliott had a day to forget, messing up the commit line and getting involved in two accidents, Matt Kenseth of all people, gets penalized two laps for spinning David Gilliland around, and ironicly Gilliland runs for Yates who gets his chasies and engines from Roush! Jeff Burton gets ticked off at Michael McDowell because McDowell wouldn't get out of his way in the closing laps, both Carl Edwards and Brian Vickers ran out of gas while running in the top 10, Edwards was in the top 5 on the final lap! Dario Franchitti has his best finish of his career at this point in his career, David Reutimann leaks oil and falls out of the top 35 in his first race in the #44! Other then that a pretty boring race!! 5. He hurt his back lifting weights on Wed. Sadler makes it all 500 miles and brings home a solid 15th place finish at Martinsville! 6. Also great run for Schrader till his problems, what a shame 7. If so, NASCAR really contradicted themselves by penalizing Kenseth. It made no sense then and it still doesn't. As for the Bill Elliott commit line, they shouldn't penalize at this track because normally there is a cone but because of this ridicous pit road. Smallest in all of NASCAR yet where they had backstretch pits are now garage stalls. They should of come up with what NASCAR does at Bristol. As for Elliott Sadler, a big ATTA boy to last all 500 laps. McDowell was making his first start and was racing for a good position so he couldn't just move over because he would of lost positions. When Jeff Burton was young I WILL GUARANTEE that he was in the way because look at his stats in 1994 and 1995 in Cup. Just another WHINER that drivers chevy's. 8. Yet Jr fades in the end, and Hamlin takes the cake. No cautions in the last 89 laps produces boring finish in my opinion. Congratulations to Mr. Matt Kenseth. You can't just wreck people on purpose. Nice to see Nascar take a stand on that one. Funny too because Yates is basically the same team as Roush..sharing drivers and chassis and all. 9. A good race I thought, plenty of action and twists in strategy. I just hope people don't look at those empty seats and think Martinsville should lose a date. First of all, lots of tracks are having trouble selling out, and secondly the conditions were awful. I had on a long sleeve shirt with a coat and a hood and I still shivered the whole time. Martinsville has a lot of walk up ticket sales the day of the race and I don't blame many of those for staying home for this one. 10. Sheet Metal posted: 03.31.2008 - 3:18 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) I don't know why Nascar feels the need to throw a caution for even the most minor incidents. When cars spin or get sideways, but keep going without hitting anything, don't throw the damn yellow! 21 cautions last fall, and 18 in this race. Totally interrupts the flow of the race. Under green flag conditions, the racing action was very good. The COT may be a bitch to drive, but it sure is durable. 13. Baker posted: 03.31.2008 - 3:42 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) I hope that is not a hendricks fan crying because they dominated and didn't win. Joe Gibbs Racing has that garbage happen all the time, and usually not due to the driver(Flat tires, Oil pump cable, fuel pick up, idiot drivers like Gilliland, Buckshot Jones, freak debris cautions ect.) Oh, and what does having a successful african american have anything to do with having a great sport? Last I checked there just weren't many interested in driving. And Bill Lester was a horrible driver I don't care if he was white he was horrible. Don't worry though because JGR has Marc Davis who will be the first African American to be successful in NASCAR you can count on it. 14. Highly doubt that. With a lineup of Hamlin, Ky. Busch, Stewart and in the near future, Joey Logano, I don't see how Davis will play into the equation. If you can only have 4 cup teams then you don't have room for Davis. Unless you move somebody to replace J.J. Yeley at Hall of Fame Racing which uses Gibbs stuff. I don't see that happening either because HOF has signed Brad Coleman to be their test driver and probably make a handfull of Cup races in the second half. As a result it appears that the reason Gibbs has Davis is to help get him exposure. In what used to be the Busch North/East Series, I remember Logano running great but Davis seemed to have a lot of problems. 15. Yet whenever Michael gets spun Darrell has a damn near heart attack and starts going on about how Mikey got spun 16. On the track, in the cars is not an appropriate place to do so. Slug the guy after the race instead. Martinsville is a type of track like Bristol that NASCAR should let the drivers get their frustrations out against other drivers, especially if you are a past champion and get turned around by someone that hasn't accomplished much like Gilliland. If NASCAR would ask Martinsville to add a little banking then drivers wouldn't have to tag someone to pass because they could make the track a two lane track. And while they'd be at it, fix the dang pit road. NASCAR has a great idea for Bristol but they can't because where the backstretch pits were are now garage stalls. Did you know that only the top 35 have the luxary of having their hauler in the infield. I disagree with that because if you start 35 cars then its all right, but they start 43 so everyone should be out or in, not majority in and the rest out. 18. Baker posted: 04.01.2008 - 10:54 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Marc Davis is only 17 there chief. Joey Logano will get a cup ride over him no doubt, but Davis still has 4-5 year in Busch before he is going to get into Cup. By then Tony Stewart is going to be 41-42 or older. Denny will be 32-33 and his contract will have run out who know maybe he slumps like Burton and doesn't get resigned you never know. Either way Marc Davis is going to be a successful African American Driver even if Joe Gibbs can't put him in a cup car because someone else will. He may never run for the Championship, but he will get a win or two and be a Top 25 driver on a regular basis. 19. talon64 posted: 04.03.2008 - 7:16 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) I was glad to see fortunes reversed for once. Anonymous posted: 04.06.2008 - 7:55 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Decent race and why can't they put a couple of less cars in the field. Why does it have to be 43 every week? Does this have something to do with Richard Petty's number as 43? The only reason I am saying less cars on short tracks because it makes pit road ultra-cramped and lapped traffic ultra-cramped. 22. sheet metal posted: 04.10.2008 - 7:52 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Prior to 1998, the short tracks only ran 36 cars. However, too many full-time cars were being sent home, and their sponsors weren't happy (sound familiar?), so Nascar went to 43 cars across the board. Years ago, the 43rd spot was indeed added because of Richard Petty, and is what we now call the past-champion provisional. His car number is just a coincidence. I agree with you that 43 cars at Martinsville is too much. 23. Obviously not doing anything with NASCAR, let alone a successful CUP driver. Darrell Wallace seems to be the up and coming African American NASCAR racer IMO. 29. Took 3 non nascar fans to the race and had fun. This was the first race for sponsor BB&T in the cup series on Clint Bowyers RCR machine. I have a rear quarter panel off the car as I worked for the sponsor. Bowyer would go on to take the BB&T colors to victory Lane at Richmond. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
