There are five SpongeBob paint schemes in this race: David Ragan has SpongeBob on his car, Greg Biffle has Patrick, Casey Mears has Squidward, Michael McDowell has Larry the Lobster, and Ty Dillon has the evil Plankton on his car. ...I think they missed an opportunity by not having a Mr. Krabs scheme on Paul Menard's car. It would be an excellent fit (other than the fact that I don't think Menard is excessively greedy despite being very wealthy...) 3. Although, while Furniture Row is easily a top team now, we have reached the point where it is mildly surprising to see a Roush car in the top 10. Good job Biffle, I guess? Leavine's shop has been damaged in a fire earlier this week and they need a good run and a healthy paycheck. With good speed throughout practice and a 31st starting spot it does look all well in terms of performance. Hopefully thy can get a good finish too. Jeb Burton finally gets in a race again, outqualifying both Yeley and DiBenedetto, whom both are in a quite good streak. Poor Annett has probably the worst luck out of the field this year. Even though he made the race on owner points, they had engine woes once again. Not going to say anything about Jones. Others will say enough ;) 6. What? People like Sandy. What's this sponsorship for? The home release of the "SpongeBob: Sponge Out of Water" movie? 8. someone posted: 05.08.2015 - 8:39 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) when was the last race where there were certain cars with themed paint jobs? Obviously you mean 2003; heaven only knows if NASCAR will still be around in 2093! Actually, it was in '01 and '02 that they ran the Looney Tunes schemes at Richmond. I remember Jeff Gordon drove the Bugs Bunny car both years...I actually have a diecast of the car he was supposed to run in the '02 race, but it never actually ran because he totaled that car in a practice crash and the backup car only had the regular Dupont paint scheme. 12. Not the most implausible theory; I kind of expect Menard to be out of a ride next year with Cowboy Hat Jr. moving up to Cup full-time next year (unless Childress is planning to become a four-car team). Could be possible he takes over the #10 next year if Danica doesn't come back next year...though as I said before, I REALLY doubt some other team wouldn't scoop her up if she didn't get resigned at SHR. 21. After the first movie (2004) most of the original team of writers all got offers to move onto other projects and left. The revolving door of replacement writers never had the same passion and the show declined markedly in quality afterwords. 23. murb posted: 05.08.2015 - 10:04 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) "Part of me really hopes Kyle will take it slow and not come back for a few more weeks just so we can get a bigger sample size from Erik but I don't think that's gonna happen." There was a rumor going around earlier this week that he was gonna come back here at Kansas (apparently he's been testing late models or something), so it seems like he should be back relatively soon. If I had to guess, it'll probably be around Pocono/Michigan. But yes, incredible job by Jones. Hopefully he'll get more Cup races even after Kyle comes back. "Since Danica is sponsorless as of now what's the odds that Paul Menard takes his billions over to stewart hass racing and buys the #10 ride next year?" Don't see it. Danica might leave the #10 (I honestly won't be shocked if she ends up at MWR in either the #55 or a revamped third car), but I doubt Menard will leave RCR anytime soon (he's signed at least through 2016, and he's also running well enough to where I doubt he would consider changing - granted, SHR is better than RCR, but still, I highly doubt it). If Danica does leave the #10, I'm almost positive that SHR will just shut that team down and only run a three car deal (or maybe just run the #10 part time with Cole Custer or something, since he'll be 18 next year). Tony has made it very well known that they weren't expecting to expand to four teams as fast as they did, so if Danica leaves, I think it would be in their best interest to just focus on getting three teams all headed in the same direction instead of having four all over the map. 24. Greg Biffle and Patrick Star claimed the top honors by finishing 12th while Casey Mears and Squidward were second best in 19th place. It's just irritating to see that some fans conflate the actual on-track racing product with their views on whoever won the race. This is partly why NASCAR gets itself in trouble. You get idiotic fans running to social media saying tonight was the worst race they've ever seen after what was objectively a competitive race, so NASCAR takes it at face value and tries to fix things that aren't broken. And then of course you have vice versa which is just as bad. NASCAR fans whine every single week about wanting better, closer, more competitive racing. And for once, on a mile and a half, the race actually delivered. But many vocal fans still complain. Which causes NASCAR to go knee jerk, and the cycle continues. NASCAR can never win and thus is always caught in an unfairly bad PR loop. Oftentimes they deserve it, but they didn't tonight. This is an extreme example, but this should at least give you an idea as to why I feel the way I do. 368. Hard for me to speak, I don't nearly have any credentials, but being a Jeff Burton fan, 2012 was BY FAR his worst year ever, with Blickensderfer on the box. He left, Lambert came in and 2013 was a significantly better year for Burton. I hope it goes the same way for Hornish now that the change took place 396. Those two are killing NASCAR. The more they win, the less exciting the races get. These two need to start their own team and struggle, just like DW struggle with his own team. That should help NASCAR, drivers, and fans if those two struggle. 403. No point in requiring all races to be run if they're going to grant everyone exceptions. If he wins a single race, is 30th in points after 26 races, and makes the Chase, that will probably be the biggest joke in the history of NASCAR. 423.
