He had a strong car all day but their rain strategy backfired on them. Another dead last performance for Mikey. I feel for Reutimann. He's the only one who can get anything out of the junk that MWR fields. 2. It would've helped in the points standings. 3. DaleSrFanForever posted: 08.03.2008 - 10:32 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) The second rain shower was the key. It gave those who pitted during the first rain fall the extra caution laps they needed to make it to the end. Otherwise Kasey would have won. I thought it was a good race for Pocono. 4. Once agian had the car to beat and his pit crew costs him the race and is bitten by the fuel bug. He shoulda won Phoenix and shoulda won today. I just hope when he joins Hendrick he can finally catch some luck. Ok im gettin off the soap box. Definitely much much better than Indy. The last 30 laps were interesting to say the least. Another great run by David Ragan as I think he can and might just make this chase. Also first top 20 for McCumbee. And Bill Elliott has a good run for his first top 20 in almost a year. To finish up good race and these next few races till Richmond are gonna be interesting 5. b4il3y posted: 08.04.2008 - 4:37 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Good win for Carl. Great run for Chad McCumbee finishing 17th in sub-standard Petty Equipment. He's not a bad driver, and should be fun to watch in the next few years. 6. gü posted: 08.04.2008 - 9:51 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) David Reutimann out of fuel on last lap. Could have been a top-10-finish 7. DaleSrFanForever posted: 08.04.2008 - 11:53 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) I agree with you guys, Reutimann is doing one hell of a job. When you consider how far out to lunch his teammates are, it is incredible. Even Dale Jarrett couldn't do as well as Reut. If given good equipment, I think he could contend. Now granted, Mikey and McDowell are not A-List drivers (or B-list or C-list for that matter), and I think DJ already had his heart set his post racing career, it is still very impressive what David has done. He runs in the top 25 most of the time while his teammates are not even in the Top 35. 8. haywood posted: 08.04.2008 - 1:36 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) a "good race at pocono" is a boring race at most other facilities. this track sucks, the thing is way too old, and the race is way too long. these have been needing to be reduced to 400 milers (or less) for a looooooooooooooooooooooooong time. 9. I'll take even a bad race at Pocono over those lame-a$$ tracks any day. Indianapolis is 99 years old, Martinsville is 61, Darlington is 58, Watkins Glen is 55, Daytona is 50, Bristol is 46, Michigan is 40, Dover is 40, and Talladega is 39. Pocono is newer than all those tracks at 34. 11. Woodbridge posted: 08.04.2008 - 4:25 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Top-15 runs for Vickers, Reutimann, Riggs, and Gilliland all ruined by running out of fuel in the closing laps. :( Great run by Carl who admitted he wasn't racing for the win, and was running "experimental setups." 12. It's been this way for several years now, Roush/Yates engines get great fuel millage!! No mention of David Ragan or Bill Elliott??? We mention David Reutimann and Michael Waltrip?? Here's the deal on Waltrip. Harry Hogge in Days of Thunder said it best "Get out of the race car, get out whoooo!!" McDowell is awful. Waltrip has lived off his last name for his whole career and then hires an ARCA driver who hasn't done a thing. Yes MWR's equiptment stinks, but McDowell is now OUT of the top 35. However, my boy Awesome Bill takes a team with hardly any sponsership, and a single car operation and finishs 20th!!! and David Ragan continued to impress again yesterday!! This kid has an excellent chance at the chase!! but we are worried about a never was in Michael Waltrip and a never will be in McDowell! Also not mentioned- Tony Raines!! as Benny Parsons would say "AT A BOY" Nice job for him as well!! Best finish of the year for the 70. and McCumbee is gonna be pretty good! I hope Petty locks him up for a long time!! NICE JOB there too! 14. Edwards 99 posted: 08.04.2008 - 10:23 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) BIG WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Close the gap to Busch to 40 points (chase bonus points). Like what I'm seeing from Carl and Bob. Remind me of Jimmie and Chad, Not the best car at the start of the race but improve as the day goes on and almost always a top 5 car at the end of the day. 15. michael posted: 08.05.2008 - 12:07 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) reutimmann is not even close to being an ok driver 16. samfan22 posted: 08.05.2008 - 9:00 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Reutimann is more than an OK driver. He's the only thing MWR has. I hope he goes to Childress so we can see what he can do. He's definitely got the most out of his equipment over there. Pretty good run for Hornish until the fuel mileage bit him. After the first Pocono race, it was surprising to see him hold in the top 15 as long as he did. 17. Dodge posted: 08.05.2008 - 10:49 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Clayton, You say McDowell didn't accomplish anything in the ARCA series, not true. He won several poles and wins and ended up I believe 2nd in points. If his stupid teammate, Ken Butler III, didn't wreck him at one race last year, he may of been the ARCA champ. Let's not forget that McDowell hasn't seen many of these tracks in a stockcar, he came up thru the grand am and indycar series. Plus, last year when he was racing ARCA, they used Hoosier tires. Let's give him time to see if he will have a better end of summer into fall just like Ragan needed last year. 18. DaleSrFanForever posted: 08.05.2008 - 1:49 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) LOL, Ken Butler III. Can you say "nepotism". Clayton, that is hilarious about "get out of the car wooo". I guess we talk about him so much because it is so pathetic. It is like a train wreck, wondering how much worse can it get. You are right about those other guys needing to be mentioned. McDowell was thrown to the wolves. He needs WAY more experience before being put in a piece of garbage like the third car in one of the worst organizations running today. And David Reutimann is doing an outstanding job driving Mikey's jalopies. MWR hasn't produced a decent car all year, except for Mikey's car at Loudon where he passed all those cars and finished second in an incredible driving performance, just ask Mikey. 19. DaleSrFanForever posted: 08.07.2008 - 12:34 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Michael, you have to consider the equipment he drives. When you put what he has done next to the results of everyone else who has driven MWR Toyotas, including a champion in Dale Jarrett, it is quite impressive. And just consider how much better he runs during the race as compared to his teammates. Pay attention to the ticker, he is usually at least 10 positions ahead of his other teammates. Like Woodbridge said, put him equipment run by somebody who is actually competent in business and competition, and he'll do much better. If Jimmie Johnson drove MWR Toyotas, he wouldn't contend either. Yeah, the Yeley thing is way overdue. I'm surprised it didn't happen earlier. He just never adapted to stock cars. All of his good finishes (all two of them) were flukes. I just hope they aren't throwing Brad Coleman to the wolves. I think he has a lot of talent, I just hope HOF gets better and allows him to showcase it. 29. Neal posted: 08.08.2008 - 10:29 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Michael Waltrip's second place a Loudon was a COMPLETE FLUKE. Had the race gone the distance he would've finished 25th or worse. Look at his finishes for the entire season. Only ONCE has Michael finished better than 23rd, and that was at Loudon. Mikey's average finishing position is 29.0. Reutimann's is 24.9. Given the same crap cars, Reutimann is the better driver. 33. Clayton posted: 08.08.2008 - 12:02 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) DaleSrFanForever- Right on about Michael Waltrip. LOVE the Loudon and the comment on his driver page!! lol!! That's hilarious. Brad Coleman will do a better job in the 96. Why??? He can't do much worse!! 34. michael posted: 08.08.2008 - 3:39 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Right about the average finish but Reutimann had a 30.4 last year. Disappointing that Mark's strategy backfired. Great to see Crybaby Kyle run out of gas with two to go. Great run for McCumbee considering the equipment he was running in. 38. Rusty posted: 08.11.2008 - 3:41 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Glad Yeley is finally gone. But couldn't they have gotten someone to replace him that's actually better than him? In 43 career Nationwide starts Brad Coleman has 3 top 5s and 7 top 10s. With a career average finish of 22.4. If he can only manage measley numbers like that in Nationwide, it won't be pretty in Cup driving for a team way outside of the top 35 despite having a top 5 finish to their credit. Coleman will miss races, and when he does qualify he'll be driving for 35th place with Michael McDowell, Michael Waltrip, Sam Hornish, Paul Menard, Regan Smith, David Gilliland, Whoever is driving the 45, whoever is driving the 70, and whoever is driving the 21 (Unless it's Marcos Ambrose on a road course, but were done on those for the year. 39. Roadkill posted: 08.12.2008 - 8:11 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Rusty, I wouldn't put David Gilliland in that group of losers. He's been a top 25 driver all season, but has suffered through horrendous luck the last few months. Seriously, though...why Brad Coleman? Johnny Benson wins three straight truck races and no one even considers him for a Cup ride. Oh I almost forgot, marketability counts for more than talent in Brian France's NASCAR. 40. Willy on Wheels posted: 08.30.2008 - 6:15 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) I wouldn't put Gilliland, or Marcos Ambrose in the loser bunch. They just have really crappy equipment, partial schedule in Ambrose's case and awful luck. Ambrose's average finish for the races he has finished is like 13th, and David Gilliland fell only to Kyle Busch at Infineon earlier this year. Also, you missed AJ Allmendinger and the 08/34 in the loser group. 41.
