How much money does he actually bring to Joe Falk's team...? 7. racefangurl posted: 05.21.2015 - 10:08 pm Rate this comment: (0) (1) Is RPM comparable to Roush? Some of the Roushskateers qualified near the RPM guys. Michael McDowell was also in that area. And Chase is in with the previously mentioned Roushskaeers, in terms of where he qualified. He has an excuse, though as a rookie. At least, all the Roush drivers beat Front Row. I bet once Ricky's contract runs out, he'll be replaced by Buescher or Bubba. I could see once Biffle retires a Buescher-Bubba-Reed-? scenario at Roush. Buescher and Bubba replace Stenhouse and Biffle, Reed's sponsorship allows a 4th car and the 6 is a mystery. It could be the same as now, but if MS meant that couldn't be the case, who knows who would be in that car? It could be Sadler or else another driver that had joined the team at some point. 8. epzik8 posted: 05.21.2015 - 10:20 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) The scheduling of practices and qualifying around Indy Lights messed me up. Not sure why his Roush teammates haven't caught up, but after All-Star weekend and now 600 qualifying, Biffle seems like a real contender for victory, perhaps? Joe Gibbs teammates Matt Kenseth, Carl Edwards and Denny Hamlin line up 1-3-5, the inside lane for the race. With Biffle and the Penske duo of Keselowski and Logano lining up 2-4-6, the grid has a Toyota-Ford look. Kevin Harvick is the first Chevy in eighth. David Ragan was very fast in all three rounds of qualifying in only his second race in the 55 car, and ended up grabbing the seventh spot on the starting grid. All four Hendrick cars missed out on the final round of qualifying. Jimmie Johnson qualified highest at 13th, and is followed by teammates Dale Earnhardt Jr. in 15th, Jeff Gordon in 18th and Kasey Kahne in 33rd, although Kahne never really got set a proper fast lap in qualifying due to a flat left rear tire. One guy I will (once again) be rooting for is Ryan Blaney, driving the No. 21 Wood Brothers Ford. Blaney posted a solid qualifying lap that put him 16th on the starting grid. 15. There's certainly a very good chance. However, word is that Ryan Blaney may get a full-time Cup ride next year for Penske, so in that case I anticipate those two battling hard for the award. Also don't rule out Chris Buescher, who I expect to be running full-time for Roush. 37. racefangurl posted: 05.23.2015 - 12:40 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Hendrick and Penske are better than Roush at this point, but Roush may be hitting on something. The Long Shot posted: 05.23.2015 - 4:28 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) "There's no "primed" talent, and the odds of anyone beyond those 'first five' making it to Cup is terribly slim." I hope you're joking, but I sense you're not... Reddick, Chastain, Suarez, Rhodes, Gaulding, and B. Jones all have great chances at getting to Cup. Suarez and Gaulding have the requisite funding, Rhodes has the talent and the backing of none other than Dale Jr. himself, and the other three are running well enough with their opportunities that they stand a good chance of catching at least some sort of Cup opportunity. As for the others joey2448 mentioned: Sieg will get into Cup at some point once the family team decides to make the jump up, even if it doesn't happen for a few more years. Matt Tifft is an interesting case; he doesn't have much funding on his side, but his results have been so good that it wouldn't be too shocking to see someone take a shot at him. Same with Hemric. Boston could make it, but it would likely be due to sponsorship alone; his results haven't really blown me away this year. Cale Conley is a high-upside guy, but his signing with Tri-Star makes me nervous about whether he'll ever get his shot. Sargeant, Weatherman, Behar, and Byron haven't been around long enough to make accurate predictions, but all have shown enough promise to be excited about the potential they bring to the table. Johanna Long is the only one who I don't think has any sort of shot at being in Cup; after being released by the Affarano team this past week, I think her opportunity has come and gone. To add some more names to the list: Cole Custer, Brian Scott, Austin Hill, Cameron Hayley, Ryan Reed, Kyle Benjamin, Scott Heckert. "Bone dry" talent pool? I strongly disagree. 47. They just need to work out all the kinks with that team. That, and the fact that he seems to take it a little TOO hard when he doesn't win in that series...to the point where it has occasionally affected his performance in the Cup races the next day. 336. True but 1998 was a different time i don't think the sponsors have the power they do now. If this were to happen id say Stenhouse would be the one to sit. The majority of his sponsors were hold overs from Kenseth and Edwards. Roush would probably have a much easier time talking them into letting someone else drive the car. Blaney normally seems to outrun Elliott whenever he runs in Xfinity, so I don't think it's a bold or out-of-line statement at all. 646. 1995 Subaru WRX STi posted: 05.26.2015 - 3:18 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) "Not really. But your point is note worthy. 647. racefangurl posted: 05.26.2015 - 5:51 pm Rate this comment: (0) (2) Someone called Chase Elliott's car a Hendrick car. 648. racefangurl posted: 05.26.2015 - 9:23 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) 647 was a reply to 645. Maybe I should've made it clear. It seems to me someone thought his Xfinity car last was more like a Hendrick car than a JR motorsports car, maybe because of the sponsorship or affiliation. 649. Only spin I recall was Jimmie Johnson (twice) and Martin Truex had the car the beat once again and lost it at the end. There was no real racing ..only put stops were where the most of the passing took place. Both teams get the last two pit stall selections after qualifying, this means Chad Knaus most likely wont get his favorite pit stall selection the last one on pit road and will get a pit stall that will not help them out very good, no matter how they qualify they will still have the 42th pit stall selection. 653. This right here is why the 48 team is the most disliked in the sport. They get caught with their hand in the cookie jar two weeks in a row doing something NASCAR explicitly made clear at the beginning of the season not to do and instead of taking their lumps like big boys and acting the "pillar of maturity" Jimmie likes to falsely potray himself as, they decide to act like babies and game the system. Last pit selection on Dovers tight and treacherous pit-road = Real penalty. Last pit selection on Pocono's wide open pit-road = Non-penalty. 654. racefangurl posted: 05.28.2015 - 9:58 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Can Carl Edwards win two in a row? Concrete Carl they call him. Who else do you guys think is a good pick? Just asking because of fantasy NASCAR. 655. 1995 Subaru WRX STi posted: 05.28.2015 - 10:07 pm Rate this comment: (0) (2) "This right here is why the 48 team is the most disliked in the sport." Actually they are disliked because they win too much. In an unrelenting fashion with no end in site. They will rip your heart and soul out while you cry like a little girl begging them too stop. All sports have those people/teams. ""pillar of maturity" Jimmie likes to falsely potray himself as, they decide to act like babies and game the system." While his 2011 thing with Kurt Busch proved he lacks maturity, he is still far and away better then NASCAR fans in terms of "pillar of maturity." Jimmie has a ways too go before getting there. Although i'm glad NASCAR gave them the finger, if a system is in place it is going too be gamed. It is human nature or Chad Knaus' nature. 656. Even though the win is kind of fluky, Carl Edwards still kind of deserved it. What I mean by that, is that Carl Edwards had this exact race won a year ago, using the same exact fuel mileage strategy, but a late race caution did him in and he had to settle for 4th. 658. This is the first official points Cup race Kyle returns and he finished just outside the Top 10, in 11th. Kyle had returned a week earlier during the All-Star event to get back into the game. It would also result in Kyle Busch winning his first NASCAR Cup series championship in 2015. 659.
