I bet his team feels real stupid about letting him go now. They should at least let him race until Homestead. Also the pole speed here needs to be fixed, it still shows Montoya's time which was disqualified. 3. This one was even worse than his "you only interview me when I run well, or what?" line from last year. Someone pop him in the mouth, please? 4. David Ragan gets his 10th top 10 of the season. Biffle poved his first two weeks in the chase are not flukes. Kurt Bush did poorly in this race for a reason. He was the only dodge to run run their new R6P8 engine. I read that Dodge Motorsports officials quietly distributed a press release at the race's end to announce that their new R6P8 engine had made its competitive debut under the hood of Busch's Penske Dodge. 6. I find it hilarious when people were comparing him the Dale Earnhardt. His average finish this season is 12.5. That's good but there's plenty of guys who have had better seasons. Bobby Labonte's '99 and '00 seasons were better. Hell, when Tony Stewart has a bad season it's usually around 12.5. 9. 18fan posted: 09.29.2008 - 1:50 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Kyle's car had mechanical problems again Classic moment Carl taking the lead from Jimmie and then crashing. There was no way that his car would've stuck 10. myk posted: 09.29.2008 - 1:53 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) whats up w/ the low driver earnings. it looks like something from 98' 11. There was only ONE thing that points out, Edwards last turn turmoil over Johnson, I can't remember anything else from this race. Well actually im not disappointed at all since I knew this is going to be most boring race of the season, and one to miss in chase. Btw, Nemechek didn't crash 12. webmaster posted: 09.29.2008 - 8:09 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) NASCAR's original postrace report had the incorrect money totals, but that has been corrected now. 13. DaleSrFanForever posted: 09.29.2008 - 12:41 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) What an awesome move by Carl Edwards!! I am so glad to see somebody say "Screw the points, I'm going for the win!" Jimmie may have won the race, but it was Carl that will be remembered. I am glad to see the point leaders racing so hard for wins instead of Top 10s. Look at the RCR cars. All three have Top 10s in all three Chase races (except Clint's 12th at Loudon), but no Top 5s, and they are well out of the championship chase currently. Of course Talladega could change that, but if they keep trying to be conservative, they will have no shot, which is a good thing. Yeah, great maturity by Kyle. I just can't stand him, he doesn't deserve such a good ride, talented or not. That sort of payed off my comments from the Watkins Glen race as to why Hendrick dumped his pimple faced ass. Granted the mechanical problems aren't his fault, but he has already thrown in the towel. What a display of disrespect. THAT is why we hate him so much. Let's see you take a bow now!! Have fun finishing 12th, Pee Wee Herman!!! If anyone should get compared to Dale Earnhardt, it is Carl. 14. The improvement he has shown is amazing. I have to eat some crow on this one. To be thrown to the wolves with ZERO stock car experience last year on a brand new team with a brand new manufacturer, and to be where he is now less than two years later shows potential. Also the mental strength is great. To not make half the races last year, be replaced for a few races this year, and not to lose confidence shows mental toughness. He is WAY more mentally suited for this than Kyle Busch. Scott Speed is a mistake. First of all, you are just right back at square one with an inexperienced driver. I know he has a little more stock car experience than AJ had (ARCA, CTS) but not enough to do well in Cup. Plus, he isn't ready. I know he won the truck race at Dover, but he has crashed a lot more than done well. Plus his attitude isn't right. Arrogant people like him always get taken down a few pegs (see Busch, Kyle). This will hurt the entire company. 15. Anonymous posted: 09.29.2008 - 8:06 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Kansas might've been Kyle Petty's last race with Petty Enterpises. I read Petty Enterpises is considering Allmendinger or Michael McDowell to race for them. Petty better not hire Michael McDowell. Kyle can't race anymore or doesn't have enough focus to get good finishes anymore in the top 10 or top 20 regularly. I understand replacing him as a result. McDowell would be in bad equipment, but he would crash the 45 in a lot of races. Allmendinger wouldn't be a bad choice, but He should to MWR if he is smart. MWR actually has decent equipment, but 2 of their driver can't take advantage of it including McDowell. 17. I would pick Speed over Kyle Busch. 18. Baker posted: 09.29.2008 - 10:36 pm Rate this comment: (0) (1) Yay for another finish that makes me puke! Yay for this rigged sport! Yay for Carl Edwards at least attempting to beat the unbeatable through cheating Hendrick scum. If those roles were reversed Johnson's car would have a) stuck because they have supreme equipment via illegal parts Nascar turned the other cheek about or b) spun because JJ doesn't have half the Edwards does. 19. DaleSrFanForever posted: 09.30.2008 - 1:05 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) I agree Willy, I was just using Kyle as the extreme example. The decision to put Scott Speed in came from Red Bull's Austrian headquarters because they like his brash cocky attitude. But that is the type of person that always gets humbled in the world of NASCAR. By the way, that shows why Red Bull will never be elite in NASCAR, they need to have the people making decisions directly involved, not on another continent. Paul Menard goes to Yates Racing. This makes me puke that he is so highly sought after. It is only because of his billionaire daddy writing big checks to these racing companies to let his untalented son race with the best. He doesn't deserve it at all. He has showed NOTHING!! I know DEI is in the crapper right now, but he is always outclassed by his teammates. Paul: if it wasn't for your daddy, you wouldn't be racing ANYWHERE!!!! Looks like Kyle is out at Boston Ventures.. oops.. Petty Enterprises. I have big time mixed feeling about this. From a business and competitive standpoint, I am behind it 100%. He is just puttering around out there going SO slow just trying not to wreck. It was his slow restart that caused Clint to jump the start, although it is Clint who should have been patient, it is understandable. It is obvious the fire, what little fire there was to start with, is totally extinguished. He is just a danger to the other cars. But from a personal standpoint it is devastating. He is a wonderful man who just announced another Victory Junction Gang Camp will be built in Kansas City. But most importantly, he drives the #45 car which was driven by his son Adam, who was killed in a racing accident before his 20th birthday. He drives it in Adam's honor, so to just kick him out of THAT car is brutal. I am glad I don't have to make that decision. If I were in the front office's shoes, I would remove him. It is a business and you have to look after the other hundreds of people that work there and give them the best shot at a better finish. But Lord, I wouldn't be able to sleep for a month. 20. That leaves DEI with one sponsorship for their 3 car team next year. I think they will be down to 2 cars next year. This is another big blow to DEI. I'll be stunned if DEI lasts past 2012 as a cup team. 23. Kit posted: 09.30.2008 - 8:29 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) DEI is going to be an also-ran in a few years. I'd hate to say it, but it's hard to keep that team afloat when there's no one named Dale Earnhardt associated with it. What Yates needs are sponsors for Kvapil and Gilliand, not an also-ran like Menard who's just racing because he can spend money. They need to support the two good drivers they have now, not add on a driver who hasn't done much at all. He isn't bring much to the table except a sponsor who isn't paying for Kvapil and Gilliand. Baker's a troll, pay no attention to him. Kyle Petty was a good driver back in the early 90s. He even came close to winning a championship in '92. He's not a bad driver at all, but I think after his son passed away, yeah, he's probably lost some competitive fire. I just don't see him racing hard all the way to the corners anymore. If he had raced for someone else besides Petty Enterprises and if his son didn't get killed, he'd probably have 15 to 20 wins by now. It sucks that newer fans just know him as an also-ran now. Kyle Petty actually had fans that followed his driving career in the 90s, not just because of his charitable work. I doubt Red Bull will ever be a fiercely competitive team. 24. Baker posted: 09.30.2008 - 10:15 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) What do you mean "no matter whos winning" NO ONE has been winning since the early 90's because Hendrick and Chevy are in Nascar's back pocket. 25. #20 (soon to be #14) fan but #48 HATER! posted: 10.01.2008 - 8:22 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) hahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha THIS IS THE FUNNIEST **** EVER!!!! You know, like ??The End is Imminent.? 8. Assigning them double duty as the janitorial crew was the last straw. 7. They are realizing that if all the ??real? Earnhardts left, something must be up. 6. Two letters: T. E. 5. They decided that with all the recent talk of a ??bailout,? the time was ripe. 4. The Army is already under enough pressure to pull out, so they thought they??d practice with DEI. Baby steps! 3. DEI recently hired Billy Mays to sell the team to potential sponsors ?? ??But wait! We??ll give you another car and driver for a one time payment of $19 million!? 2. They want to win, or at least have a chance to win. 1. They can ??save big money at Yates? and there is no mail-in rebate! 26.
