I know that this comment will get at least 750 thumbs down if not many more. Rick Hendrick favors Dale Jr. over Kasey Kahne and gives Kasey the worst equipment ever. 4. He hasn't won a race in an entire six races! What is going on??? Rick Hendrick must be sabotaging him for Dale Jr., Kasey Kahne, and that rookie! At least he got to pass Dale Earnhardt in wins as his final career win. 6. numbah10hatah posted: 05.13.2016 - 4:48 pm Rate this comment: (2) (0) It's sad to see what has happened to this once great site. 7. If I had to guess the driver in question here is probably Kahne and that the place he might end up is HScott with HMS then helping them like they currently help SHR. Kahne's replacement though, I have no idea. I'd want to say Larson, but why would Chip decide now to let Larson out of his contract early when Tony wanted to get Larson last year and Chip said no. If it's not him I think the only other driver it could be is Harvick. I've said for months the only ride he'd leave SHR for was the 5 car and with his contract being up he'd probably be much easier to get than Larson. 8. Braindead Zombie posted: 05.13.2016 - 5:24 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Yeah, it would have to be Kahne. Not even just because of his struggles lately, but just process of elimination. Chase Elliott is a rookie, Jimmie Johnson is a six time champion, and Dale Jr. is the most popular driver. Hell would be raised if any of those three were released. I have to wonder if the driver they're going after to replace him could possibly be Newman though? Yeah, Larson is a big probability, but we know Newman probably won't be back with RCR next year, and it would be a great way for him to have one last elite ride before he retires and be a good stop-gap for someone like John Hunter. Just a possibility. 9. BMan0213 posted: 05.13.2016 - 5:29 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) @8 Yeah i just don't see Newman as an option. However, if Larson is the one to go to the 5 I could very well see Newman as the driver who goes to the 42. It would make a lot more sense for Chip to get him than say put Brennan Poole in the car. 10. Scott B posted: 05.13.2016 - 5:34 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Hamlin might be someone Hendrick would go after for the #5. He'd be a step up from Kahne. 11. I see people rave about this a lot, but the only thing I recall him ever getting right was Kurt Busch to SHR (and by the time he said it, at that point I think it had been rumored for weeks and it was pretty much a 50-50 choice between SHR and Furniture Row by then). I don't deny that he perhaps has some sort of behind the scenes credentials, but overall he seems way more like a guy who just enjoys stirring shit up and getting people talking as opposed to some Nascar version of Adrian Wojnarowski or somebody with all these crazy inside sources that nobody else has. He's fun to follow and stuff, but I try not to take most of what he says too seriously. 16. Lol, it wasn't completely Carl Edwards' fault. For one thing, Carl Edwards was trying to actually give Kurt Busch some room after Kurt got loose. Then Kyle Larson made a boneheaded move trying to go three wide coming off turn two with Ku. Busch and Carl Edwards. Sure Carl got loose all on his own, but going three wide coming off of turn two at Dover is almost as stupid as going three wide at Martinsville; it almost never works out. It wasn't completely Carl's fault, it wasn't completely Kyle's fault, it was a racing incident; and unfortunately Carl went from probably having an 80% chance of winning to a 28th place DNF... 430. And you know, if they could somehow swing a Larson/Kahne ride swap where Kahne winds up in the #42 (as opposed to HScott which has been rumored I guess), I think that could be good for Kahne as well. He had his best days as the focal point at Evernham, so he'd immediately be back in that position at Ganassi (and honestly, it might be an even better situation for him than Evernham as current day Ganassi is WAY more stable as an organization than Evernham ever was during Kahne's tenure there). In that scenario, I think he'd have a great chance at rejuvenating his career a la Jamie McMurray when HE left a big multi-car powerhouse and returned to the smaller Ganassi team (especially if Hendrick decides to pour more into Ganassi next year with SHR leaving, which in my opinion they'd be stupid not to do). So IF this is all true and Hendrick is looking for a change, to me that's absolutely the best option. Get Larson, form a new SHR-style alliance with Ganassi, and make a deal to send Kahne there to try and resurrect himself (basically as a courtesy and to "keep him in the family", or whatever). If they are doing all of this for Harvick though, I think that's a really dumb idea as I don't think I would go through all of that trouble just to get a 40 year old guy to come and be the team's second best driver (second best to another 40 year old guy, and also teammates with ANOTHER 40 year old guy, no less). 439. I'm very impressed by how well he runs in so-so equipment. 440. Braindead Zombie posted: 05.16.2016 - 8:16 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) My momey would be on Larson. If Hendrick could pick him up, they'd be set for the future with two of the top young drivers in the sport. But a name I'm surprised isn't being brought up is Denny Hamlin. We know Erik Jones will be in cup soon, and unless Kenseth retires, Hamlin is probably the driver I'd see as most likely to leave JGR for Jones to replace. Gibbs could also put Erik in the rumored second FRR car, but a) we don't know if that car will even exist yet, and b) He has too much potential, and Gibbs knows this, for him out to begin his career being farmed out to another team (yes, I know someone will bring up Ryan Blaney, but that isn't even a Wood Brothers alliance, thats a third Penske car with the Wood Brothers #21 on the side). In fact, if Hamlin stays in the JGR camp, I could see him being the one who ends up in the second FRR car next year. 441. However I assume Ford will be pumping enough money into it so that they will be elite no matter what. 442. Tyson posted: 05.16.2016 - 9:46 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Furniture Row pretty much already is another JGR car, so Jones going to a second FRR car would pretty much be the exact same situation as Blaney in the 21. Also, I don't think Hendrick would have even an ounce of interest in Hamlin. 443. He is the seventh driver to lead at 3,000 laps at a single track. Who are the others? 1) Richard Petty has led at least 3,000 laps at FOUR different tracks. Nashville and Rockingham. For the other two, however, he has led over a whooping 5,000 laps: Richmond and North Wilkesboro. 2) Cale Yarborough indeed have the record setting FIVE tracks with at least 3,000 laps led as Bristol is the only track that he actually achieved 4,000 laps led at. The other four: Atlanta, Martinsville, Nashville and Rockingham 3) Darrell Waltrip has led 3,436 laps at Bristol 4) Rusty Wallace has led over 3,000 laps at 3 tracks. Those are actually all the active short tracks on this year's schedule: Martinsville, Bristol and Richmond. 5) Dale Earnhardt has led 3751 laps at Bristol 6) Jeff Gordon has led 3779 laps at Martinsville 7) Jimmie Johnson, after this race was concluded, has now led 3003 laps at Dover. Let's not forget that he's still going strong and has 2,746 laps led at Martinsville. Honorable Mention: Bobby Allison has been super close to reaching that 3K laps led mark, only 2958 laps led at Richmond. So you can see, its no fluke that Jimmie is indeed on the same level as these guys. As for the other active drivers, I don't see anyone else achieving this other than Kyle Busch. Kevin Harvick's dominance at Phoenix is too late into his career and he hasn't even hit halfway yet (only 1484 laps led). If Kyle Busch can regain his 2008-2011 form back at Bristol, he could easily be the eighth driver to join the list. Already 1704 laps led and still 31 years old? I'd say don't count him out. 444. I'm not really sure what happened after this one and the 2017 races, which were also good, but no other race since those has been as good. Both 2018 races were average at best, the 2019 races, while the Fall race had some good battles, were pretty boring. The first 2020 race was the best Dover race since 2017, but it was still kinda average, and the second race wasn't really that good. I think it's mostly due to the aero dependency of the Gen 6 car because the COT and Gen 4 races were mostly pretty good. Hopefully the Gen 7 fixes the problems of the Gen 6 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
