His drivers are either top-10 or in the one case, Cup racing at Dover for the first time, so treat him like a rookie this time. He's what I call a track rookie, so we can't judge him harshly. I mean, on top of his inexperience in the Cup at Dover, it's a tough track. 7. epzik8 posted: 05.29.2015 - 11:13 pm Rate this comment: (1) (1) Jimmie will be up front in no time on Sunday. 8. racefangurl posted: 05.29.2015 - 11:22 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) *Gibbs 9. Except for poor Bayne. Brian Scott is fast. That is good, because I have no problem with Scott, but bad because it will keep Kennedy from DNQing. Good job for both BK guys who got in the top 36, too bad that it only happens Jeb would have made it anyway. 10. dennyfan11 posted: 05.30.2015 - 9:21 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Judging by how Biffle's second last week was just fuel mileage, i disagree. Denny showing speeding in Qualifying at Dover usually isn't a problem for him. Before Qualifying for this race, Denny's average starting spot at Dover is 12.3 and that is better than his career qualifying average in the cup series. Denny's problem at Dover has been on race day. 13. racefangurl posted: 05.30.2015 - 11:57 am Rate this comment: (0) (1) MAR, I'm with you. I wonder also if Bayne's not getting the good equipment from Jack yet? Jack's notorious for not evenly distributing equipment out. Also I think Truex's success can be directly attributed to having RCR equipment under the hood. I'd go as far as saying RCR is on par or slightly better then Hendricks equipment (an on par with Gibbs and Penske in NXS). But their strength is being masked by a horrid driver line-up that is full of pay drivers (Gaughn, Menard, Scott), His grandsons who are actually way more terrible then we give them credit for (Austin and Ty), and career under achievers (Mears). That and they have Allmindinger and Ryan Newman 15. racefangurl posted: 05.30.2015 - 1:21 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) The Great Dave, if Roush is giving 2 of his drivers good cars and the other still has the terrible cars, as you say, he's a JERK! 16. Eric posted: 05.30.2015 - 1:38 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Racegurl, It isn't known for sure Jack is giving Bayne bad equipment despite Jack's past in the late 90's. The problem with the claim of Jack could be giving Bayne bad equipment is the fact Trevor does suffer from Multiple Sclerosis and that might be affecting him as a driver. 17. Eric posted: 05.30.2015 - 1:53 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) I agree with Great Dave about Truex. Truex as a driver had problems of showing his full potential due to when he went to those teams or did what MWR did. We are seeing Truex's full potential as a cup driver. I've said in the past Paul Menard is a 3rd tier driver. The fact Kevin Harvick at RCR in 2013 credited Kurt Busch for his successful season for sharing information speaks about Paul Menard and the decline of Jeff Burton at the time. RCR's Problem is Ryan Newman is a downgrade from Harvick and Stewart-Haas found out the opposite. Ryan is better than his teammates at RCR. I do think Austin Dillon does have some talent based on what he did at Bristol before he ran out of fuel. Allmendinger as a driver is being helped by the pool of Road Course talent in cup. The talent pool is down in road racing and it depends on how Chase Elliot is going to do as a road racer replacing Jeff Gordon. The Cup Series lost Robby Gordon, Montoya, Ambrose, and next year Jeff Gordon. Tony Stewart's talent also is on the decline. 18. racefangurl posted: 05.30.2015 - 2:22 pm Rate this comment: (0) (1) Then, we could call the Jack Roush of the late 90's, anyway Jerk Roush. And i to also think Roush picks who he wants to have the best equipment in the late 90's it made no sense that Burton and Martin was championship contenders and the rest of the team was mid pack weekly until Kenseth and Kurt Busch came along then he gave Burton the poor equipment. And RCR is still a great team with mediocre drivers in his cars Truex has gotten the most out of the equipment by far since Harvick left i mean its a very unimpressive Roster of drivers. -Newman in my opinion is no longer the rocketman he is the consistent man 7th place at best. -Menard who mostly everybody hates is never fast enough to consistently get top 10's. -Cowboy hat number one was only fast in the truck series and Xfinity series cause grandpa out spent the competition -Cowboy hat number two is just about the same as his brother. -Brian Scott is cursed but maybe he's a cup driver than an Xfinity Series driver. -Brendon Gaughan actually has more wins than Ty Dillon in the past two years in the Xfinity series but he is never as fast as his other teammates. -The Dinger and Mears dont count cause their single car teams building a platform so no criticism there. 22. epzik8 posted: 05.31.2015 - 12:33 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Follow the leader time! 23. The only reason why he wasn't in the Top 10 in points last season was because the Chase Standings are a sham with the way the eliminations are setup. He has finished in the Top 5 in points all but 2 years of his career. He has won multiple races 14 years in a row. He's only going to turn 40 in September. The 48 will likely have 100 wins by the end of 2020 and at least 1 more title. Face facts, Johnson is a winner and he knows how to get the job done. People hate on him because they are not him. It could be quite similar to 2007 with Harvick being more steady but Johnson winning the races. Johnson is the fastest to reach 4 wins in a season since Kyle in 2008, while Biffle and Hamlin recorded their fifth wins at Michigan in 2005 and 2010, which Johnson can surpass next week. Harvick has already finished second SEVEN times. The modern era record is 12 by Bobby Allison in 1972 with Petty scoring 9 runner up finishes in 1972 and 1976. I don't believe anyone else has scored 9 in a season since 1972. Harvick and Truex (driver of the season) are ahead of Gordon's 2007 season with 12 top10s in 13 races. Gordon had 11 at this stage. However, Gordon reached 20 top10s in just 22 races so Harvick and Truex have each one mulligan to equal that. Truex leads the most laps for the third race in a row. This is something Johnson has never accomplished. Johnson looks almost certain to reach 90 wins now and at his current strike rate will reach 100 wins sometime in late 2019/early 2020. However, remember Gordon and Waltrip had more wins in less starts and were younger and failed to get the century. But with Hendrick's might and the fall of Roush 100 wins is looking good at the moment. 398. When a driver is racing hurt, a driver's performance does goes down. It took Jeff around 2011 for his back to be under enough control. How Darrell Waltrip didn't get a 100 cup wins is something I don't even see Jimmie Johnson attempting. Darrell had a concussion in 1983 Daytona 500, but I don't think slowed down as much as his broken leg in 1990 and becoming a team owner in 1991. Darrell later admitted being a team owner in 1991 was his biggest mistake and felt he cost himself wins. Darrell even created his own engine department in 1993 instead of getting Hendrick engines. I honestly think Darrell had a chance to win more races in the cup series from 1991 to the 1995 Winston race than he did if he wasn't a team owner. Darrell in 1995 before his Winston crash was capable of getting a win sometime in 1995. Darrell in 1995 had drivers replacing him during a race due to injuries he had at the 1995 Winston. 404. Tell me why Denny wasn't fined when he walked onto the track at Bristol last year. Does NASCAR think it's ok to do that because he had safety people around him when he did.... Consistency that's all I ask for NASCAR. 408. MJM the Hamlin fan posted: 06.02.2015 - 8:52 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) #407, Denny was still on the apron when he threw that HANS device of his. 409. He still walked away from the safety worker and towards the cars which is against the rules. I don't think Bayne even did that much and some people are acting like he should be suspended lol. Personally I think this shouldn't even be a rule and it's just an over reaction due to an idiotic kid trying to show off in front of a three time cup champ but hey that's just me. 410. I doubt he'll do anything to violate the probation, he's not a hothead type, so that's really just a slap on the wrist. Haven't heard Cobb's penalty announced yet. Hard to say if Bayne's penalty is fair until JJC's comes out. I agree her violation was much more similar to the Ward incident, since she had the intention of confronting another driver, and we'll see if the penalty reflects that. 413. For Roush Racing, $20,000 is a write-off. For JJC Racing, $5,000 is a nearly existential "can we afford not to S&P and risk wrecking at the next race" issue. 415. That's a bit of a different situation. First while that was a small team that penalty still happened in a Cup event. Second it involved the engine which NARSCAR has made very clear you don't mess with. I know it eventually got reduced but look at the initial penalty Kenseth got for his engine after he won Kansas. NASCAR just doesn't normally play nice with engine violations. 417. racefangurl posted: 06.04.2015 - 4:39 pm Rate this comment: (3) (1) You guys have a treat ahead of you.
