Thank you Biffle, I'll root for anyone who takes wins from Johnson and Edwards. This race proved that there are truly best of the best in the chase, I can't wait who this 2008 chase plays out. Tough day for Kenseth, and Kyle Busch's problems leveled the chase points. Jeff Gordon might well be 12th at the end of the season. Theres nothing in his driving, or equipment, that impresses me. This race seemed to be McDowell's screwup-fest. It was fun to watch every restart when McDowell was just about to wreck half of the field, thank god NASCAR black flagged him in the end :D - Maybe I exaggerate but thats how it seemed.. Joey Loganos first Cup race. He stayed out of trouble but other than that didn't make anything worth of notice. Might very well be the team, not the driver. If you can stay out of trouble, why not try harder? OKay this was just only his first start :D 2. NASCAR is trying to figure out more solutions to reduce the cost of the sport! I have an idea. Don't give licenses to drivers who have no stock car expirence. McDowell and the open wheelers have caused 75% of the accidents this season! 3. DaleSrFanForever posted: 09.14.2008 - 8:08 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Way to go Biff! They have been running strong lately, if they can keep it up they might contend for the title. Bad race for Kyle busch, but with all of his bonus points he is still only 74 points out. I hate to say it, but he is definitely still in this thing. The only hope is that this gets in his head and he keeps making mistakes from here on out as he is apt to do when he falls behind. Once again Dale Jr suffers a mid race slide. They made some of it up, but the way they were dominating, to all of the sudden be that far off the pace is pathetic. They can blame the race tires, but that didn't happen to anyone else. I am not a Jr fan, and I think his fans make way too many excuses, but they have the right to be mad at Tony Jr. Tony has a pit road incident then screws himself by speeding under green flag pit stops. Nice comeback, but with the way his car was, he should have been better. If that team can ever put a whole race together, watch out. Jeff Burton shows life after a horrible summer. The other RCR cars finished pretty good, but with their past success at this track, they needed to also be in the Top 5. 4. There is a big flaw. If Kyle wins more then 10 wins and doesn't win a champship, there is a problem. The chase created because Matt Kenseth won 1 race in 2003. Most championships from 1975 to 2003 proved the chase actually makes the points standing worse between first and second. Kyle finish 34th due to a broken swaybar. Michael McDowell caused another wreck. A.J. Allmendinger was wrecked by him. A.J. Allmendinger had a top 20 to 25 going. A.J. Allmendinger shouldn't be the driver to concerned with for screwing the chase contenders at Dover, Martinsville and Talladega. Michael McDowell shouldn't be in cup right now anyway. Joey Logano stayed out of trouble today. I want to see what he does for a "real race team". The 96 never was a good ride a first place. Having an experience driver on that team means bad results. 5. Canadianfan posted: 09.15.2008 - 8:10 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) I believe Joey would have had an amazing run if he could have drove the 02 he showed it in practice at richmond. Put him in the 96 and he is going to go no where fast. Not suprised at all buy his 32nd place finish. 6. Willy on Wheels posted: 09.15.2008 - 11:17 am Rate this comment: (0) (1) Allmendinger and McDowell should sit out the Chase races. I bet both of them will cost at least one driver a shot at the championship with their epic awfulness. Great race, Greg wins and Carl takes the points lead. 7. Red posted: 09.15.2008 - 12:31 pm Rate this comment: (0) (1) McDowell wrecks Allmendinger to knock AJ out of the top 35. At MWR, if you can't outrun `em, wreck `em! Can we make it through one race without a phony debris caution? 8. DaleSrFanForever posted: 09.15.2008 - 1:26 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Here is a quote from Rick Hendrick about Kyle Busch: "He's got to be frustrated," said Rick Hendrick, Busch's former car owner. "To run like he's run, I'm telling you, you've got to learn how to lose. Learning how to win is the easy part. Learning how to lose is the hard part of this deal." THAT is why he let Kyle Busch go from his organization. We discussed this a bit on the Watkins Glen page. I bet all the Chase guys wish Michael McDowell would be taken out of these last races. He tried to cause a wreck on every restart. He just flat out sucks. He is a slow driver AND he wrecks a lot, the double whammy. He could have given Almendinger a little room on that front stretch accident. He had nothing to gain by doing that because he tore his own car up too. That is what happens when you allow dangerously unqualified drivers on NASCAR's biggest stage. McDowell might be the worst driver ever to be given a full time Cup ride. 9. WallaceFan posted: 09.15.2008 - 3:33 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) Joey Logano was driving the "96 car" but not the 96 team. The car he was driving was the exact same car he attempted last week at Richmond. (the #02 JGR Toyota) I think more or less Joey just wanted to get some successfull laps in, which he did, and get a feel for the racecar. He stayed out of trouble and didnt wreck anybody in the chase, so I think he ran a great race. 10. WallaceFan posted: 09.15.2008 - 3:35 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Fairly exciting race, lots of different leaders, some accidents. Most of them caused by McDowell. Not quite sure why someone would jump from Arca to Cup...but its a bad move. Clearly. Anyways exicting start for the chase. Tough day for Busch (sway bar, crash) Great runs for Biff, Burton, Ku Busch, Bobby Labonte, Reutimann, Montoya, Almirola, and the Hass Cars. 11. But maybe it shows how lousy the 96 team is that they couldn't do anything with it. Hopefully Joey will get a chance to actually run the 02 with a full JGR crew when weather doesn't screw it up. 14. DaleSrFanForever posted: 09.16.2008 - 1:32 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Wow. Doug Yates makes some really good horsepower considering he's been dead since 1996. Seriously though, that is obviously a different Doug Yates. Willy, unfortunately you are right, McDow-wall will probably doom someone's championship run. You can't run like he runs without causing a multitude of wrecks. Somebody said what about Larry Foyt and Buckshot Jones. To me, McDow-wall represents what is bad about both of them. He is slow (Foyt) and he wrecks a lot (Buckshot). This all goes back to Mikey's ingenious idea to put an incredibly unqualified dolt into his crappy equipment. Wallacefan mentioned this, it is because of Mikey. He sucks as bad at ownership as he does at driving. Then, on his show last night he says "it feels good to run good". Run good? You finished 25th!!!! Though I guess that is good for Mikey. But attrition gave him most of those spots when better cars wrecked (Busch, Kenseth, Ragan, McMurray, Vickers, Newman, Mears, Gilliland). And now I hear he wants to merge with Ganassi. Talk about the blind leading the blind!! What does either organization have to offer the other?? None can get sponsorship (except NAPA which for some reason keeps throwing themselves all over Mikey), none has decent drivers except Reutimann who will bolt as soon as he gets the chance, and none has shown any competitiveness lately. They need to join up and fold completely. 19. New88Fan posted: 09.16.2008 - 11:37 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) McDow-wall,That's a fitting name for him. 20. Only other driver to win in between was Kurt Busch in the earlier Loudon race. 21. roadkill posted: 09.17.2008 - 2:08 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) It's scary to think that McDowell was the "best" driver in MWR's development program. I can't imagine how pitiful the others must have been (Josh Wise, another ARCA driver, was one of them). Or, Mikey is a just terrible evaluator of talent, which isn't surprising, given that he has none himself. 22. #20 (soon to be #14) fan but #48 HATER! posted: 09.17.2008 - 7:21 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah this is some freakin funny stuff!
