That was AJ laughing at Scott Slow who is now officially out of the top 35. TRB must be so proud. I say congrats AJ for not only finishing on the lead lap but also getting yourself in the top 35. I was sad to hear that this is probably Travis Kvapil's last ride in the 28 car. He did such a solid job last year and now they just give him the boot, just like that. I hope someone steps up and sponsors him in time for Martinsville, or that he finds a competitve Truck ride and continues to kick butt. A great run for Marcos Ambrose, his first oval top ten. Probably would have been a top 5 but he dropped a cylinder. The Reut also finished well. 2. Mark Martin and Ryan Newman finally get good runs and thus manage to stay out of the "danger zone" Atta boy to the amazing Aussie!!!Top 10 with a dropped cylinder. If Ambrose were running for ROTY he'd be ahead of Moldy Bread(who blew up)and Scott Slow(who finshed last car on the lead lap). Unless they get a sponser for Martinsville, this could be the last race for the #28 of Yates Racing.A real shame considering what Travis Kvapil did last year to keep that team in the top35 only to have his points given to Paul Menard. 3. Bronco posted: 03.22.2009 - 8:21 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) New14&88Fan, the race was actually 503 laps due to a GWC, so Scott Slow wasn't even the last car on the lead lap. Instead it was the Dinger who brought it home last car on the lead lap, beating two of his teammates. I too agree that Ambrose would have run away with ROTY if he didn't run so many races last year. This would have been the third race of the year where he was the best rookie, other two being Daytona and California. I hope we see a lot more out of him throughout the season. Also congrats to Newman and Martin for finally having a solid top 10 race. 4. Willy on Wheels posted: 03.22.2009 - 8:23 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) FINALLY!!!!! That means they are 2nd in winning races in a row. Kyle is now 1 race away from tying Jeff Gordon's record of wins before turning 25 years old. Marcos Ambrose was better than his 10 place finish today if it wasn't for him being down a cylinder. It is shame Marcos can't be a rookie this year. He would've run away with rookie of the year award easily. Good run for A.J Allmendinger. It is a shame that Penske didn't replace Sam Hornish Jr. with A.J Allmendinger. Red Bull has to be regretting having Scott Speed replacing Allmendinger now. This is the last race for Travis Kvapil for Yates racing since the 28 team will not be racing till a sponsor is found. 6. 18fan posted: 03.22.2009 - 9:29 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Kyle's time winning at a track twice. Good run for Newman, and Jimmie Johnson's best race at Bristol. Apparent start-and-parks #09-Sterling Marlin: 91 laps; steering #87-Joe Nemechek: 82 laps; rear end #66-Dave Blaney: 33 laps; steering Also, Mayfield and Riggs missed their third race in a row. Paul Menard is outside the top 35, as are Scott Slow and Aric Almirola. Menard is a bad driver who only got the #28 car's points because his billionaire daddy sponsors him. Good job by David Gilliland getting that car in the top 35 for now. AJ Allmendinger is doing a great job in a car that he ran well in the last five races last year. 7. Good to see Mark Martin have a great Top 10 finish. How about Marcos Ambrose with a Top 10 finish too! He had a Top 5 car though. Kyle Busch is going to do a lot of what he did last year....WIN. Such a great car for him today. 8. Eric posted: 03.22.2009 - 9:49 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) I forgot to mention that Clint Bowyer still proves how bad Casey Mears is with his old team. I am not Kyle Busch, but I brought the stats of wins by a certain age because Jayski has been keeping track of that stat. The Media has been mentioning the record of a brothers winning Nascar races in a race and they brought up the Busch brothers today after the race. 9. Joe Nemechek's fourth straight race that he qualified for, and he's had four different reasons for his DNFs, lol. At least these field fillers aren't parking their cars after two laps, but it sucks that guys like Mayfield and Riggs who are committed to running the entire race couldnt make the show. 10. Then NASCAR only warns him, if that contact wasn't intentional then I don't know what is. Montoya shouldn't have gotten that 9th place finish he should be 5 laps down for driving like a moron. Too bad for Kvapil, he got a top 20 today. Something his no-talent teammate hasn't been able to manage in a full funded car thanks to daddy. 11. Congrats to the Dinger for qualifying for all of the first 5 races with a new team and solidly getting his car in the Top 35. He and his team have done one hell of a job. And yeah, it is pretty funny that Scott Speed is out of the Top 35. He should probably spend less time shopping for clothes and more time learning about NASCAR and stock cars. Casey Mears continues to prove his doubters right. What do the crew members on the #07 team have to be thinking now? They have got to be furious to get such a downgrade in talent. And I agree with you guys, a huge shame about Travis Kvapil and the #28 team. He deserves a ride much more than Rich Boy who took his points cause his Daddy paid $15 million for them. By the way, his 2009 20th or Worse count now stands at 5. 12. That means he ends up tied with Lee Petty for the most wins at different tracks to start a career with 13. Kyle is also one win away from tying Jeff Gordon's record for most wins before the age of 25; Jeff-15, Kyle-14 Kyle has until May 2, 2010 to break the record. Blaney spun out and then they reported he went to the garage to "repair the damage". He barely got tapped, didn't hit the wall or anybody, and parked because of "steering". The only race Prism Motorsports will finish this season is the Daytona 500 because Terry Labonte doesn't park. Phoenix Motorsports might finish races with Brad Keselowski, but not with Mike Bliss or Sterling Marlin. Joe Nemechek won't finish any races. It's hard to tell about the 64 team, but I think they are trying to run full races because they blew an engine at Las Vegas after 212 laps(more than start-and-parkers normally run and engine is not a typical start-and-park reason)and got wrecked early in this race. I am interested in start-and-parks and if NASCAR will take a closer look to make these teams try to finish more races 18. If Brad starts and parks in that car, it'll lower his "sponsor selling value" Hendrick would be better off giving that team some money and support than letting Brad start and park 26. Not really. The way I see it Kyle was never getting the same quality of equipment as the 24 and 48 teams. So if he was still driving the 5 car now, I doubt he would have racked up as many wins as he has while driving the 18. Honestly Kyle should be eternally grateful to Dale Jr for taking his spot. With his new team Kyle is having way more success than he would have had if he stayed in the 5 car. This is all speculation, of course. And the bottom line is Dale Jr is a money machine. And as we all know, sadly that's what race teams are ultimately about. 28. Kit posted: 03.25.2009 - 7:32 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) I agree with Bronco. Anonymous posted: 03.25.2009 - 10:47 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) I agree with Bronco. Kyle wouldn't fit with most cup teams because of personality. He wouldn't have been a good fit at Roush either. Gibbs is better at handling people like Kyle. Gibbs already was prepared for Kyle Busch since he already had to deal with Stewart and Hamlin. Hendrick really didn't handle a driver quite like Kyle Busch before. The problem lays in the fact Jeff Gordon was the youngest driver Rick had before Kyle. The catch is Jeff was more mature than Kyle. From a personality standpoint, Tim Richmond was the wildest driver he ever had and was the biggest challenge Rick had to deal with before Kyle. Rick compared Kyle to Tim Richmond in talent once even. That is all they had in common. Tim Richmond was way different than Kyle though. Tim had a rockstar type lifestyle and was on the wild side. There even were rumors about him taking illegal drugs even. Dale Jr. was a better fit at Hendrick than Kyle. Dale Jr. is well known as a party animal. Rick had no problems handling people like Dale Jr. because he had Tim Richmond as a driver. Rick also known Dale Jr. for several years since he knew Jr.'s Dad for a long time. 30. It was hosted live on SPEED channel with former broadcaster Ned Jarrett helping broadcast. It was a 35 lap shootout with Sterling Marlin winning the outside pole after his celebrety driver( Andy Petree) won his celebrety heat race. Sterling dominated leading all 35 laps and winning the inaugural Scotts Saturday Night Special at Bristol.Harry Gant spent most of the race without his hood because the pins fell off and they took the hood off under a caution. Blaney had an outstanding start to the weekend when he qualified 8th for the Bristol event, giving his Phil Parsons-owned team its first top-10 start in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. When the green flag fell on Sunday, Blaney fought to keep up with the leaders. When John Andretti's spin brought out the first caution on lap 27, Blaney moved up to 2nd by staying out behind Jimmie Johnson while many others pitted. On the lap 33 restart, Blaney was keeping up with Johnson when Andretti's lapped car broke loose in turn four, knocking him into a spin. Blaney's car did not hit the wall, but sat in the middle of the groove as the rest of the field managed to get by. As the yellow flag flew, Blaney's car went straight behind the wall, having suffered a steering failure in the mishap. The race was Blaney's first last-place finish in nearly a year, dating back to his engine failure in last spring's Goody's Cool Orange 500 at Martinsville. It was the first last-place finish for Prism Motorsports, one of several startup teams founded just before the 2009 Daytona 500. However, the race also marked the second time in just 9 races where a #66 car finished last: Scott Riggs finished 43rd in last fall's Pep Boys Auto 500 at Atlanta while driving for HAAS-CNC. It was also the first time a driver finished last because of a steering failure since Ricky Craven's #50 Midwest Transit Chevrolet finished last in the 1999 Pepsi 400 at Daytona. 2009 RANKINGS 1st) Dave Blaney, Mike Bliss, Matt Kenseth, Joey Logano, Joe Nemechek (1) Visit http://brockbeard.blogspot.com/ for more. 42.
