Montoya and Hamlin may have had something for Busch if it stayed green. EXCELLENT runs by Ragan and Vickers, who stayed near the front all day, and Paul Menard too. Kudos to Kvapil on another good run! 2. Clayton posted: 04.27.2008 - 8:25 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) What a race!! Now I think Kyle Busch passed Michael Waltrip under the yellow line to take the lead, but IDK. It was really close! The bigone started when contact was made between Dale Earnhardt Jr and Tony Stewart. Tony hit Bobby Labonte, and Martin Truex Jr and Jamie McMurray among others. David Ragan, Travis Kvapil, Brian Vickers had awesome runs. Ragan looked strong all day. Kvapil was there at the end along with Vickers. Paul Menard was running pretty good, but he got punted by Juan Pablo Montoya, who went below the yellow and tapped Menard. Sterling Marlin ran alright all day in his first race of 2008. I love Talladega and today was an excellent race. So many drivers ran great. Hopefully now Kvapil can have sponser on the car for the remainder of 2008. He had a hell of a run with Northen Tool on his car this week. 3. samfan08 posted: 04.27.2008 - 9:23 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Great runs for Montoya, Ragan, and Kvapil. Someone needs to sponsor the Yates cars NOW. Despite finishing 35th, I'd say Sam Hornish has a good idea of how to restrictor plate race. He's been running in the top 10 in both plate races and came from the back to near the front before falling laps down today. If only he could figure out the other types of track as well. 4. The COT makes for awesome racing on plate tracks. With the crash on the final lap, does anyone know how they determined the finishing order? Since the wrecked cars couldn't "maintain reasonable speed under caution" as the rule mandates, how are they scored? It seems like the results changed several times after the race before they finally figured it all out. A shame to see Blaney DNQ for this race given that he was so strong at Daytona and here last fall. BDR has completely fallen out of relevance. 6. I think NASCAR made the right call on Kyle Busch being forced below the line, they showed it in stop action on Wind Tunnel, and it did look as though the #48 bumped him down there. I'm not a big fan of plate races, but this one was good. The only way it could have been better would be if the second Big One hadn't happened on the last lap. 7. Those guys were up front for most of the day. Tough luck for JR, and Stewart who had possibly the two best cars, but got caught up in accidents. Blown tires for Kenseth and Edwards. Heads up to Stremme who was in the top 5 until the last few laps when he got caught up in a wreck. Overall a very exciting race. 10. He would've had a better finish than either Franchitti or Sorenson so far this year if not for that crash. Nice to see Kvapil and Ragan run well. Hopefully Roush will keep Ragan instead of McMurray at the end of the year. And please, someone, sponsor the Yates cars. 19. My boy Front Row Joe, was on the pole and wrecked at the end too. But what a run for Stremme considering he didn't have anytime in that car. Robby Gordon finished 11th in a car that P.J. Jones practiced and qualified, because Robby was at the Dakar Rally makeup in Europe!! 20. Dodge posted: 04.29.2008 - 7:49 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Spen, yes you are right. Anonymous posted: 04.29.2008 - 9:08 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Why would Roush keep Ragan instead of McMurray? McMurray has 2 wins, and Ragan has none. In fact, Ragan has only 3 top-5 finishes in 47 starts and has never won a race in any of the three series in his entire short, pathetic career. With Roush equipment, I would have expected him to have won a few races already. 22. Scott posted: 04.29.2008 - 5:36 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Not too bright, huh? If you notice, as soon as he passed Jeff Gordon, he was off the pace. I just wonder why they have him scored behind all the cars that wrecked, especially McDowell. Unless it was a penalty or something. 25. Taylor posted: 05.26.2008 - 12:21 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Menard would have finished better if Montoya didn't spin him out. He'll never learn. 26. Apparently pushing your own car is allowed, just getting outside help on the last lap is not. 28. McMurray has reached his max, We've seen improvement from David Ragan! This kid is going to be excellent! He might make the chase and McMurray is no where close!! That's why he'll keep Ragan and not McMurray. That was a really stupid comment! I don't understand the tough luck for JR. He caused both wrecks and that is tough luck? Tough luck that he isn't talented?? I guess that is what they mean! 29. Allmendinger back after spending a few weeks on the sidelines for the team to get its act togethe ran well, even leading a lap in this race before being knocked out in the last lap crash. 32. Jarhead posted: 01.12.2009 - 8:37 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Yeah, Mikey wheeled his car right up to Kyle's car. I was sitting on the start/finish line, and I thought there was about to be a fight, but Mikey was just trying to finish. He got out, took a bow, and started pushing his car back to the garage. What really startled me was the blown tire at the end by Michael McDowell. It literally sounded like a bomb went off underneath me. Shredded the tire right off the wheel. I'm not gonna say Junior is a no-talent. But with the addition of Mark Martin at HMS, in my opinion, he is the 4th best driver on his team. But overall this was one of the best Talladega races I ever went to. Definitely better than the last two sleepers I went to there, where Jeff Gordon won after an awful amount of cautions and the one he won and no one could pass him. This was a great one. 33. jp posted: 06.19.2009 - 5:47 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) In my mind, Busch was flagged, and Montoya won. Apparently Hamlin noticed on accident that he could push a car for the entire lap while drafting with Harvick during practice. He did it several times during the race to get to the lead and it would have defiantly come into play for the win had that last yellow not come out. It only took one year for the rest of the field to catch up as tandems played a very big role in the outcome of this race in 2009. 38. numbah10hatah/NewBrianScottFan posted: 05.26.2014 - 1:54 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Travis Kvapil's best career Sprint Cup finish so far. 39. The flat noses and bumpers of Gen 5's COT and 2011-2012 make allowed cars to do this. 44.
