When Ty was third fastest, they showed the car in Turn 2 and said that RCR probably had something to do with the Radio Frequency, the number, etc and then Jeff said it was a full blown RCR entry on Air. 3. He is running in the 30s weekly now. 9. Ultimate Warrior #18 posted: 04.08.2016 - 6:13 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) All jokes aside I'm not a Bowyer fan I don't really like the guy but how the hell did he get this bad? Allgaier wasn't this slow weekly in the same equipment. He's a veteran in the series with a veteran crew chief that's won races before I thought they would be around 18-25 this season weekly but he's been the biggest disappointment so far in 2016. 10. joey2448 posted: 04.08.2016 - 6:44 pm Rate this comment: (2) (0) I can almost guarantee you it's nothing to do with Bowyer himself. Drivers just don't forget how to go fast. The team is obviously struggling this season. Just happens to be a down year for HScott. 11. Braindead Zombie posted: 04.08.2016 - 7:08 pm Rate this comment: (0) (1) Nice runs for Chase and Stenhouse. Bowyer continues to suck this year I see... 12. murb posted: 04.08.2016 - 7:23 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) As I posted on Bowyer's page, there's an article on Jayski that basically confirms that he's running HScott equipment with zero backing from SHR (not that that's really news or anything, as that's been my hunch for a while now - but that article confirmed it). So I'm gonna agree with Joey and blame most all of this on HScott just being completely atrocious. I do think Bowyer is probably slightly past his prime and isn't the driver he once was (not that he was ever THAT great), but I really do believe now that the equipment is making him look WAY worse than he actually is. Once he gets in the #14 next year (assuming SHR doesn't have too many major growing pains with Ford - judging from Penske's relatively smooth transition to Ford in 2013 I'm predicting they won't), I imagine he'll be back to being a weekly top 12-15 driver again. As for this race, Logano has consistently looked like the best car all weekend so far, so I'm inclined to pick him. Chase might have a real shot at his first win as well with that nice qualifying effort (and also considering that he got his first NXS win here). 13. Anonymous posted: 04.08.2016 - 8:25 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) Bowyer has about the same average finish so far as Allgaier did last year...it's not that HScott is on the decline, HScott's always been this bad. 14. racefangurl posted: 04.08.2016 - 11:50 pm Rate this comment: (0) (1) 11, all the Roushkateers were in the 2nd round. Considering that Jimmie Johnson won each of them, I think I know who I will predict to win the race. 18. racefangurl posted: 04.09.2016 - 9:51 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) 17, maybe it's time for a different winner, but maybe not. I guess people don't like my picks, even if they qualified up there. I'm just some stupid idiot race fan for picking top-12 starting drivers other than Johnson, I guess. 19. racefangurl posted: 04.09.2016 - 10:12 am Rate this comment: (0) (1) 2011 was the first time I watched any car racing, except for a video of an Australian car race or the race scenes in Cars, since 2000. After 2007, Johnson was winless at Texas until fal1 2012. Those names in posts 15 and 16 were heart picks, so I'll make a head pick on race day of Johnson winning again. 20. racefangurl posted: 04.09.2016 - 10:16 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) *fall 21. In all honesty, I think Tony should just go for another year, but I highly doubt it since he'd have to race in a Ford instead of for GM. Let alone Clint Bowyer will most likely be stuck running in the 30th positions for another year also. 22. (boredom / disappointment) A race is like a movie, storylines need time to develop and play out. Cutting things short with cautions for 'debris' puts an disappointing end to the story arc, with no payoff, no reward or satisfaction and allows a new one to begin without anything carried over. On a track like Texas, that doesn't work. Take a movie like The Revenant. The Revenant is a movie with a 156 minute running time and a relatively simple story, but it benefits immensely from the slow burn and development that is able to happen with such a long runtime. If the film was to have been broken up into many, shorter story arcs, instead of one big long when, then there wouldn't have been much satisfaction to speak of. And the same goes for a NASCAR race. The minute you hit the reset button, the value of everything prior is instantly diminished with no payoff to the viewer. Just let the races be races! 302. Though I have not seen The Revenant, I get the point you're making, and I whole-heartedly agree with your statement. Unfortunately...NASCAR doesn't seem to get this. Their primary concern seems to be appealing to the fair-weather fans who have attention spans as long as-if not shorter than-a goldfish's. Those are the fans who cry "BORING! And that is exactly why 'debris' cautions will hurt more than help - if the product on the short run isn't very exciting, having more short runs isn't going to suddenly change things! I remember a Pocono race around 2009, Kasey Khane dominated and won in the red #9. As I recall, the #9 was so untouchable on short runs and restarts and was never going to be beaten. The commentators were getting desperate hoping for something to happen. And then during the closing stages of the race, where it looked like fuel strategy might come into play with a long green flag run, suddenly, debris caution! And the reaction from the commentators was "This is great, now everyone gets a chance to try and beat the #9". Uh....he has been unbeatable on restarts and this one is not going to be any different. And sure enough, that's what happened. The harder you force something to happen, the more likely you are to get the opposite of what you want. 352. It only took a damn near career ending crash at Daytona last year, but he's finally figured it all out seemingly. It's anticlimactic as hell, but if he ever got his head on straight, this was bound to happen at some point. "I think Stewart-Haas is going to take a hit going to Ford and that's going to play more and more into Kyle's hands" Agreed, except instead of Ford knocking them down a peg, I think just the fact that all four of their drivers (counting Bowyer next year) are either getting seriously old or are just incompetent backmarkers is by far their biggest problem. They horrendously dropped the ball by not picking up a young guy in this new wave of young guys we've seen lately (Elliott/Blaney/Jones/Larson, etc). Their only young driver (Cole Custer) is about three or four years away at least from hitting Cup, and by then Harvick/Bowyer/Busch might all be incredibly washed up. 547. Edwards was the class of the field today before tire troubles sent him back. However, he still came back to finish 7th, and it's the first time he's led over 100 laps in a race with JGR. Matt Kenseth's terrible luck continues I see. For the first 30 laps until the competition caution, Johnson was flying, he went all the way from 11th to 3rd. The contact with Busch on pit road ended his chances of being the best car, because watching the race he was never as fast and started to struggle with passing cars. Watching the crash on the backstretch was interesting, it was the first time I've seen a crash involving 5 or more cars in person. What the heck happened to Harvick? I know he still finished 10th, but that was a dissapointing race for their standards. What the heck happened to Keselowski? Unless something broke or they had issues, embarrassing performance for the 2 team. Overall, the race was meh. I thought that the downforce package would provide lots of lead changes, but mostly it was Edwards and Truex at the front, occasionally passing each other. Overall the race wasn't terrible, but it wasn't particularly noteworthy either. I'd give it a B- or C+. 575. They were one of the only ones to stay out, and I thought that the pack was going to swallow him whole. Before the restart, I told my dad, "Mark my words, not pitting is going to cost him the race." I was right. And that is why it's so frustrating to pull for Truex, talented and likeable, yes, but he always finds a way to lose it at the end, whether it's other teams, his pit crew, or himself. The 78 team choked this one away with their terrible pit strategy. And I'm far from a Busch fan, but I sense a lot of butthurt posters over the fact that Truex didn't win. Racing is not always about having the best car, but having the best strategy, and the 18 had the best strategy at the end of the race. They deserve this win. If Kyle turns the Xfinity or Truck Series into smithereens like normal, then yeah, I hate it as well. But this was a CUP race, not sure why everyone's so mad. If you thought Stewart Haas moving to Ford was surprising just imagine how wild it could get in the next few months. Here's my fantasy predictions for this year's silly season. Its early but here we go. 1. Stewart Haas racing makes another surprising move by convincing 5 hour energy to drop Bowyer in favor for Denny Hamlin. 2. JGR shuffles there driver lineup and sponsor lineups. Erik Jones get's promoted to drive the #20 with Dollar General and Gamestop,Edwards slides over to the #11 with Fedex and Subway, Kenseth on the last year of his contract slides to the #19 with Arris as Daniel Suarez will take over in 2018. 3. Penske Racing adds Ryan Blaney to a 3rd team with Discount Tire moving up. 4. The Wood Brothers continue to receive penske support but who will drive? Paul Menard and yes bringing the Menards sponsorship. 5. RCR moves up Ty Dillon to the #31 and move Newman to a renumbered #33. 6. Furniture Row racing finally adds a second team with Aric Almirola and Smithfield coming to sponsor. 7. Greg Biffle retires leaving Chris Buescher to take the #16 8. Landon Cassill moves to Richard petty motorsports to take over the #43. 9. Clint Bowyer goes to front row motorsports with Matt Dibenedetto joining him. 10. Jamie Mac resigns with Ganassi and Stenhouse resigns with Roush Fenway. Regan Smith Resigns with TBR, Ragan resigns with Bk Racing and Michael McDowell resigns to Levine family racing. 619. No way Arris leaves Edwards. 3. It would be great, but probably won't happen because Discount Tire are morons. 4. If this happened, the Wood Brothers would likely go back to running a part time team for someone like Vickers. I doubt Menard goes there. 5. If Newman stays at RCR (more on that later), he's probably staying in the #31. Dillon will move to the #33 if anything. 6. I can see Ryan Newman in that car. Almirola isn't leaving Petty. 7. Could happen. 8. He has a better chance of taking over the #44 than the #43. But I think thats too optimistic. 9. Not a chance. 10. Yes, yes, probably, yes, and yes. 620. But, like you said, it is a very wild silly season idea. As far as Jones is concerned, I'm curious to see what happens there. The same thing goes for Blaney. It's no secret Penske wants him under the Team Penske banner and not at a satellite team. It's mostly worth thinking about what happens with the #21 when Blaney ultimately ends up with Penske 621. It's the best way to get him to Cup full time without disrupting the current driver and sponsor lineup at Gibbs. The future of the #21 is an interesting question. I don't think Penske will necessarily move Blaney over in 2017, but it is in the long range plan. It would be in the best interest of the Wood Brothers to continue to run full time if it can eventually earn them a chartered spot. We've yet to see this rule in action, but supposedly the charter of an underperforming team can be revoked and awarded to someone else. A driver who can bring some sponsorship along would be a huge plus, and they can provide good equipment in return if they continue their Penske alliance. 622. Jones is going to FRR next year and JGR in 2018. 3. I continue to see Penske at 2 with and WBR with the satellite team. 4. See number 3. 5. Newman retires sooner or later and that's when Ty moves up. 6. See number 2. 7. Very likely. 8. He stays at Front Row 9. See number 1. 10. Yes 10 big moves in 1 year. Yah, not going to happen. 623. Might Happen 4. No won't happen Menard will stay at RCR 5. Can see it happening but the other way around Newman in the 31 and Dillon in the 33 6. Jones is going to the 2nd FRR team next season 7. Yeah Buescher needs a better ride and biffle is old so Biffle will retire soon 8. No Landon won't go to RPM 9. No way Clint Bowyer will probably stay at HScott or find a better ride Dibenedetto will stay At BK racing 10. Most likely will happen 625. So, according to him, its Jimmie, Junior, and Chase Elliotts fault that Kasey Kahne has been awful since 2014? 626. Johnson, Dale, Jr., and Chase Elliott (who is a rookie and is exceeding expectations) have all been weekly top ten drivers. It is by pure bad luck that they've had those races where they didn't finish well. The only driver not performing well is Kahne. 628.
