Traffic caused a problem for the second week in a row. It seems the traffic has been worse this year than before. 2. I don't think sponsorship is going to be an issue for him, and if it is, boot out Sorenson and take his sponsors. And meanwhile Moldy Bread and Mears continue to suck in their high profile rides. I also think Ragan can probably forget about making the Cha$e this year. And I was glad to see Dale Jr move up some more in the points, although he badly needs a win. Also Menard moved back into the top 35 replacing Gilliland. 3. Eric posted: 03.29.2009 - 8:56 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) It good the longest green flag racing here for a while. It was the fastest race here since the fall race of 2003. I was a bit suprised that Johnson and Hamlin didn't wreck. Good runs by Newman,Martin,Allmendinger, McMurray, Ambrose and Bobby Labonte. Jr. had his best run of the year despite fading a little after middle of the race with him getting up to 4th or 5th place at one point. Scott Speed led his first 12 lap of the years. Outside of that, he a topical rookie showing at Martinsville like Lagano did today. Rookie usually don't run good here. I hope Allmendinger don't take the US formula 1 ride. He continues to be the 2nd best driver out of Richard Petty Motorsports and is doing very well and is making Red Bull Racing look like fools. Ambrose continued to impress me in the cup series this year. I felt he would've won the 2009 rookie of the year easily if he didn't race as much in cup last year. This is one of the place that testing would've helped rookie cup drivers out. 4. kirkyal posted: 03.29.2009 - 9:04 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Great run for AJ! Thought the race was pretty good... Robby Gordon spent most of the race either spinning or hitting the wall! 5. John C posted: 03.29.2009 - 9:34 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) That caution for that beer can was completely unnecessary 6. That move Jimmie pulled was just hard short track racing but had one of them wrecked it would have been a different story. I really thought Gordon would have won before the race started but that team has lost something at Martinsville. Good enough for a Top 5 but not a win. I am so impressed with Marcos Ambrose. He had a great 14th place finish and I'm glad to see Michael Waltrip had a good run too. Overall I was very happy with this race. A very exciting race to me. 7. He was there to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Hendrick's first win. Seeing the world premiere of Trace Adkins new video. I'm not a huge country music fan, but that song and video are hilarious. After talking about Aric Almirola's Guitar Hero Metallica car, they played "Seek And Destroy" over the loud speakers. Never thought I'd hear that at a NASCAR race, but it was awesome. And most importantly: NO RAIN!!! It was a beautiful day. 8. Bowyer was outstanding all day, always in the Top 5. He was pushed to the start up team to make way for the legendary Casey Mears, and he has been far and away the class of RCR. And what does Red Bull have to be thinking right now? Dinger is doing great while Scott Speed can't get out of the way. I know he got wrecked today, but he has just looked lost all year. Lots of tire problems, the damn #8 car had a flat tire every 20 laps it seemed like. I don't think they anticipated such long runs, but it was nice to only have 66 caution laps. Normally that is around or above 100. 9. Rusty posted: 03.29.2009 - 11:16 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Great to see the 2 team is back in form. Winning races is overrated, glad that's behind us now. 10. JJ pretty much put a "no guts no glory" move on Denny Hamlin, they easily could of taken each other out.How Denny handled it though is what impressed me,he didn't whine or complain,he just chalked it up to short track racing. AJ Allmendinger continues to prove the geniuses at TRB to be complete idiots. It's great that RPM found him sponsership for five extra races, but he definitely deserves a full year ride.I just hope he says no to going to the USA F1 team. 11. Seriously I find these start'n'parkers actually very funny. Like to see what problems they have had with their "rear" every weekend. I rooted for Hamlin in the end, but obviously better car won. Nice to see Stewart-Haas cars in top-10. 12. willy on wheels posted: 03.30.2009 - 8:12 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) About the field fillers, their "issues" in each of the races were: Daytona: No parkers. Great finish for Stewart and Newman. 14. Ryan posted: 03.30.2009 - 5:53 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) I agree about Dinger, I hope he finds more sponsors because I have him in a keeper fantasy league. And I knew last year that him getting kicked out by Red Bull was stupid. With results like this he has to get some sponsors somewhere. I'm tired of people saying the guy behind the leader hit the leader out of the way. JJ already had position underneath Hamlin and Hamlin came down on him. JJ even hit some of the curb too so that he wouldn't hit Hamlin. That's why Hamlin didn't say much about it and he didn't care. He knows he about messed it up for both of them. 16. What I find funny is the fact that Jimmie wont admit he bumped him for the win. He's got to protect that squeaky clean image of his at all costs. 18. dUDE gUY posted: 04.01.2009 - 11:54 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) I'm a Jimmie fan, and I'm glad to see him win his fifth win in the last six races, but I can't help but feel bad for Hamlin. He's had several races over the last few years where he's been in a position to win and somehow ends up losing it. 19. Pretty damned good race indeed. 1st race that I've actually had to wear earplugs during the race. My good buddy got us the cheapie $25 seats, which I loved bigtime. We were 5 rows from the track. It's so awesome to be able to see the drivers, gear shifters, etc. while the drivers are under caution. Not that I prefer caution flags. Quite the contrary actually. And being a Tony fan, a then new best for his new team. Alas, the only thing I didn't see was Jimmie actually taking the lead from Denny. I was looking past the start/finish line and it happened off of turn 4. I had to ask my buddy if it was the good ole bump n run. He said yep. It really wasn't, but surely would have been a Tony win had those 2 cats crashed in front of him. I surely need to take in another Martinsville race again. Even had me one of those famous Martinsville Speedway Hot Dogs. :) 24. Las Vegas-Sun. LASTCAR posted: 04.23.2013 - 12:03 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Todd Bodine picked up the 16th last-place finish of his career in Sunday's Goody's Fast Pain Relief 500 at Martinsville Speedway when his unsponsored #64 Gunselman Motorsports Toyota lost the engine on lap 3 of the 500-lap race. As a result of Bodine's wreck at Bristol the week before, Gunselman Motorsports was forced to debut another former Bill Davis Racing Toyota at Martinsville. The team struggled with the car through practice, but made the field when qualifying was rained out. Even so, the #64 barely made the show: the team was tied with Phoenix Racing's #09 with two starts, five attempts, and the same number of owner points, but the #64 had better finishes in their two races and Bodine was given the 43rd starting spot. Unfortunately, Bodine was not in the race long as, on lap 3, he pulled behind the wall under green with engine problems. The race was Bodine's first last-place finish in just over four years, dating back to the 2004 Checker Auto Parts 500 at Phoenix. He now ties Derrike Cope with the most last-place finishes since 1998 (13), has collected the 3rd-most in the Modern Era, and the 5th-most all-time. The #64 had not finished last in a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race since Connie Saylor's Sunny King Ford, owned by driving legend Elmo Langley, finished 41st in the 1987 Motorcraft Quality Parts 500 at Atlanta. Like Bodine, Saylor fell out of that race after three laps because of an engine failure. 2009 RANKINGS 1st) Dave Blaney, Mike Bliss, Todd Bodine, Matt Kenseth, Joey Logano, Joe Nemechek (1) Visit http://brockbeard.blogspot.com/ for more. 27. Had he never dropped back like that, he might have led a few hundred laps in this race and been that much closer to reaching a career total of 20,000 laps led. 29.
