It's like they rotate numbers whenever a team shuts down. For example, they used the #15 for Michael Waltrip's last race at Daytona, and kept it ever since. Then after RCR sold the #27 charter, Premium started using the #27. I have long wondered what their reasoning is for using the numbers that they use. 7. 34McDowellFan posted: 05.29.2019 - 8:14 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) JJ Yeley finally makes his first 2019 start driving the #52 for Rick Ware Racing 8. Joshua posted: 05.30.2019 - 12:09 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Premium probably tries to use as much as they can from the old car/team, even down to the number decals? 11. AndersonWhitt posted: 05.30.2019 - 4:10 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Premium using the 27 this year is probably so they could get the points from Casey Mears's Daytona 500 run with Germain. That usually seems to be the reason they change numbers. (With the 7, it was due to how significant that number was to Tommy Baldwin, who had joined the team.) Another reason might be so they can reuse number decals/templates that the previous team already had. 12. It really does seem like NASCAR just makes changes at random, and then hopes something good happens. This race is an excellent example - you've got a track with long long straights, so you really have a premium on acceleration to set up a pass. But now we have less engine power, so no acceleration. But wait, what can NASCAR do to make it worse? That's right, specify gear ratios that make shifting impractical, so the driver loses the one tool he's got to try and improve his position. 113. Newer surfaces with some decent banking, it works good. I'm looking forward to Michigan next weekend, I think it'll be the best race with this package so far. 121. gary24fan posted: 06.02.2019 - 7:46 pm Rate this comment: (0) (3) YAWN! That way teams could choose what gears they want to run but they could not run the engine too many rpms because it would be limited. I don't know if this is possible, just my 2 cents. 123. It also kept the fantastic racing at restrictor plates, but at tracks like here and Auto Club it is just horrendous, but it still feels like how it was with the package in the prior years with minimal passing and a leader riding off into the sunset. I think we have to realize that out of a 36 race schedule they're not gonna be side by side 3 wide battles for the lead with less than 5 to go every race like it was at Charlotte and Kanasas. Some races are simply not going to be exciting, and that's just how it is. I hate to say it because it's my home track but Fontana hasn't had a memorable race since 2013, and Pocono hasn't been great either apart from 2017. The package hasn't helped improve racing at every track so far (but it sure has for some) but I don't entirely know if it's hurt it, because the races at Pocono and Fontana over the years have all felt like the same story over and over again. 125. Therefor the only driver Nascar cares about is Kyle so when he starts winning 20 cup races a year and Toyota wins all but 3 races on the year you know why. Enjoy the lower series while you can before the limits are lifted so Kyle can win all three championships in one year. If Kyle wants it Toyota pays for it. They own Nascar. I wont be surprised if they become the title sponsor 127. PucciMan posted: 06.02.2019 - 8:12 pm Rate this comment: (1) (3) Today was a bad day in motorsports. Must suck for you Ford fans that Chevy always had the best drivers which is why they won and now Toyota has the best driver, maybe Ford should just be better at scouting talent and not letting the talent they do have walk out the door like Jeff Gordon. 130. Generally, the same team or organization doesn't stay dominant throughout an entire season. Gibbs may be on top now, but that doesn't necessarily bode well for the playoffs later in the season. 131. That wasn't so much Ford, that was Gordon leaving after Jack Roush decided to be steadfast about not letting drivers pick their own crew chiefs. Gordon and Ray Everham decided to go elsewhere and he left before Bill Davis could finalize his move up to the top level with the Blue Oval. 137.
