Great side by side racing, this is perhaps the only track the COT is any good on. Dale Earnhardt Jr and Mark Martin put on a show dominating the mid-end portion of the race. It came down to fuel milage..Jimmie Johnson and Clint Bowyer stayed out...everyone else pitted. To be fair Johnson did have the best car. I dont see JJ Yeley in the 96 car much longer either.... 2. 48HMS4life posted: 04.13.2008 - 2:29 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) The COT provides for great racing on the the lower bank tracks, due to its lack of aerodynamic dependence @ those tracks. Jimmie's gamble to opt for not pitting payed off big time. During the closing laps Chad told him to constantly slow down his pace. But this wasn't to make sure he finished the race, just to have enough fuel for a victory burn out. Which didn't work out too well on the backstretch when he finally ran out of gas during his victory lap. 3. Reminded me of the way ABC/ESPN pre-empted CART and IRL races 10 years ago. 7. Just Jimmie Johnson. 8. MegaRacer posted: 04.13.2008 - 5:33 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) BTW, it was a baseball game that had been delayed 2 hours due to rain. 9. Gilliland finished better than where he started all but once, and Kvapil all but three times, and one of them was a finish in the same place he started. Maybe the sponsors for JJ Yeley or the second (84) Red Bull car can sponsor a Yates car and have themselves in every week. 10. Once again Dale Jr runs up front and fades at the end. I notice a trend here. Yeley will be gone soon. No doubt. 11. Gregg A. Shultz posted: 04.13.2008 - 9:59 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Mark Martin is an amazing stock car driver. The fact that he ran up front all evening and had a chance to win the race up until the fuel 'gambling' is simply a credit to Martin's ability. There is no doubt if he ran the entire season that he would easily make it into the chase. Considering his age and how others in his situation have struggled makes it even more incredible to see the way that he wheels a car. 12. DLP has a partnership with Joe Gibbs Racing as does Hall of Fame Racing. If DLP where to switch to Yates then they would lose out on a much better team in Joe Gibbs racing for Nationwide and eventually their 4th car when Joey Lagano makes his move to cup. The second "RED BULL" car? Wow. It is team "RED BULL" why would they go and sponser another team? J.J. Yeley will be replaced in the 96 car before DLP leaves because I am sure they want to keep that conection with Joe Gibbs racing for when Joey Lagano makes his debut. 14. But I was a little dissapointed that Johnson won....but I was so happy because I two favortie drivers Earnhardt and Martin were 1-2 for 150 laps....I was happy but also nervous because of fuel. Anyway great side by side racing throughout the pack. And once agian the front row is bitten at Phoenix. Who knows maybe if Jr. can keep this consitencey he'll come back here in Novemeber and seal up a title 15. Congratulations to Johnson and HMS for getting their first win of the season. Hopefully they don't get many more. And great job by Hornish to stay only a lap down and finish the race without stopping at the end. The 20th put him solidly in a Talladega and possibly for a few weeks. 17. Shane posted: 04.14.2008 - 4:04 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) What a drive for Johnny Sauter. He drove a crappy car from 42nd starting position to 16th before he was caught up in an accident. This was going to be one of the biggest stories of the race. A 1-Race deal, taking a car from outside the top-35 into the top 15 and securing a spot a Talladega. Instead, it'll probably go unoticed. Shame. 18. Zeppelin posted: 04.15.2008 - 5:10 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) No, Zed. Wal-Mart does not need to be a sponsor. 19. How is the 96 a superior team to Yates? It isn't worth waiting for Joey Logano to turn 18 (he's still in high school for God's sake). Besides, he is gonna run a year in Busch before goig to Cup anyway. I think DLP should drop the 96 and go with the 38 or 28 22. Baker posted: 04.20.2008 - 6:23 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Durka Durka buddy the 96 is not a superior team. The affiliation they have with Joe Gibbs racing is the ultimate prize DLP wants. What would be the points in switching to a scrub team with scrub drivers when you can just continue sponsering a scrub team and scrub drivers(Yeley will be gone) for the next year and half until Joe Gibbs ups to 4 teams for Joey Lagano. If you switch now they'll never be able to land a talent like or oppurtunity like that for a long while. 23. Anonymous posted: 05.01.2008 - 8:39 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Travis Kvapil finished in the top 10 at Talladega with Gilliland finishing in the top 15, while JJ Yeley, the driver of the "ultimate prize" 96 car failed to qualify. Besides, Joe Gibbs's 4th car will not have any owner points behind it, and JJ Yeley showed the mall at Talladega that it isn't worth waiting for him to run a partial NWide schedule this year, run the wull n-wide schedule next year and finally go to cup TWO FULL YEARS from now. Yates needs a sponsor, and if they had financial backing, they would be a threat to win. 24.
