Besides Kurt Busch they all looked awful. Even Danica was exceptionally horrible on the Danica scale. 2. HScott cars are bizarrely slow yet again. Something's going to have to change over there VERY soon. 3. And seriously, what the heck is up with HScott?? 35th and 38th is pathetic. 18th is also terrible for Harvick's standards at Phoenix. 10. That means Hendrick is sabotaging his cars because he clearly wants Jimmie Johnson to win more! Junior will never win another race again as long as he has Hendrick sabotaging his cars, even though for the past two years he's won a combined 7 races! The government did 9/11! The moon landing was faked! Paul McCartney is dead and Osama bin Laden is still alive! *removes tinfoil hat* 12. H Scott looks terrible but really what can they do to fix it swap crew chiefs? Like I said last year that team is built to be a single car operation greed is running them flat. And 5 JGR/ affiliated teams in the top 8 can you say the new dominant team in NASCAR. 13. Jolly Mean Giant posted: 03.12.2016 - 12:03 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Yes or no on whether or not Junior wins another race in his career...I will have to say, 100%, without a doubt...yes. Absolutely yes. He has two top 10s already this year and he's still driving for one of the best teams in the sport. I say he gets at least 1, possibly 2 wins before the season is over (most likely at a plate track). We've had this discussion probably twenty times in the past few years. If it really bothers you THAT much that Junior isn't winning every single week...you need to take a step back and evaluate your life. Also, #16...Long Shot meant to create a USERNAME, not to give out your actual real NAME. Back in the early 2000s, most of the top contenders were still quite young, mostly in their mid-20s-early 30s. Now, however, most of the big contenders are more middle aged, in their late 30s- early 40s. I think the reason why this is happening is the lack of new talent entering the sport. Apart from Kyle Larson (and even he hasn't won a race) no drivers who have entered since the start of the decade have made much of an impact. I really want Kevin to hit 10 wins total here. Let's hope the Ford change doesn't mess that up next year, or the rain to ruin it again in the fall. This is the third photo finish in four races. Great finish between Harvick and Edwards! The way Kevin and Carl banged into each other down the frontstretch made this one reminiscent of Craven vs. Busch (I was at that race!) While not the greatest race ever, they certainly made up for it in the final two laps! A Harvick win at Phoenix is all too predictable, but at least he had to earn it on the final restart when most everyone else came in... Chase Elliott continues to impress early on his rookie season. 2 top 10s already (would've been three likely if not for the late crash at Vegas). Like him or not, you can already tell he's going to ultimately be a success in Cup. Blaney did fairly well too (ran top 15 pretty much all day). Definitely two guys who are going to light it up in the future... Biggest disappointments this year so far have got to be Clint Bowyer and Brian Scott. I figured Bowyer would have a weaker season with HScott, but I didn't anticipate TWO sub-30th place finishes in the first 4 races, and getting lapped multiple times on the track. I figured Scott would do better than Hornish did last season and run closer to Almirola's pace, but here again he ran in the low 20s, was lapped multiple times, and finished far behind his teammate. Definitely not what I thought we were going to see out of him after having several solid runs in sub-Childress equipment last year... And again, I have to give a thumbs-up to the low downforce package...while not the greatest race ever, it was STILL nice to see passing throughout the field and drivers coming and going. Another disappointment so far is McMurray, after last year I really thought his cars would be even better in 2016 but he's slow. Even when his team gains a few spots in the pits he gets shuffled back very quickly after the restart. He finished 2nd there last year and it seemed like it was another driver behind the wheel yesterday, the cars were a bit glued to the tracks (unlike Atlanta) so the new package probably didn't the change the driving style that much on a surface like this one so I don't know what happened... 418. No timetable is set for when NASCAR will announce the upcoming schedule but it is expected to be sooner than last year (October) and 2015 (Aug. 2014). NASCAR announced five-year agreements with tracks that host Sprint Cup and Xfinity races in October and with tracks that host Camping World Truck Series races in November, assuring events through the 2020 season in each series. By having those agreements in place, it allows NASCAR to focus on dates earlier in the year. Dover's sanctioning agreement - recently released in a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, also states that NASCAR will use "good faith" to maintain relative placement of races in the series calendar. The clause about future schedules also includes: "Opportunities may stem from any number of factors including, but not limited to, requests for realignment, requests for date changes, requests from NASCAR's then current transmission partners, the dates of other major sports events, changing local market conditions, and so on. Accordingly, (NASCAR Event Management) may make adjustments to the overall annual Series Calendar for one or more of the future calendar years that fall under the Term of this Agreement to maximize the value of the Series. Except as noted above, if such an adjustment requires an Event date change(s) of more than two (2) weeks, NEM will notify PROMOTER on or before April 1st of the preceding year and such change will only be made with the PROMOTER's consent." That's all I can find on the subject and nowhere do I see anything about banning NASCAR-like series on NASCAR tracks. Any more information would be helpful because that is a very bold statement and needs to be cleared up. 443. David posted: 03.16.2016 - 3:32 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) I found the story on Jayski. "Changes to NASCAR sanctioning agreements this year: NASCAR has added new language to its sanction agreements that prohibit anything resembling the Sprint Cup Series at tracks that have Sprint Cup races. Because Dover International Speedway's entire business is virtually reliant on its two NASCAR weekends, Dover filed select financial information as well as its entire Sprint Cup sanction agreements with the Securities and Exchange Commission last week. The money Dover will get from the NASCAR television package will increase from 3.37 percent to 4.25 percent annually over the next five years. Dover will receive $30.7 million in television money for its two Sprint Cup weekends ... and it will increase anywhere from $1.1 million to $1.4 million a year through 2020. The sanction agreement also includes some new language -- interesting language from the standpoint that *NASCAR has now banned any races of similar cars at the tracks where Sprint Cup competes*. Among other new items in the five-year sanction agreements: * NASCAR will tell promoters by April 1 the dates of their races for the following year. * There is a new section on "secondary ancillary rights" fees that will be distributed 60 percent to teams, 30 percent to promoters and 10 percent to NASCAR. These would be non-live broadcast rights for highlights and other digital content, including licensing to fantasy games for use of driver and team images. * There is a new section called "event standards" that creates a promoter council and requires that the tracks and NASCAR will work together to create series-wide and event-specific criteria relative to fan experience, remote viewers experience, promotion of events and stature of events - and that NASCAR and the track would put together a plan to rectify any shortfalls or deficiencies. * NASCAR will now require pace vehicles to be only those from manufacturers that participate in NASCAR competition, with any track deals with other manufacturers grandfathered in for 2016." 445. Are they trying to give him nicknames? 451. Smiff_2 posted: 03.17.2016 - 4:29 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) Thank you, David, I *knew* I'd seen in somewhere on there. If NASCAR doesn't grandfather in ARCA, I'm gonna be pissed. Yes, they have the finest track diversity of any stock car series in the country, but most all of their televised events are at the NASCAR-sanctioned tracks. I'd hate to see even *less* of their races on TV. There are so few as it is. 452. However, on the bright side, it may help other struggling short tracks in the country, as ARCA would need new dates. Does anyone else see a possible return of Rockingham to ARCA if this happens? And like Smiff_2 said, the ARCA schedule is one of the best for stock car racing. They have superspeedways (Daytona and Talladega), short tracks (Winchester, Nashville, Salem, Toledo, Iowa, IRP, Berlin), 1.5 mile tracks (Kansas, Kentucky, Chicagoland), road courses (New Jersey), 2 mile ovals (Michigan), irregular tracks (Pocono), and dirt tracks (Illinois and DuQuinn). Obviously not all are Cup tracks, but I would hate to see that schedule go to waste. 453. Larry McReynolds was the in-race analyst. Chris Myers and Michael Waltrip were in the Hollywood hotel. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
