Fastest car doesn't always win, this is a prime example. And this is an example of a team that can rebound from having a bad day AKA a team that can be a championship contender. 3. He's having a great year, and now i hope all the critics have been silenced. Sam Hornish Jr had a great race running 2nd..and even leading 2 laps..near the end, but during pit stops dropped back in the pack and ended up spinning. Great run also for Carpentier untill he was involved in the last lap crash with Waltrip and Truex. 4. I thought it was overall a very exciting race, great side by side racing, interesting story line...best Michigan race since 1994 when Ernie Irvan was injured in practice. 5. Allmendinger was pretty good, too. Redbull racing is looking good. Paul Menard won the office pool for me! Great run! Casey Mears has been terrible this season. I don't see Hendrick tolerating such poor performance. 8. I know it wasn't Carpentier's fault but still!! He is struggling all year!! Open Wheelers need more expirence before comming to cup!! another prime example!! Here's a question!! Why the hell did McMurray pit at the end! He pitted 7 laps after Junior and Kahne, so you Pit?? I don't really understand that!! I mean he isn't making the chase and he isn't falling out of the top 35, so why not risk it? IMO that was dumb! 9. samfan22 posted: 06.15.2008 - 9:52 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Great job by Hornish. First laps led in his Cup career, and it looked like he had a chance to win it. Fuel mileage, debris on the grill, and a very loose car put him back in 22nd, but this is a sign of what he can do. Expect more out of him in the coming months. Oh, and congratulations to Dale Jr. too. I'm not exactly a fan, but it's always nice to see a driver end a losing streak after putting in a lot of hard work. Neal posted: 06.16.2008 - 11:19 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) WallaceFan - I don't know what race you were watching, but in typical Michigan fashion it was a craptastic fuel mileage contest. Michigan is bar none the worst track on the circuit. You'll get 10 laps of side-by-side racing followed by 80 laps of spread out single file racing , then a debris caution, 10 more laps of side-by-side racing, rinse, lather, repeat. In addition, 9 times out of 10 fuel mileage decides the winner. If that track weren't so close to Detroit it would've suffered the same fate as Texas World because it sucks. 19. DaleSrFanForever posted: 06.16.2008 - 1:38 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) In 3 of the last 4 races the 88 team has gotten lucky on strategy to give them a much better finish than their car. At Charlotte, after Jr lost it and hit the wall, they gambled on fuel to get a top five. At Pocono they gambled on fuel again and got a late caution to get a top 5, then this race. That is the kind of thing that usually comes back to bite you. They aren't as strong as they were, the pack is catching up. 27. DaleSrFanForever posted: 06.16.2008 - 1:54 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) And what the hell is going on with RCR?? As a Lexington, NC native I want them to do well, but they just can't maintain momentum. The 07 wins Richmond in dramatic fashion and then falls all to crap. The last few weeks have been embarrassing. Michael Waltrip is outrunning them, which is saying something. The 31 is doing a very good job of grinding races out and getting good finishes, but have been running midpack lately. Still the RCR flag bearer, thanks to the poise of Burton. And Lord knows what is up with the 29 team. They are the most schizophrenic team I have ever seen. Speaking of not keeping momentum, they had an incredible 2006 then had an incredibly dramatic Daytona 500 win to begin 2007 and then..... nothing. They haven't really come very close to winning since except for once or twice. This race he beat his own record for longest streak without a DNF, but during that streak he has only won twice. During his other streak, he only won once. They are way too focused on creeping up on finishes, and not enough on winning and running up front. Look, I know they are all in the Top 12, but I think they could be doing better if they weren't so concerned with never having a failure. They just can't maintain momentun this way, and get on the kind of roll that wins championships. Yes consistency wins titles, but so do Top 3's and bonus points for laps led. The fact is this: Matt Kenseth WILL make the Chase this year. Him and Chip are finally getting their act together. Somebody currently in the Top 12 will need to step aside, and I'm afraid that unless they step it up, it will be one of RCR's cars. They have enough talented employees to run up front, so they need to. 28. haywood posted: 06.16.2008 - 1:59 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) "You never see it but a rule is a rule. Like I said earlier, if Kahne or anybody else had been leading and did that while Jr. was in second, you guys would be saying that they needed to be penalized. If you say that you wouldn't, then you are lying. If it isn't a rule then why do the Spotters and crew chiefs warn the drivers as they pull off of the track to pit before the commitment cone? Answer that, will ya. I am not like most of you and complain about the competition. It is what it is. But when a rule was broken, it should be dealt with. It would of been understandable if it happened once. Would of been like shame on me, I won't do that again. Wouldn't be surprised if that is his only win this year. How much longer until Casey Mears is fired? Another 30th place finish without any sort of mechanical failure. Just sad. The lucky dog rule needs to go. Lighten up about the pacecar deal, it's by no means the first time its ever been done. Something of larger concern is the fact that NASCAR made Mark Martin restart in front of Brian Vickers, 7 positions ahead of where Martin was when the lap 198 caution came out. Forget Jr. passing the pacecar, in the age of GPS scoring, I have no clue how NASCAR could allow this to happen and then refuse to place the 8 where it belonged. 40. Who's the driver that needs to move everyone out of the way and wreck a dozen cars to win all his races? Yeah you know who, so stop being a bunch of hypocrites and saying that Jr didn't deserve to win, because he obviously deserves it more than Kyle "I'll wreck as many people as I want to" Busch. 63. I'm not saying he can win the championship, but soon, he can get a top-10 points finish, and a couple wins. 64. I wouldn't mind if his entire operation just disappeared considering how he's treated his drivers and employees. At least Sterling got to drive the #40 car again this year before the entire team closed up. 65. kbf2 posted: 08.02.2008 - 1:25 pm Rate this comment: (0) (2) Funny how all the Kyle Busch fans come out of the woodwork and call foul on Jr's win. It would have been Kenseth or Vickers. NASCAR favors Junior becuase it was obvious that Mark would have run out. Nothing against Mark though 68. jr88fan posted: 10.06.2009 - 8:35 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) 30. NazRacePhan posted: 06.16.08 - 3:57 pm Hmm..... Father's Day weekend??? 76 race winless streak??? It's not the tracks fault that the cars don't draft well and are going to fast for exicting racing like MIS used to have in the 1980's and early 90's. 72.
