Oh wait. 2. DaleSrFanForever posted: 11.09.2008 - 9:43 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) What the hell did Paul Menard think he was doing? He had no right to bump Jeff Burton under caution like that. Jeff got a little rough with him because he was two laps down racing the leaders like it was for position. Paul Menard has contributed nothing to NASCAR. He is only there because his daddy is a billionaire willing to spend $15 million on him to run 28th every week and be in everyone's way. He needs to thank his lucky stars John Menard is his father because otherwise he wouldn't be anywhere in NASCAR because he sucks. He couldn't hold Jeff Burton's driving gloves. 3. Pretty blatant payback by Matt Kenseth on AJ Allmendinger coming to the checkers. 4. Bronco posted: 11.09.2008 - 10:08 pm Rate this comment: (0) (1) - AJ outperforms Sadler for the fourth week in a row. - Gordon has a rare engine failure, his first in over two years. - Kenseth acts like an idiot and flat out wrecks AJ and many others - Ambrose has his best oval finish of the season despite having a damaged car putting him in the top 35. :) - Stupid Hornish takes out another car, I bet all the other drivers are disappointed to hear that he's staying next year. He needs to be fired ASAP and replaced by AJ or someone - Gilliland somehow ended up on the hood of the 84 in that crazy crash - McMurray has done really well in these last few races, he's a darkhorse for the 2009 chase for sure. 5. 18fan posted: 11.09.2008 - 10:16 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) My first NASCAR race besides local racing. Jimmie was fast, Kurt finally had a good run, Kyle struggled but finished 8th, Juan Pablo caused a major crash. I sat in the Turn 2 Grandstand and didn't see the last lap crash after the finish, could someone explain what happened. Everyone who led just checked out. 6. Ill tell you unless Johnson were to blow up or wreck on lap 1 the championchip fight is over and Johnson becomes the first driver to win 3 races in Phoenix. A great run for McMurray who I think had one of the only cars who could somewhat run with Johnson. Also Marcos Ambrose is really showing somthing, even salvaging a top 20 after being caught up in that wreck started by whoelse but Montoya. Also Allmendinger still showing Red Bull they made a horrible mistake. Hey Brian France, bring back the old pts format, its working for the Busch and Trucks, and it would be working for Cup. Anyway enough of my rant, a good Phoenix race, cant wait till April now....or at least NHRA in Feburary. 7. It looked like he just veered left into AJ. I understand he was upset with Allmendinger for spinning him out earlier, but AJ even apologized over the radio for getting loose and causing it. It was a racing incident. Hopefully Matt has a better season next year and AJ gets a decent ride. Is it just me, or has the ABC/ESPN coverage improved drastically from 2007? I say this despite the prioritizing of AFHV over the race, which was an ABC Entertainment programming decision, and not an ABC Sports programming decision. 8. Again one of the most boring races I have ever seen. Hopefully when more teams figure out this COT then the field will be on a level playing field or Nascar needs to change something to help this out. I am getting way too much sleep on Sunday's now. 9. DaleSrFanForever posted: 11.11.2008 - 12:42 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) I'm a Matt Kenseth fan, but even I was disappointed in what he did to AJ. AJ made a mistake and apologized for it. I've been extremely impressed by his progress this year, I bet GEM wishes they would have hired him instead of Reed. I think that is the frustration of a difficult season for Matt. Luckily he has a pretty good track record of keeping his cool, but it was disappointing to see him tear up someone's car like that. ESPN's coverage has improved from last year, but it is still pretty bad. Moving DJ to the booth was a good idea, but they have to get Jerry Punch out of there and put Alan Bestwick in. I have a lot of respect for all the years Jerry has covered NASCAR, but he is SOOOO boring. Alan is much more exciting. I remember his call when Elliott Sadler flipped at Talladega on the backstretch. He would do much better. 12. Dodge posted: 11.11.2008 - 4:07 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) I would rather them get Rusty back up there and have Andy, Jerry and Rusty. Don't get me wrong, I like Allen but they gotta reassign Dale. Atleast Rusty didn't mainly focus on RWI. Dale appears to me that he is only really paying attention to Reutimann and the other Toyota teams. 13. I'm starting to think he should retire soon if he wants his legacy to be a favorable one. 14. Bronco posted: 11.12.2008 - 12:42 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) This could possibly be Kyle's last ride with Petty Enterprises, although I'm hoping not. I would like to see him in a few races next year, at least the Daytona 500. The good thing is his sponsor is committed to him. Also after over 20 years and quite a bit of success, Texaco/Havoline pulls out of NA$CAR. Joe I wouldn't be surprised to see the big news of 2009 being Gordon announcing 2010 as his last season. All the good fortune he used to have seems to have evaporated, he's having the same problems as everyone else. Also I think Kenseth will switch teams next year, he seems very unhappy watching Carl win every week. 15. Mark O. posted: 11.12.2008 - 5:32 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Mark Martin and Dale Earnhardt had winless seasons too. I don't think anyone questions their legacies. As for ESPN...Jerry needs to get back to pit road. He has far more insight there than he does in the booth. I think they should throw a couple of old timers up there for a couple of races. 16. Pork Rind posted: 11.12.2008 - 9:35 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) I heard Buddy Baker recently on Sirius satellite radio on a Nascar show. I thought he was a good announcer. Why not have him do some races? Maybe they think he's too old. I remember listening to him on the scanner at races he covered, and he was just as good during commercials as he was live on air. 17. DaleSrFanForever posted: 11.12.2008 - 9:48 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) DEI and Ganassi merged for next year. Sounds like the blind leading the blind to me. I understand how it helps them from a sponsorship standpoint, but I don't see what else they can really get from each other. They both have huge shops with all the latest technology and can't do jack s*** with it. Poor Martin Truex. I bet 2010 can't get here soon enough for him. I heard a rumor that JGR would buy him out of his contract and let him drive the #20 car next year since Logano obviously needs more seasoning. I was hoping so hard that would be true, but I kinda knew it wouldn't happen. Shame though. 18. I'm not a Gordon fan, so this definitely isn't wishful thinking, but I think he'll get back on track. You know that has to be a HUGE priority for Rick Hendrick and HMS. Jimmie may have 3 straight championships, but Jeff is still the face of their organization. You know they want him to do well again. If you look at his year this year, it isn't THAT bad. Sure he hasn't won, but not many people have this year. Jimmie, Carl, and Kyle have won 23 races this year just among themselves. That doesn't leave much for everyone else. And like Mark O said, everyone has down years. Don't worry about his legacy, its set. Look at Darrell and the King, their last DECADE in Cup was pathetic, but they are still legends. I agree he'll retire in 3 or 4 more years at most, but I think he'll have 90 wins by then. 20. Kit posted: 11.13.2008 - 3:55 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Under the old points system, Jeff Gordon would have won the championship last year. I think he's just having a bad year; it happens. It's like Dale Sr.'s '92 season. Ganassi does not belong in the same sentence as Earnhardt. 21. Of course, they do share information at their shop, but on the racetrack they treat each other as competitors. From what I can tell, it doesn't matter which of his drivers wins. A win is a win. 28. Obviously best known for their partnership with Davey Allison, they were an iconic NASCAR sponsor and paint scheme no matter what team or driver they were with. I always loved saying that red and black paint job with the big Texaco star on the hood out on the race track. It just look Tracy. 36.
