It seems like every race there since 2015 (when they moved to February) there is a close encounter with weather. February is overall a very rainy season for north Georgia (as a native myself), not to mention it can get pretty cold which makes for a poor tailgating experience. I suggest moving it to April or May, where it is warmer and not as wet. Perhaps it could swap dates with Texas, which would be closer to Las Vegas, and would help teams making the west coast journey. Or, we could have the west coast swing immediately after Daytona. 36. OR you could also say that in the last five years here, Harvick has absolutely shredded the competition here, leading 915 laps (55 percent) of the total laps run. If you've actually watched any of the recent races here, you'd know that Harvick has just found a rhythm and groove to clicking off fast laps and running away from the field. He's a master here. Of course, all that can be thrown out the window now that the new aero/downforce rules package will be used. I don't think anything can be predicted about what we'll see this weekend until Friday practice. @29 Why exactly do you believe a road course specialist would have a leg up on a fast 1.5-mile speedway? Where is the correlation? 38. possum posted: 02.19.2019 - 10:10 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) @22 - the way it used to work, owners points went with the team, not the charter. So if Spire bought the #78 team, along with the charter, they'd get the points. Of course, NASCAR rules are malleable, and to encourage a new owner to join they may have adjusted things. @29 - can't see road course guys having any advantage. The ones who'll have an advantage, I think, are the guys who run Xfinity. Oh, I think I was the one who started that, maybe in a different thread. The theory was that the spacer will make it harder to regain RPM lost in the corners. That would give a driver who is smooth and consistent in hitting his marks in the corners an advantage over one whose style is to drive in as deep as possible, brake hard, and be heavy on the throttle on corner exit. I could have also said "good at conserving fuel" since this is a similar technique, but that always makes me think of Ryan Newman, and he's with a new team this year, so there won't be a way to use his 2018 versus 2019 results to test that. 55. With the northern tracks taking all the summer dates, NASCAR has no choice but to spread the southern tracks in the spring and fall. But NASCAR is less interested in good racing than they are in having a good TV show, so they're really just looking to get bunches of cars into a TV frame. (* I give you the Chili Bowl as an example: the engine rule is you have to run the spec fuel (because it's indoors and they don't want to asphyxiate anyone). That's it. You can run a small block Chevy, an Offy, a VW 4-banger, whatever you want. Doesn't matter because you can only use as much power as the traction allows. McLeod was driving in the same lane as Ryan Blaney, the leader, in the pits. He was doing what he should've been. Furthermore, for everyone criticizing McLeod for pitting with the leaders: he had a tire down or going down. Can't just drive around the track with a flat. Also, Joy was incorrect in later reporting that McLeod was "five to eight pit stalls away" from his pit. The 51's pit stall was that distance, the 52's pit, the car he was driving, was much closer. Preece made a mistake. In looking at the dash, he wasn't paying full attention to his surroundings, but McLeod did absolutely nothing wrong in that situation. 251.
