NASCAR should just scrap the pit gun rule and let the teams do their own (which worked for 40-odd years), but admitting they made a mistake has never been a strong point with NASCAR's brain trust. 13. If NASCAR was still a production based series you might get some interest from Nissan or one of the European brands, but as it stands there's just not enough benefit to have to design a custom engine to what's basically a 1950's spec. There are other series where they can start from a production design, or at least a design that's technologically advanced, which would give a bigger "win on Sunday, sell on Monday" return. 32. Is that the first since Parker Klingerman turned over at Daytona in 2014? That blower looked a lot like Matt Kenseth's flip here in 2016 where it wasn't the fact that McMurray got into trouble that rolled him over but the fact he was hit by another car just as the #1 started to get air underneath it causing it to go over further. 40. The only difference was Kenseth's car managed to land before hitting the inside wall, whereas McMurray's car was still up in the air and impacted the inside catchfence, which was really scary. 43. joey2448 posted: 04.27.2018 - 6:17 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) As a result, NASCAR said they will narrowing the restrictor plate holes this weekend, starting Saturday in qualifying. The plates will be reduced in size from 7/8ths of an inch to 55/64ths, which is about a reduction of 12 to 15 horsepower. McMurray's fastest lap prior to his wreck was over 203 mph. 44. I don't love him, but he hasn't really done anything in my book that deserves hate. I'm pretty indifferent on him. He had a run-in with Hamlin, but nobody likes Hamlin. He had the issue with Kenseth, but Kenseth more than got him back for that. 237. He's been in dust-ups with Stewart, Busch, Newman, Kenseth, Hamlin, and Harvick off the top of my head. Each time, he either paints himself as the victim, or has his daddy come in and help him. I can't respect either. After every incident, he walks around with that dumb ass grin on his face like the entire garage loves him. I find him to be contemptible at best. 239. Handling played a huge role and cars really couldn't get side by side to do much racing. It was a lot of single file racing and no one really could make many moves and manufacturers seemed like they wanted to work with themselves and not with other people, which hurts racing. At least Logano broke his winless streak and got a win after his encumbered result at Richmond last year. 254. I'm not sure that's a question that can really be answered because, under any sensible championship format, Jimmie would not have won the 2016 title. Looking at the numbers, it's really been declining slowly since winning his 2013 title. 262. Alex posted: 04.30.2018 - 8:55 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Top 11 in points as of this race: 1. Gibbs 2. In both cases Truex was laps down to the point where completing another lap or two would have had zero impact on his finishing position. It's probably because the cars looked so fast without a limit on how low they could get at the Superspeedways. They were so sleek and low to the ground, they looked like a rocket ship compared to last year(2017), which made them look slow in comparison. 283.
