The #30 is on the pace for the very first time this year, Jeff is really used to getting blank black cars without owner points in races. He has a tendency to park them though, hopefully that won't happen this time. lol at JJ and Kahne being behind Joey Gase in the #32 shitbox. Go home Kennedy and let Jeb race. 4. dennyfan11 posted: 04.24.2015 - 7:30 pm Rate this comment: (1) (4) Oh My god guys... If qualifying was determined by fastest speed overall, CASEY MEARS would have won the pole! Aric Almirola would have been 4th, Josh Wise 5th, Sam Hornish Jr. 6th, David Gilliland 7th, Cole Whitt 8th, and Greg Biffle 10th! I am surprised that Jeff made it in, considering the talent of the two. Ron Hornaday Jr was still one of the top drivers in trucks until he got fired, while Jeff Green's been struggling with piece of crap equipment since 2002! 5. someone posted: 04.24.2015 - 7:32 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Didn't Landon Cassil have the fastest 10 lap average in the first practice, and seventh in happy hour? It was in McClure's car which is far from good either. 11. Ummmmmmmm he was 25th which means he didn't make it out of round one which means 24 guys were faster..... They take the time based on the round you made it to and the guys in the last round are gonna have slower times because they have like 10 laps on the tires. In the other 28 races that Eric raced the #14, he had an average finish of 25.4. The stats show that Green is only marginally better than Eric...not the huge margin that you insinuated. A couple years ago when Eric got injured at Talladega and Jeff filled in, the results were similar. Green may have won a championship, but it was at a time where the Xfinity series ran a far different schedule and Cup participation was minimal. 24. I can't believe people still make these comments. You think he wants to be start-and-parking, relying on his past champion's provisional to make the field? The guy doesn't have a better ride because nobody is willing to shill out sponsorship for a 53 year-old driver who's well past his prime. It's not due to lack of effort. 27. racefangurl posted: 04.25.2015 - 2:27 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) So basically nobody good wants an old guy, so he can only get junk rides on the strength of his championship? That's ageism. But I admit, his best years are likely behind him. Late 20's to 30's is typically thought of as the peak age of NASCAR drivers. David Ragan is that age. If I was a race team owner and had to choose one, I'd choose David Ragan because he'd likely stick around the scene a few more years than Jeff Green. Speaking of Jeff Green, I bought a Darrell Waltrip book and then a Michael Waltrip book and Mikey's book says Jeff Green was the Waltrip's neighbor. Is Jeff Green a better driver than Mikey? Both won race in the now-Xfinity series, but Mikey never ran in more than 31 races a season in said series, so he never had a real shot at championship. The year he ran in 31/34 of the races he led the points 3 weeks, but missed 3 races after that time. 28. Eric posted: 04.25.2015 - 2:44 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) I disagree on the peek years of a driver in age. Case in point to me is Kevin Harvick. Chase Elliot finishes a respectable 16th place, he ran pretty good but it's not surprising since he has some Nationwide Races under his belt here. The biggest incident in the race was between Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Tony Stewart and Tony Stewart could not get his car going again after spinning out after contact with Earnhardt. Now I don't particularly like or respect Kurt.. but this is unacceptable. It started from before the checkered flew. Mike Joy used the phrase 'suspension to redemption' (which he since clarified on twitter) really rubbed me the wrong way. Joe Moore made a far worse reference on MRN which I listened to driving home from work. He essentially compared his suspension to a medical leave of absence. That's equally pathetic and a sorry attempt of justification for his accused actions. Yes he's been proven innocent. But why are some folks delusionally thinking that nothing ever happened? It didn't just mysteriously wind up in (family) court without any merits. Does everyone working for nascar and a (thankfully small but irrtating) minority suffer from short term memory loss? Or are they truly that quick to forget. From this fans perspective, yes I was glad to see Kurt win. As much as I loathe him, he deserved it. He outright dominated. Since he's returned he's been a class act. But I've seen this charade played out by him before. What I haven't seen is the level of ignorance from his fans when it comes to the simple things such as basic human decency and a seven letter word: RESPECT. Patricia was in Mt. Vernon with her son, enjoying her Sunday sightseeing only to be overwhelmed by hate tweets by these maniacs once Kurt won. I mean trolling doesn't even do some of those tweets justice. Now I'm not trying to be preachy to yall, just simply passing along some intriguing knowledge, some food for thought. And a friendly reminder to the fans here, remember we represent nascar. Our individual actions or opinions may not impact the sport, but a negative representation of it certainly will damage a non-fans view and interpretation of the sport. In fact today at work while listening to the race a co-worker overheard that Kurt was winning and made a comment about if he was the guy who referred to his ex as an assassin or was it his brother. I confirmed it was Kurt and informed him Kyle was currently injured. He laughed and said something like he's totally crazy. I laughed too. See I'm the only employee there who likes nascar, or racing for that matter, and am constantly ridiculed and picked on for my love of it. I take it in stride and in good fun and they constantly comment on how I don't fit any of the stereotypes typically associated with fans. And I know everyone here isn't just a typical fan. But it's actions by fans on twitter today that don't just give them a bad name.. but unfortunately ALL of us. We ALL get lumped in. And yes I know twitter is just a cesspool but it disturbs me that there are so many uneducated half-wits who can slug back a few cold ones and spew off some drivel and ruin somebody's day in 140 characters or less. I just wish all nascar fan realized that they too represent the sport and whether they know it or it or not. 300. But what we like about it from our standpoint is it makes the actual racing event better because there's no lull in between the beginning and the end, or there's a lot smaller lull, so teams have to compete." France said a longer race doesn't necessarily allow drivers time to relax "but they're not as pressed to be up front at a certain time. "But if you shorten it, they will, and we've seen that when we do shorten it," he said. "We tend to get better (quality of races), and we measure that by lead changes and how close the winning margins (are) and a lot of different metrics that we use. So we've got a pretty good handle on that, and ... a 400-mile race will give us, most of the time, a better racing competition, and that's in addition to the time spans and attention spans of millennial fans; those two go together for us to shorten it up somehow." France didn't rule out dropping the length of a race below 400 miles, but noted that any such decisions would "also depend on if there are any format changes that we'd be willing to consider, that we look at all the time, that we historically haven't done."(NASCAR.com)(4-28-2015) Oh no! -- the punkies are tuning out because races are so long and boring! We better make some radical changes then! You want "better racing competition"? Here are some "radical changes": In the Xfinity series, ban or severely limit the Cup drivers. Simply stopping them from earning points is a miserable failure and has had no impact at all aside from NASCAR being able to give the (false) impression that it was taking decisive action regarding the problem. And in the Cup series, stop manufacturing outcomes with bogus "debris" cautions and (in all series) throwing a panic caution flag for any excuse, including drivers NOT actually hitting a wall, spinning and hitting nothing, water bottle on track, etc. 310. The good news for Toyota is they've already matched their 2014 win total, so there's nowhere to go but up on that stat. The bad news is they've had races this season where they didn't even place a driver in the top 10. Obviously, having Kyle Busch and Brian Vickers out of the line-up isn't helping. Looks like Chevy will curb-stomp everyone in the manufacturer's point this year. They're the only one with any depth to their roster. Ford is pretty much depending on the two Penske drivers to carry the load, and while they've been impressive, they can't do it all by themselves. 311. 1995 Subaru WRX STi posted: 04.28.2015 - 12:20 pm Rate this comment: (3) (0) Post #299 You are correct on everything. (schroder will agree with me) R-E-S-P-E-C-T is something fans have forgotten. Now i know some do things after races like congratulating drivers on social media after a race. That is great but it does not happen enough. It needs happen more often, including the sport itself. In reguards too short races. I have called for that on here in the past. 400 miles is a nice round number. Keep the big races the same (Brickyard, the 600, Daytona 500, Southern 500, Bristol Night race, Fall Dega race) the same. OH and i guess people have forgotten about ACS going too 400 miles, Pocono too 400 miles and Dover going too 400 miles. Does anyone remember that? Now back too my self imposed ban. 312. dennyfan11 posted: 04.28.2015 - 3:38 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) "Looks like Chevy will curb-stomp everyone in the manufacturer's point this year. I don't expect Danica to return next year if GoDaddy leaves, barring some sort of incredible improvement over the remainder of the season. 318. ch posted: 04.29.2015 - 12:28 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) I'm calling Regan Smith to the #10 for 2016/2017 while Cole Custer drives the #7 (changed to the #00) in the NXS. It is very easy for her to get a sponsor due to her great marketing appeal. Remember folks Michael Waltrip had sponsors for years despite his performance. Sponsors don't care about performance, but care about marketability instead. Danica Patrick is going to have Victoria Secrets as a Sponsor with her being a great spokesperson and model for them. 320. It doesn't mean for certain that Danica won't be in the 10 next year, Stewart-Haas will shop around for replacement sponsors before they make that decision. I don't expect a new sponsor to jump in at the same level GoDaddy was funding her, but they may be able to put together a package of smaller deals. If that can't be worked out, then Regan Smith will be an option, or one of the other drivers with contracts expiring, or cutting back to 3 full time teams. Going to be interesting... 321. Any so-called "fan" whose sole interest in a driver is their sex appeal is QUITE the shallow individual...I certainly don't DOUBT there are many fans of hers who only like her because of that, but it certainly can't be all of them... Well, this is certainly some interesting news. I kind of doubt this means the end of her in NASCAR though; I find it difficult to believe that SOME company out there wouldn't decide to sponsor her based on her marketability...Regardless, it will be interesting to see what happens and whether or not she'll be back in the #10 next year. 322. dennyfan11 posted: 04.29.2015 - 3:28 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) What a big bombshell annoucement! No, he won't be racing at Indy, but he will be driving the Chevy Corvette Z06 pace car at this year's Indianapolis 500, before heading off to race the Coke 600 at Charlotte. What would really be exciting is if Gordon were to run the Indy 500 in 2016, once he's retired from NASCAR! How cool would that be?? Eric posted: 04.29.2015 - 6:55 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) I am not that excited if Jeff Gordon is going to driver the Indy 500 in 2016 and I wouldn't even advise it. This might be shocking coming from me since I started to follow Indycars back in the 1980's. My reasoning is 3 things. 1.) Indycars are not as safe as Stock Cars are and Drivers still get in Indycar to this day. This is an issue to me because of Jeff's back. I still remember drivers missing races in Indycar due to how bad the crash affected their back. 2.) Jeff's rather old for getting his first ever start in the Indy 500 if he does in 2016. This would be different than drivers like Mario Andretti racing the Indy 500 in their 40's or 50's due to the fact Jeff isn't a veteran Indycar Driver. 3.) Jeff hasn't been in open wheel racing vehicles a lot since he left USAC for NASCAR after 1990. I remember Jeff being in Montoya's F1 car for IMS making times with Montoya racing Jeff's NASCAR car back in 2003, but I think that is the last time Jeff been in an open wheel vehicle. This is an issue to me rust and age. 326. BMan0213 posted: 04.29.2015 - 8:06 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Well I'm not surprised to see Go Daddy leave. Personally while I Danica will find sponsors and have a ride next year I don't think she'll be at SHR. I've been saying this for a few months now and i'm gonna stick to it. Denny Hamlin is gonna end up in that car next year. I feel Gibbs wanting to put Jones in the 18 after this week is a move to get him ready for Cup next year. If he is really ready for Cup is a completely different conversation. Looking at Gibbs current Cup line up we know Carl and Kyle aren't going anywhere having just signed new deals. Kenseth is there through at least 2016 and if you listen to him he sounds like he's gonna be there even longer. Then there's Denny who's in a contract year and to my knowledge hasn't even engaged in discussion to extend his contract at Gibbs. I know the whole story about Denny and how he was a Redskins fan and when he was a kid he met Joe and said he would win him a title, but at the end of the day this sport is a business. Fact is since 2013 Kenseth has been far better than Hamlin. One of those two are gonna have to go soon in order for them not to loose Jones and as long as Kenseth isn't gonna retire after next season (which based on recent comments he made he's not even close to thinking about that) Hamlin is the guy who will be out. Now back to Danica I think she'll end up at either MWR or RFR. Danica seems to have a pretty good relationship with Michael and depending on what happens I could see her in the 55 or if she brings in enough money (which I think is likely) in a third MWR car. RFR is a little different. While it is possible for Biffle to just decide to call it quits after this season I find it much more likely that she replaces Stenhouse in the 17, which would probably make their relationship well complicated lol. 327. It would be easier to list where she's not going. Not Hendrick or Gibbs, they have no place to put her. Not Petty, The King has already made his opinion of her public. Not BK or one of the other teams with no money, because Danica isn't going to drive without getting paid.
