Contact between Casey Mears and Michael Waltrip, after Mears' spotter told him he was clear and he drove up into Waltrip, triggers a multi-car wreck. And Ford Racing in victory lane 1 more time. Kyle Busch and Carl Edwards have spinning match after the race. Carl actually spins kyle's car all the way around, and then Kyle cried like a 4 yr old in K-Mart in the post races interview, stating the bump and run isnt a clean move. Carl says now there is a rivalry between the two, and Carl said "I said to myself, would he do that to me, and he has before so..." 2. 28AllisonFan posted: 08.24.2008 - 7:52 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Perhaps the most inoccuous "bump and run" I have ever seen at Bristol or anywhere. Saw a ton of post-race attitude from KB, but nothing to the effect of "let's go out behind the barn and throw some hands"... he knows how that would end. Carl made that move because KB set himself up for it. I think the 160K fans there that night would agree with me. Oh, and for anyone who thinks Carl did anything wrong, I say you take away the ability to do what he did you take away the MAGIC that is Bristol. I think he is the most talented active driver, considering that he has 6 wins already and none of his teammates have any, while the whole Gibbs team is fast. The second time Kasey was taken out early by something not his fault. Besides Dave blaney and possibly Dale Jr, he is the most unlucky race car driver. I hope he still makes the chase, since he has more wins this year than Bowyer (1) and Ragan (0) combined. 4. A Bristol-esque eight car crash happened at Lap 217, Carl pulled out the good ol' Bump-N-Run on Crybaby Kyle with 25 to go and won the race. Then, after the race, Crybaby Kyle created some post-race fireworks by running Edwards into the wall, but Edwards retaliated and spun the crybaby out. It's honestly been a long time since I cheered that hard at a race when Carl spun out Kyle. 6. It's about time we hear that from one of Mikey's "peers" (superiors actually). It's good to hear the other drivers take offense to sponsors giving their money to untalented, unproven, unworthy drivers because they can put on a fake personality for TV. Hell of a recovery for the 07 team by the way, and a good performance hours after announcing that both Clint and the 07 team are being shafted next year, I'll talk more about that in a day or two. Big time kudos to Carl Edwards, one for finally forcing Kyle to take some of his own medicine, and two for being totally unapologetic for it. When Kyle wrecks Dale Jr at Richmond, or spins out Johnny Benson on the last lap at Martinsville, or wrecks Ron Hornaday at Michigan it is just racing, but Carl barely bumps him out of the way and that is dirty. Carl had the best car on that final run anyways, pulling away after he got the lead and Kyle got clear of Denny. What a hypocrite and a loser. THAT is why he isn't liked. He is like a 4 year old. His whole life people have handed him everything and kissed his ass, he is so spoiled and undeserving. And it was good of Carl to spin him out after the race after Kyle rammed him. Don't let Kyle get the last bump in. Show him that you won't stand down to him and that you aren't afraid to mix it up with him. Show him that his sense of entitlement is bogus and that the world doesn't revolve around him. Do you people still think Kyle can't be rattled? He can hear footsteps, and that is Carl Edwards, and he is starting to lose it. And one other thing, I wouldn't be calling Carl "Mr. Ed" if I looked like Kyle Busch does. It looks like Pee Wee Herman and a space alien mated, and the result was Kyle. Jeez, you could use his forehead as a movie projector screen, if it wasn't covered in zits. 15. He acts all rough and tough on the track, spinning people out on purpose, and when someone barely taps him for the lead, she cries like a little bitch. What a wimp. "And then (after bumping him out of the way to win) he has the audacity to spin Kyle after that! That's not racing, that's dirty driving" You haven't been watching NASCAR at all, have you? That said, you guys are all one sided hypocrites. Calling Kyle Busch a hypocrite is hilarious seening how you all love Dale Senior, but hate Busch for the same exact driving tactics. Ron Hornaday at Michigan was just pay back, every driver does that from time to time. Dale Junior at Richmond was Kyle pushing his car beyond the limit and getting lose. Watch the freaking race again. It was a product of hard racing he didn't turn directly into Junior just to wreck him. Johnny Benson as Martinsville was Kyle Busch being an idiot and in way over his head with that pass attempt. That is what young talented guys do. It wasn't dirty driving because his intention was not to wreck Benson, but to pass him. I've seen Carl wreck his fair share of drivers in all three series too. He will not win the championship if Carl has anything to say about it, and Carl has plenty to say. Speaking of Carl, congrats on his sixth win of the year and second at Bristol. The bump and run that 'The Carl' made wasn't anything worth crying over. He merely moved Kyle a half a lane up the track, enough so that Carl could squeeze by. The old Bristol is gone? Ha! It's just been sleeping. The drivers have gotten used to the new surface, and are more comfortable pulling the moves that made the old Bristol an event to keep both eyes on. Oh, and did anyone else see a mature Denny in the post-race interviews? Please tell me I wasn't hallucinating when Denny - gasp! - actually had a clear, level head when he was speaking to the reporters! It was like the 2006 Denny resurfaced past the angst filled punk that Denny's become since early 2007. It was refreshing to see the honest, mature Denny again after a year and a half of him being an arrogant ass. 24. roadkill posted: 08.25.2008 - 10:59 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Does anyone have worse luck than Dave Blaney? He's been in wrecks not of his own making in three consecutive races. Same thing happened last year, too. Even though I'm not a Clint Bowyer fan, it makes me mad that Childress would take away his crew and owner points in favor of the pathetic Casey Mears. How many chances is this guy going to get? It was nice of him to admit he was off base with his Michigan comments. Everyone makes mistakes, it takes real men to admit it. But I'm gonna wait to see if it sticks. The last two years have been bitterly disappointing for someone like me who really wanted to pull for him. Hopefully Michigan will force him to take a hard look at himself and go back to what got him a 3rd place points finish in his rookie year. Great post roadkill. No, nobody has had worse luck this year than Dave, and I feel bad for it. This is a crucial time for that team. They need a sponsor for next year, so they need to get TV time doing something other than wrecking to show sponsors what they can expect. Toyota hasn't been the knight in shining armor this team expected. They gave up 3 and a half years of manufacturer support waiting for Toyota, and were one of the first to jump on the rice burning wagon, so it is disappointing to see. But I really agree with your second point. Not only are they giving Casey the 07 car, but also the points and the TEAM!! You are right, Casey doesn't deserve this, but also Clint and that team don't deserve this. The team will be getting a CLEAR step down in the driver's seat. Driver does matter, and that team's chances of winning have just decreased dramatically. They are mad, and rightfully so. They deserve better than Casey Mears. And Clint shouldn't be forced to get used to another group of guys. And besides, this is a bad for RCR as a whole. Aside from having to get used to four teams, they have TWO new driver/team combinations. I understand the sponsor switch, I am glad that General Mills wanted a driver that can actually *gasp* run up front and win races, but let Clint keep the team and points. HE earned them. I just don't understand it. 27. Rusty posted: 08.25.2008 - 3:16 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) roadkill, Bowyer is not losing his owner points. The 33 team will receive the 07's owner points. Also, I'm almost as sick of Carl Edwards winning as I am Kryle Busch at this point. I want to see a new face in victory lane for a change, just not Carl and Kryle. Wanna give some props to the DEI cars in 13th and 14th. Almirola got a top 10 at Bristol in the spring, this time he runs solidly and gets a top 15, and Regan Smith probably with the best run of his career. 28. Matt G posted: 08.25.2008 - 3:28 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) I agree with Edwards99 about Carl??s Chase chances and about Loudon and Martinsville being keys for the #18 and #99 teams but I don??t agree that Carl has the advantage at those tracks. Although Kyle struggled at both of these places the first time around he has history on his side. Busch has made seven starts at both Martinsville and Loudon and has posted three top fives at each venue including a win at New Hampshire. Edwards has eight starts at each of these tracks but has only one top five at New Hampshire and a best finish of ninth at Martinsville to show for it. Another thing that shouldn??t be overlooked is how well the other JGR cars ran. Hamlin won Martinsville and Stewart dominated New Hampshire before the frauds played pit strategy and took the top seven spots. This makes me think we will see a much stronger run from the #18 team at these tracks when we return in the fall. Where I see Edwards making up his ground is at the intermediate (1.5 and 2 mile) tracks. In eight intermediate races this year Edwards has four wins compared to Busch??s two. However Busch??s two wins came at Atlanta and Chicago; both races Carl probably would have won if it had not been for engine and splitter problems. Since Nascar thinks it??s a good idea to have no variety and stuff five intermediate tracks in the Chase, (Kansas, Lowe??s, Atlanta, Texas, and Homestead) Edwards may actually be the favorite. If I were Rick Hendrick, I wouldn??t allow Eddie Masencup to spot for Casey Mears next week. His boneheaded move not only ended his team??s night; it also may have knocked Kasey Kahne out of the Chase. (Not to mention Bill Elliot and the Wood Brother??s chance at a top 15 finish) Masencup should consider himself lucky that Harvick and Bowyer didn??t end up in the garage due to his stupidity. While I have never been a spotter or on any part of a race team, I do know that one thing you NEVER do as a spotter is clear you driver unless you are sure there is room. If you can??t tell he??s clear you say ??your call? or ??not sure? but you never wreck eight cars like Eddie Masencup did on Saturday night. 29. They are staying with the 07, Childress said so himself. But I predict that Childress buys the 01 team from DEI and uses those owner points to have Clint in the top 35 next season. I also predict that David Ragan will take the final spot for the chase, knocking Clint out. David was very impressive at Bristol, coming from the back in a backup car to finish 10th. 31. roadkill posted: 08.25.2008 - 11:34 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Dave Blaney's horrendous luck this year: Daytona 500: running in the top 10 with 10 to go and gets wrecked, finishes 38th Martinsville: solid top 15 run all day, transmission breaks, finishes 43rd Michigan 1: breaks an axel on lap 5, finishes 39th Watkins Glen: caught up in the melee in turn 11, finishes 41st Michigan 2: decent top 15 run going, gets turned into the wall by Menard, finishes 41st Bristol: drove from 36th to 12th before getting wrecked on the backstretch, finishes 38th.
