No need for StarCom to bring two cars to a west coast race with no sponsorship, especially as season is coming to an end. We will be able to comply with the NASCAR rule. Timmy Hill at the controls... I would like to thank Derrike and Elisha Cope for running the Rewards.com logo this weekend on StarCom Racing's #99. Shame the Playoff ruined what could have been an interesting battle between the two, to see if Kyle can rebround this week at Phoenix and next week at Homestead to hold Harvick off, or if Harvick is just too fast for him to keep up. Back in the sprint race here, Kyle Busch led the most laps and got beaten by Kevin Harvick late in the race. This is the first time we're entering this race with Harvick potentially looking at win #10 alone at the Phoenix International Raceway. He won #9 earlier this year. This will be the inaugural race that the start-finish line will be switched to the backstretch. It'll be interesting to see if we can get a dramatic and exciting finish with how wide the apron is in this upcoming race. P.S.: I know I said Phoenix International Raceway, but I don't like how it's been renamed ISM Raceway. It'll always be Phoenix in my book. 11. Now their fate is in their own hands and the 78 can clinch with 39 points scored and the 18 clinches with 36 points. The 4 and the 41 are pretty much in a horse race, if the 41 outfinishes harvick by 1 spot in each stage and the race and the 10,9,& 14 dont win the 41 will advance on the tiebreaker of better finish. 24. But now, he's gonna pay for it big time - 40 points are out, crew and car chiefs are suspended and he's just 3 points above the cutline, which means that if he or his pitcrew screw up again, they're out. Plus, I know it's just a theoretical points standing, but if Kyle Busch has a decent races at Phoenix and Homestead and Kevin Harvick doesn't earn maximum points, the regular season championship is his. Kevin Harvick can be only mad at his team for going too far, otherwise it would be him with a 40+ point lead already... Yep, it's definitely better to play by the rules and have everything set up rather not that good like a dominating team, but at the edge of the rules, which is still legal... You can avoid some unnecessary penalties, then. And I thought that they learned their "cheating" lesson after that Las Vegas win... Well, once a cheater, always a cheater. And this is why he's a better driver than Kyle Busch, Drakion? Kyle doesn't have a need to cheat at least - actually, he failed post-race inspection just twice in his entire Cup career due to a problem that had something to do with the car (that means no lug nut issues, which are just a mistake of a pitcrew). And in both cases, the reason was that his car was too high on some side, but this has been eliminated from Cup already. 26. In that case, some lower series cheating doesn't matter, right? 28. Nonsense - he just cheated and it's a good thing he paid for it. Mannoroth posted: 11.09.2018 - 7:37 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) 50. NASCAR even considers that they will start taking wins away next year. When you pass post-race inspection, the top 2 finishers along with the random car go to the R&D center for proper inspection, so when those top 2 finishers fail, they need to bring the 3rd place car there as well to check, if everything is okay. If not, the 4th place car etc. And if all the cars are illegal, there would be no winner of the race. It may look like it's a simple solution, but imagine those discussions, when it happens to a likeable driver like Chase Elliott or Ryan Blaney... "How the f*ck did they cheat? There's no way!" And another extreme - Kyle Busch wins the race, fails inspection and they don't take his win away, because it was just some minor problem. "What the f*ck? Kyle Busch is a bloody cheater that needs to be wrecked in every goddamn race! He deserves to win no more races!!!" And as far as NASCAR's inconsistency is concerned, I think this can easily happen, because most of NASCAR fans are unsatisfied with anything all the time. Always something... 60. But if it's something with equipment, then he can know about it... Just look at Jimmie Johnson, when Chad Knaus was once telling him to destroy his racecar, if he wins at Talladega... I only count those post-race inspections, because that's the only inspection that matters. Others aren't that important. And I also don't count lug nut issues, because the equipment of the car is fine, it's just the mechanics that did that mistake. And when you look into the history, when was the last time Kyle Busch failed post-race inspection in Cup for equipment reasons? First race at Pocono in 2011... And when was the last time he failed post-race inspection in Cup after winning a race? Sure, Kansas 2016, but that were just lug nut issues. I'm not looking at it as an "important thing," but only to assist in Kyle's legacy in Cup in the end. I mentioned it every other week and you whine about it, but you bring it up in an earlier post and you're a saint. Stick with cycling, kid. "And him winning 3 in a row? I'm not saying it's impossible, but as I said - the more races you win in a row, the lower probability you'll win, when it matters the most. When not on a hot streak, the probability is higher." THREE different drivers has won 3 in a row this season, including Harvick, so you're still spit-balling bullsh*t as always. All they care about is the best possible performance in their sport, that's all. 86. So you think winning races in a row is a piece of cake? Like you can win, let's say, 5 in a row, when you just want to? Just look at Harvick earlier this season - was on a hot streak, had a perfect chance to make it 4 in a row at Fontana and he screwed up. Now look at Kyle Busch, who also did win 3 in a row - also had that same chance, but at Talladega, where it's a lot harder than on a normal track and also failed to win. And finally, Brad Keselowski - nice streak in form of winning 3 races in a row and then he failed to win at Richmond, which is a normal track as well. Just used his stuff too early... Winning back-to-back isn't that rare, so I pretty expect Harvick to easily win at Phoenix, but then, in order to win the title, he would have to most likely win at Homestead as well. No problem you say? Well, it wouldn't be a problem, if he didn't win 2 previous races... 87. & 88. If Kyle Busch wins at Phoenix, it will be his first win there with JGR and also the first win for #18 at Phoenix, because even Bobby Labonte failed to win there. And that track is the only one excluding Charlotte Roval, where that car hasn't won yet. No car number in the history of NASCAR won everywhere just like the driver of that car - not even Petty or Gordon. Kyle Busch managed to do it as a driver, but thanks to his Phoenix win back from 2005 with HMS in #5 car. Plus, he isn't exactly lucky at Phoenix - when he leads the final laps, always something happens like in 2010, 2012 or 2017. 89. I already told you that I can't just stay with cycling, when I have 3 major things I care about... Plus, so be it. He has no plans to run anymore races after next week. 2) Denny Hamlin and Jimmie Johnson failed to finish in the Top 10. They have one more race to go next week to see who can prevent a winless season for the first time in their career since they've went full time. 3) Kyle Busch would pull away from Kevin Harvick by 15 points, having a 55 point lead over Kevin Harvick in the season long points standings. It is very, very likely that Kyle Busch has secured this achievement thanks for the huge penalty given to Kevin Harvick last week. 4) Jimmie Johnson has lost a spot in the standings to Austin Dillon, currently sitting 14th in both the season long standings and Playoff standings. Between Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson, this ties the worse since Jeff Gordon's rookie season back in 1993, when he was also winless as Jimmie is this season. Since Jimmie is currently 81 points behind Erik Jones in the season long points standings, he can finish no better than 14th since the max points is 60 for next week. That #43 team has really had a rough season, so this is sure to give them a morale boost heading into the offseason. William Byron has also had a rough stretch. He finished 8th today; his last top 15 finish was 13 races ago. With Matt Kenseth's 7th place finish, all the teams in the top 31 in owner points have at least 1 top 10 finish this season. Up to this point, the #6 was the only team in that group that didn't have a top 10 finish. As both of their careers wind down, this was quite possibly the last top 10 finish ever for Jamie McMurray (6th) and Matt Kenseth (7th). Kevin Harvick was mediocre at Martinsville, won at Texas with illegal car and had a solid race at Phoenix. And Kyle Busch was solid at Martinsville, too conservative at Texas and won at Phoenix. So we will have to wait for some future Rounds of 8, where some driver finally breaks that trend of not winning more than once. And Harvick can be now pretty thankful that he didn't win, because he won't be on a hot streak at Homestead, so his probability to win the championship is now higher. Kyle Busch will most likely have to win back-to-back to win the title, but that isn't as rare as going for 3 in a row. In my opinion, it will be either him or Harvick. Truex and Logano aren't bad, but not as fast as them. As I said on Kyle Busch's page, this makes him and his car probably the most complete duo ever, because he managed to win at all "original" Cup tracks with JGR and with #18 car. Phoenix was the only missing win for that car. Now, only the Charlotte Roval is missing. Kyle's Phoenix win also makes sure that Kyle Busch will once again be the driver with the most NASCAR wins this season from all 3 series, because this was his 11th win (8 in Cup, 1 in Xfinity and 2 in Trucks). Kevin Harvick has "only" 8 wins in Cup and one win in Xfinity, which won't be enough. Unlike Sector, I don't care too much about the theoretical point standings without the playoff, but now, it's almost sure that Kyle Busch will finally score the most points with the system used before 2004 - all races matters. Kevin Harvick just can't score 57 or more points to make it happen as long as Kyle Busch will wreck and score only one point. And if Kyle Busch scores at least 4 points in Stage 1, it's official. And if someone still wants to argue that it's ridiculous that Kyle Busch's number of Cup wins is the lowest of all 3 series, it's not true anymore. He is now tied with his 51 Truck wins and it's really obvious that his number of Cup wins will not remain the same in the future. So, 6 to go, I guess. 194 NASCAR wins and counting... 319. Stage points aren't included, it's all about the finishing positions plus the number of laps led. That also means Kyle Busch has a chance for a triple like Martin Truex, Jr. last year, who managed to lead the point standings without the Chase/playoff, with the old Chase rules and with the playoff rules - so 100% legit champion. 332. Now if it was Top 20 or maybe 25, that might make more sense. The realty we have is Kyle Busch is the 2015 champion and that's that. Regardless, this is why I've said before and I've said it again, Kyle scoring the most points would be beneficial to have as an accomplishment (Regardless of how many people like to bring up "they'd race differently without it," which is funny considering both he and Harvick have had a career year this year). Either way, it's pretty unlikely that all 3 drivers in front of him in the Championship 4 would have some problems, so he could finally "win" the title with the old Chase rules - he failed to win the title, when that system was in place (2004-2013) and since 2014, there always was some driver that was just better during the final 10 races (especially Logano with his 3 straight top 2 finishes).
